The inFAMOUS: Second Son’s Patch released yesterday added the much requested feature to change the time of day after finishing the game, and this gave a chance to compare the game’s looks bathed in extremely different lighting conditions, from bright sunlight to gloomy and rainy darkness.

This gallery of 56 screenshots featuring eight different scenes in all seven lighting conditions will help you appreciate how much masterful use of lighting can change the mood of a game.

Nice article. Very well done, Abriael.

Abriael3695d ago

*bows* glad you liked it :D

GribbleGrunger3695d ago

I've been asking people on Gaff to do this but to no avail, so it's nice to see it done as thoroughly as this.

Abriael3695d ago

They're probably waiting for the ability to dump screenshots on USB. Sending myself all the screenshots on the PSapp to get the uncompressed version was kinda boring lol.

TitanUp3695d ago

some nice looking screenshots some of the best infamous pics i have seen.

About the update, does it download automatically? I played Second Son last night and it wasn't updated. Any info on this is appreciated.

Abriael3695d ago

it did download automatically for me.

GameSpawn3695d ago (Edited 3695d ago )

All PS4 updates queue automatically in the background and start installing once you turn on the system. I think the PS4 will automatically "check-in" every few hours with the network to see if there is anything in the queue to download.

Check your automatic download settings -
This is for the US, but should be universal:

EDIT: Game updates are the only updates that have restrictions to a PS+ sub to install in standby. They will still queue without PS+, but not install until the system is fully on.

Absolutely beautiful :) Great Job Abriael, thanks for putting all that time and effort in to bringing us these wonderful comparisons.

I had been playing a lot of thief/mercenary Kings the last two weeks because I'd recently picked them up, after playing a very dark colourless game and a brightly coloured homage to all things retro for so long my tolerance was lowered, when I jumped on Infamous 2 last night I was "wow'd" all over again, I forgot just how gorgeous that game looks.

My_precious3695d ago (Edited 3695d ago )

this plus photomode show how confident SP have with thier creation

damn awesome

watch_dog better top that quality or else ubisoft will face blood bath everywhere

Abriael3695d ago

Watch_Dogs is a very different game under many points of view. It has a bigger world, so we shouldn't expect the same visual fidelity and density. Ultimately, resources are finite.

christian hour3695d ago (Edited 3695d ago )

Watch_Dogs is also a multiplatform/crossGen game, you cant compare em to a first party title/next gen exclusive. Watch_dogs is aiming to do something entirely different with its open world and is most likely larger in scale, graphically it probably wont compare (console wise, PC will probably look great, especially a few years down the line if it gets extremely modified by the community), but they'll both be very fun games in their own right.

Hands down Infamous has the best lighting in gaming ever. It has such a natural look.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM139d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck139d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati138d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos139d ago (Edited 139d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88170d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183169d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie169d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
