Codemasters Talks Ps3 Grid Vs. Xbox 360

Gavin Raeburn, who is one of the devs for Codemasters behind the upcoming game Grid, discusses a few differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. He also touches upon how the final product will be much better than the demo.

if it was done right the first time

It's not as easy as that. Development costs money. The more time you spend on developing the more it cost and the risk of the game not being as profitable rises.
If you on the other hand releases an almost complete game you start earning money and you can spend those at improving the game.
Also, keep in mind that just about every product out there needs polishing at some time so if you are waiting for the game to become fully complete before releasing it you will never release it. You are literally never finished with a piece of software. There are always improvements to be done. The question is, when is the game good enough to yield the profit wanted? That's the most important factor in deciding when it's time to release the product.

...so how did that PS3 Madden 08 patch work for you?

Anyway, from what you're saying the development teams need to focus on just one system and use the money to the best of its capability so developing for the 360 only hurts games in the long run, right?

ar5815d ago (Edited 5815d ago )

Never played Madden 08 and I'm not planing to do it either.

It depends on the structure of the company developing the games. If everybody in the company works with all platforms yes the game might suffer from being multi platform. If the company on the other hand has dedicated teams for each platform it's not so sure. If we have one team specialized on PS3 they won't necessarily be able to do so much good on the 360-version if the company decides to drop the PS3-version. So dropping one platform won't necessarily mean the other version will gain in quality but it might.

However, even if the quality will suffer from being a multi platform, from an economical standpoint it's not sure it's wise to drop one of the platforms. More platforms the game is available on = more potential buyers.

The demo was pretty good. If they release a patch that will make it even better, than I'm all for it.

2cents5815d ago

to do justice for both consoles.
Come on codemasters set an example for others to follow.

Also now that they have acquired the F1 franchise, im really looking forward to see what they do with an otherwise stale line of games.

HeavyweightInTheGame5815d ago

Once again I agree with you. It is good to hear that both consoles will be getting solid versions of this game and are almost sounding identical. The acquisition of the F1 license should make that a must buy as well in the future if we are taking anything we have learned from this game so far.

nicks7775815d ago

ive played this demo much more than prolouge.thats how good it is.

PimpHandHappy5815d ago (Edited 5815d ago )

can not be ARCADY

it needs to be a total sim

if thats the case i will buy it

i also played the demo and its good but my taste leans heavy to sim over arcade....arcade takes away the feeling of skill drving fast in a fast car really takes

£20 says POG will claim that they are making "excuses" for the PS3 version

happy trolling POGman :)

Gam715815d ago (Edited 5815d ago )

do you not see the irony in your trolling?

p.s. I wont mention damage control as I don't want to be accused of trolling by a troll.
Guess it takes one to know one.

All I ask is imagine it was the 360 that had the 99%, now how would the ps3 community react to that.

I'll wait for the comparison video's the PR spin is more than likely sugar coating things to sell PS3 copies.

Your sickness is getting worse first you assume I was attacking you last night now you're calling me out for no reason soon you won't be doing anything else but chasing after me. I'v seen so many PS3 fanboys go crazy on this site assuming they wern't already having problems.

LOL this guy says "happy trolling".

You don't even know what the term means are you saying that I'm trolling in 360 only threads? thats where I post 95% of the time.

TROLL...

"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]"
