DayZ Will Land on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Once the PC Version is in the “Right State”

We’ve touched upon the subject of DayZ, the open world Zombie Survival MMO which began as a mod for ARMA II, heading to Xbox One in the future, but developer Dean “Rocket” Hall has spoken further about the game

To think this game is so popular yet in it's Alpha stage is pretty amazing. Guessing we won't see a console version for a while then if they're trying to smooth it all out first.

randomass1713681d ago

Minecraft was super popular before it was ever even close to finished. Granted that was a beta, but still. The point is an unfinished product can still be super popular.

imtheman20133681d ago

Minecraft was popular in alpha as well as beta. Hell, I'd say it's still one of the most popular games released in the past couple years.

NewMonday3680d ago

Dayz is supposed to be finished this year with beta spring 2015.. so if there is going to be a console version it should'nt hit until late 2015 early 2016 if they start working on it after they are done with the PC version

BISHOP-BRASIL3681d ago

Last I played it (around february), the alpha was buggier and messier than ever before. I really don't know if they can meet their deadlines when everytime they try to add and test something new it breaks everything else... Which is a shame, when it works it's one of the most fun games I had ever played.

I really hope they bring some more programmers into the project to solve everything and get it really going, because if they can't, SOE's H1Z1 can very well beat 'em into the market and kill potential sales (not saying which one would be better, as we can't tell yet, but just the fact everything now points at the two games being way too familiar to each other is concerning).

christian hour3681d ago

I dunno if I can believe them anymore. When I started playing DayZ it was supposed to be finished by the end of 2012. Then they announced a standalone version to be finished by 2013. It's still not done. And it's as buggy as it has ever been.

It's a great game but sadly I've moved on from it myself, having a lot more fun these days with the equally buggy ProjectZomboid, simply because all my friends even those with netbooks can run it, and I host a server for it at home so we have a nice perpetual world going there. That'll do nicely until h1z1 arrives.

To me, saying it'll come to xb1/ps4 when it's steady on PC is like saying it's never coming. I understand the game my be running a little smoother now that Rocket isnt there anymore being overly perfectionist and ambitious with the title. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it can keep a game in limbo forever if there's no big publisher breathing down yr neck to get it out the door so it stops haemorrhaging money.

I like to call it molyneux syndrome. He (Molyneux) aims to do so much with his games but is often met with technical limitations and a tight deadline so his games tend to ship without the things he was hoping to do. I hope they finish dayz someday but my interest in the title has definitely faded.

Great news for those who've never played it though and have been itching to dive in to Cherno :)

@christian
There was a reason for the delay. since you've played it you know all the new stuff they added , the improved graphics and the new animations.. It wasnt supposed to be anything more than a DayzMod you didnt have to buy ARMA II for. but they choose to remake the game..

Im to a little skeptical that they can make the deadline but they have actually made the deadlines they have set since the Alpha was released.( + 1 week or so )

they have also bought a whole new studio thats helping them finish the game witch will make the development easier.

I have been playing dayz standalone since release but are not tired of it yet. with the addition of new gear and stuff to find every now and again the game is always a constant struggle to find and see everything in the game.
and to team up with you friends and try to rob and kill people in the most funniest ways is always fun.
You have to find your own fun since you cant really do much ATM ( like cooking , hunting , building bases ) but sure i can understand you.

And as far as bugs.. the game has only crashed for me 1 time since i bought it.
the only thing was the memory dump problem in February.
Sure there are a few annoyances but nothing mayor ATM.

I like Rust better i just love to build massive metal bases with my friends and always have to defend it from raiders lol .

Hello_World3680d ago

Yes, let the PC nerds enjoy everything first while you peasants wait to get the hand me down version. Master race.

To be honest is this really gonna benefit them in anyway? Maybe on Xbox One but PS4 WILL have H1Z1 and if that's a success this game will be over shadowed

Lord_Sloth3681d ago (Edited 3681d ago )

I'll be playing H1Z1 instead of waiting around for DayZ.

MysticStrummer3681d ago

We need more H1Z1 details, but from what we've seen so far I don't see how people disagreed with you. I was very interested in DayZ coming to PS4 until I saw some footage of the standalone version last summer. Granted, it was very early footage, but it definitely knocked my interest down several notches. Now, after seeing H1Z1 footage, I was basically thinking the same thing you said. By the time DayZ hits PS4, PS4 users may very well not care.

OpieWinston3681d ago

The Xbox One has Class 4. A game that probably will be better than H1Z1 because Undead Labs is devoted to strong Zombie games and have used SoD as a Prototype run. (It was a huge success)
https://undeadlabs.com/2011...

By the time DayZ hits consoles there will already be two big Zombie MMOs.

TheSaint3681d ago

How can you know it will probably be better? Just more BS from MS people.

OpieWinston3681d ago

Because UNLIKE all the other studios that are taking a swing at Zombie MMOs. Undead Labs took the time to develop a Sandbox zombie game to prototype the Zombie MMO. If you read the link you'd know that.

This isn't based on some blind fanboyism, this is based on Undead labs PROVING they can do a good Zombie game and SoE NOT.

Oschino19073680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

SOE has been making MMOs since the mid/late 90's and worked on almost 40 projects in that time.

SOE has been at the forefront of some of the most successful and ambitious MMOs ever released to this date.

SOE has also had the same guy in charge of development since 95/96 before there was even a SOE (President at SOE since 2002) and it was just a contract studio.

SOE's President John Smedley is about as much of a gamer and gaming enthusiast as anyone else in the world executive, developer or consumer. His passion for games and gaming is very apparent in every interview/appearance.

svoulis3681d ago

@Docknoss

Insecure what? I own the Standalone, it is pretty beat right now. Arma III's Breaking Point is actually a lot better than it at the moment.

How does that make me insecure? Cause I see it for what it is? Or cause you're afraid you wasted some money on a game that may never become what it was suppose to be?

elhebbo163681d ago

Your putting a lot of fate on a game we barely know anything about.

JustPlay43681d ago

We know its basically dayz, with more players and maybe a bigger map

OpieWinston3681d ago

I love N4G...Stealth disagrees for simply stating facts.
X1 has a Zombie MMO in development
PS4 has a Zombie MMO in development

Day Z should stay on PC because it's better for these games to be focused on one platform. Even once they're done polishing they can continue to provide content.

Wow!!! best news of the day for me can't wait.

Bonkerz3681d ago

WOOOHOO!!!! This game looks so unique, cant wait to experience it.

dillhole3681d ago

I really can't imagine this as a console game. I look forward to the PS4 release but they must have a long way to go. Last time I played it was full of bugs and took some patience to get a smooth game.

-MD-3681d ago

Bugs and latency in an alpha? That's crazy.

Dragon_for_Lunch3681d ago

@-MD- yeah but the real question is for how long?. :)

-MD-3681d ago

Game has like another year in development, look forward to the beta later this year, it'll probably be a lot more stable.

Top 5 Adult VR Games with Gamey Elements

CG writes: Today we’re going to do something slightly different to what we’ve done before when looking at adult VR games. In this video, we’re going to look at adult VR games that have gamey elements. What we’ve discovered is that many of these games and experiences are basic model posers and viewers and nothing more, but they’re still classed as adult VR games. In this video we’re going to look at the top five adult vr games that actually have gameplay it’s not that many to be honest compared to the amount of model posers and viewers out there. There’s a reason for this and that’s due to the fact that it’s far easier for a developer to create a project as a model viewer poser rather than including the gameplay elements that people might be looking for, so this list is pretty unique.
