Devil May Cry 5 on Capcom's mind

VGB reports that Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said back at E3 2007 that he wanted to make Devil May Cry 5 if Capcom let him. It now seems all but certain Capcom wants a sequel with Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto this week announcing Devil May Cry 4's record sales of over 2 million units worldwide saying "We hope to continue meeting and exceeding the expectations of gamers with our dedication to developing solid titles for the best gaming platforms available."

DMC4 was dumbed down for X360

the PS3 exclusive DEMO at TGS 06 had 2x as many enemies on screen as the final game

CAPCOM ...PS3 will have surpassed x360's ww BASE by 2008 so please make this PS3 exclusive and make it a TRUE NEXT GEN game

muddygamesite5859d ago

While i would love that to happen because im a proud PS3 owner, i highly doubt capcom can do that. DMC4 is already on the Xbox360, so it would be silly to Cut them off after just one game in the series.

Elginer5859d ago

with the false sense of entitlement that some gamers have. Let everyone enjoy the game, and if the X360 is holding it back so much why pray tell is there a 5 gig install for the machine and yet the 360 version plays just fine. Again we have people with these arrogant attitudes, this is no good. Just enjoy the game or not. Up to to you.

DMC4 is superior on the 360 the PS3 version was proven to have a flaw the industry is just now seeing as a PS3 weakness, the PS3 version of DMC4 is blurry and the textures are not on par with the 360 version.

If anything its the PS3 that holds back the 360 versions of games due to devs catering to the lowest common denomitnator trying to match each version.

Meresin5859d ago

It'd take a lot of money from Sony to make that happen, so I don't think it will. They'd lose too many potential sales if they didn't also make it available on the 360.

DMC4 is confirmed to be better on PS3

Like most multi-console games, any review would inevitably have to come down to which system is better, and for this instance, the PS3 winds up winning out just slightly. It's not in the gameplay department, because DMC4 plays the same regardless of which system that you play on. Nor is it in the visual department, because visual issues are virtually negligible. For example, the 360 has some harder edges to some characters during cutscenes, and a little more screen tearing than the PS3 at times. The PS3 can be a wee bit darker during some scenes, though. Both systems show off a certain amount of render passing that pops into focus on sweeping vista shots, but they occur at the same time on each system and are quickly dismissed. However, observing these differences will only come via frame-by-frame analysis of each game side-by-side. Even then, you're still receiving an incredible visual experience.

No, the edge comes in the fact that the PS3 installs a large amount of game files to the hard drive, dramatically reducing load times between stages and cinematics. I've timed the game on both systems numerous times, and each time has been consistently in the PS3's favor. Transitions to gameplay from starting menus are relatively close, frequently within half a second or so of each other, but when you're loading up a cutscene or having another pause in the action, the 360's times are easily three times that of the PS3.

I must say that was pretty funny Kevin, but I'm not looking forward to one until 2010 because it would be just fine; I think and I hope so. Devil Cry 4 could have been a lot better than it was especially since it was so repetitive and Nero was kind of bland. I think Devil Cry 5 should have a Co-Op mode where you're able to use Dante & Nero and whoever I'm playing with will be using the noob Nero. Dante is for more experienced users like myself because he's hard to use at first if you haven't played any of the other ones. When you're using Nero you can get used to him in a snap of the finger. Capcom has a lot of work to do to make up from DMC IV. Oh yeah, Devil May Cry 5 better be exclusive for PS3 because I'm seriously not getting it if it's not. The only reason why I got DMC 4 is because my mom sneaked up on me and asked me what did I want. It was between that and Ratchet & Clank and I should have picked Ratchet.

The Genius has spoken.

H-V-H5859d ago

So if DMC 5 is not PS3 exclusive you won't buy it ?

Why ?

Jamegohanssj55859d ago

I'm not a big multi platform guy unless it's a game that I always buy like GTA & Smackdown.

The Genius has spoken.

mikeslemonade5859d ago

This will be the true Devil May Cry 4 because the last one wasn't a true next-gen DMC. It was more of the same and unfinished. Half of DMC4 is backtracking. And definately please hope that DMC5 is exclusive to one system because the last multiplatform was trash.

Amanosenpai5858d ago

Agree... DMC4 as a multiplat title really sucked... DMC3 was a true masterpiece...

I REALLY DONT want to play the same levels twice just because the fawking dvd9 cant handle more...

ARGGG

RSX5858d ago

"the fawking dvd9 cant handle more..."

I hope it's just as awesome as DMC3. Even though I liked DMC4, it didn't really compare with DMC3.

Hellgiver5858d ago

Absolutely. DMC3 still remains my favorite. It let you play through as Dante, and the special edition had the awesome replay value of letting you play through as Vergil. I also preferred having 2 guns and 2 weapons.

juuken5858d ago

Never did beat it because it was so darn hard but I'm definitely replaying it over the summer.

LeonSKennedy4Life5858d ago

Yes, 3 is the best in the series.

I do love the Devil Bringer though...

...that made the action go so much quicker.

Nero basically owned Itagaki with that thing...

LaChance5859d ago (Edited 5859d ago )

talking the "360 dumbed it down" nonsense (check open zone)

Remember when DMC4 was a plysatation 3 exclusive it looked very average graphically.
I didnt look bad but the graphics were completely unimpressing.

When it went multiplat , the game started looking better and better.Im sure its not because it went multi but the fact that it looked very averge when it was a ps3 exclusive just proves that the 360 didnt "dumb it down" since on the ps3 already it looked nothing special.

Moreover I personnaly think that the differances are almost unexistant between he 360 and PS3 version but if youre a whor3 for graphics you have to admit you cant say in any case the ps3 version looks better.

So how could did the 360 dumb it down since the 360 version looks better than the PS3 exclusive DMC4 version(the multiplat version look the same)

BY the way DMC4 was cool.

Skerj5859d ago (Edited 5859d ago )

I don't think he means dumbing down graphically, I think it was the general consensus because of Dante's section were lazily implemented. Besides no one saw the actual game before it was officially announced for all platforms so who knows what it looked like then.

Presentist5859d ago

I agree, DMC4 rocked.

Well, I would have called it "Nero Must Live, Dante must die". The sections with Nero were easily a 9/10, but the ones with Dante were about 6/10 for me.

I've had enough of Dante and I want him to leave the party.

Dark General5859d ago

I think we he says "dumbed down" i don't think he means graphics wise. I think he was talking about the new feature of which you could preform a crazy combo (that was different each time) by just pressing the same button over and over. It was to help the new audience get used to DMC's action. Also the difficulty was tuned down but i don't think that was because the xbox crowd was getting DMC for the first time. But more in tuned to people complaining DMC3 was too hard and how the industry is heading towards dev's wanting you to see the ending of the game by tuning down the difficulty instead of making you work for it.

Presentist5858d ago (Edited 5858d ago )

Wow, 6 disagrees with my previous comment? Did people really not like the devil bringer? It thought it was fantastic.

Should also point out that I love Dante more than Nero as a character, I just like the way Nero actually played better. Put the devil arm on Dante and you can get rid of Nero asap.

Skerj5858d ago

It was supposed to be Dante's from DMC3 but they felt it would have been too much so they scrapped it.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC49d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos49d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga49d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer49d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey60249d ago (Edited 49d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya49d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde49d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP49d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
