The Gods of Too Human: Freya

The developers at Silicon Knights have shared another one of the Norse gods that plays an important role in the story of their upcoming action rpg Too Human. Today gamers meet Freya, goddess of love, as well as of removing the wounded from the field of battle and preparing them for their trip to Valhalla. But that's in the more traditional sense. The creators of Too Human have reimagined a lot of Norse mythology to fit in with their own.

Why is baldur the god of peace in norse mythology the main fighter in this game? In Norse mythology he never wielded a weapon and nobody in midgard or asgard or tronheim would hurt him. There is nothing vaguely near Norse mythology in this game except names.

canadianpatriot5843d ago

lol it's fiction dont get to worked up about it

thewhoopimen5843d ago

Why am i getting disagrees? I was asking a question O_O...
Our my facts on Norse mythology wrong?

deeznuts5843d ago

It's called: Video Game. Not: Playable Documentary.

Imallvol75843d ago

when I saw Freya I immediately though Final Fantasy 9!!!! YEAH!!!! Then I saw it was Too Human. What a buzz kill. Lol. I used to be excited for this game.

Atomic5843d ago

this game will get 3/10 from the gaming press , worse than Haze.
yeah , it looks that retarded.

consolewar5843d ago

Wow thats all i gotta say.The sony boys have a reason to feel threatened. They touted 08 was the year of the delaystation3.Now half there games were delayed once again and there getting a movie called mgs4 and they got a wannabe halo knockoff.Things just arent going there way. It's may Sony, how about some games?

Elginer5843d ago

a damn hater, go back in your hole.

Atomic5843d ago

just 18 days to wait before MGS4 hits , call it a movie or whatever you like , MGS4 awesomeness will obliterate all the 360 games combined.
so shut your trap you stupid bot!

power of Green 5843d ago

Are you a kid or something?, what are you 12 years of age?.

MGS4 is the very bestest my toy is better than your toy and I'm going to go over to your corner of the sandbox and rub it in your face.

Boldy5843d ago (Edited 5843d ago )

I don't know what your talking about the PRESS will give it a 3/10 but so far the PRESS that got to play the game so far are praising the game, even calling it the next Diablo (until the next one comes out).

Edit: obviously someone disagrees with me"

GamePro:

"Finally, a decent demo of Too Human, the exclusive Xbox 360 action RPG that can only be described as intriguing. We can't wait to see more."

"Too Human runs at a consistent framerate in 720p with 4x anti-aliasing and up to 50 enemies onscreen. That's quite the technical feat considering all the issues developer Silicon Knights has been having with Epic and the Unreal Engine 3.0."

"I know it's crazy to say, but Too Human is the new Diablo. Well, at least until Blizzard shows us Diablo III, which who knows when that could be. Although Too Human is set in an entirely different universe with numerous cutscenes overlapping the gameplay, the actual core fundamentals are exactly the same, and it looks beautiful. Show us more Silicon Knights! You can't keep that "Online Play" menu option secret for too long."

OXM:

"We admit it: we weren't expecting this to be good. But having actually sat down with it, we're actually rather impressed with the way it combines a huge, slightly self-important storyline with gleeful hack-and-slash genocide. PC veterans will recognise it as being similar to Diablo, the rest of us can think of it as a sort of sci-fi Jackie Chan movie in which you spend most of your time fighting off attackers in groups of twenty."

"It {The controls} takes some getting used to, but it's slick, and you're quickly deploying flamboyant Devil May Cry-style moves with handheld weaponry (swords, maces, anything else you find lying around) and your ever-present gun."

Play TM

Title itself, "Too Human, Too good to be true?"

"The game combines the most addictive elements of Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo series, mixes in some God of War-style combat sequences, and twists it all together with, what sounds like, a highly compelling and interesting storyline combining elements of cyber-fiction, fantasy, and Norse mythology. In a word: cool."

"Combat is shaping up to be a largely automated process, similar to World of Warcraft in nature. Which is nice since most hack-and-slash games employ a more "click-a-thon" approach to combat which has outstayed its welcome in this genre."

"Especially when, on the face of things, Too Human is shaping up to be a seriously awesome Xbox 360 title."

Atomic5843d ago

too human can't be compared to diablo , because it doesn't allow for the minimum player count for a diablo-like game ,
diablo and PSO allow 4 player co-op , too human doesn't
your whole post got shot to $hit.

Boldy5843d ago

Wow Atomic that was the dumbest thing I have heard anyone say. Did you even read the quote where it says it? I'll put part of it up again for you.

"Although Too Human is set in an entirely different universe with numerous cutscenes overlapping the gameplay, the actual core fundamentals are exactly the same, and it looks beautiful."

Why would similarities between games be judged solely on the amount of players it has. Halo 2 didn't have 4 player co-op but Halo 3 did. Are you going to tell me that those games are not alike at all. Honestly your argument is.... How you came up to that argument is beyond me but it made me laugh at how dumb it was.

Atomic5843d ago (Edited 5843d ago )

Boldy29 you are embarrassing yourself.
a diablo-like game without 4 player co-op is like a FPS without guns
diablo and PSO were all about playing different classes and complementing each other, a less than 4 player count just makes the class system worthless .
did i own you again ?

dan-boy5843d ago

anyway, too human has 2 player co-op....what ps3 rpg does that?? apart from oblivion, is there any rpg's on the ps3?

Elginer5843d ago

on my must have list. Looks like a solid action/rpg, and if anything I know the story will be deep. Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain both by Silicon Knights stories were insanely deep.

Mr Marbles5843d ago

ignore the PS3 fanboy trolls, they have nothing better to do, 2008 is half over and they are still waiting for the year of the PS3 to start LMAO!

This game is going to be in a class all its own, a must buy at launch.

The action-RPG by now-defunct Silicon Knights is now free for Xbox gamers! Check out the Too Human free direct download link with armor sets here.

RazzerRedux1431d ago

Fun fact: I'm one of five people to have completed Too Human and actually liked it. It should be noted that the other four ended up in mental institutions....sadly.

excaliburps1431d ago

I completed it and kinda liked it. Controls were iffy but overall, I dug it. Shame Dyack was crazy. xD

IanTH1431d ago

Glad to hear it! So, when did you get out of the institution?

Marquinho1430d ago

Too Human was "The Order: 1886" of the 360.

Nitrowolf21431d ago (Edited 1431d ago )

I have never played this, mostly because I didn't own an Xbox prior to a few months ago Def. will check this out

darthv721431d ago

It certainly has a cool story and its a good game. it was just marred by long development time and kind of egotistical creator.

Looper1431d ago

Hey!! I was told survivors had all signed an NDA! I'm telling!

Kribwalker1431d ago

i really liked this one too. Always wished for a sequel, but sadly i don’t see it in the cards

excaliburps1431d ago

Yeah, it had a solid story and game mechanics. I remember the controls weren't smartly implemented, and every time you respawned, the animation was so long.

Fantangoooo1431d ago

I can't count the number of times I finished this game gridding for gear. Weird control but I liked it

Neonridr1431d ago

sounds very Polybius to me..

Poopmist1431d ago

Me and my friend beat it so many times. I got the best armor mathematically possible in it. Great game imo but their needed to be more tutorials on how runes work. The one that spawns singularities upon hitting someone was cash.

DerfDerf1431d ago

I actually really enjoyed it.

RamRod881431d ago

I beat it too. The controls were weird, but once I got use to them it was okay. I found the story to be actually half decent. Too bad there wasn't a sequel because I really believe if they have fixed the issues the first game had(controls, camera, etc), it could have been a great series.

HyperMoused1431d ago

I though it was great too, yay us

Anomander1431d ago

Beat it as well. it had a good story line. Overall it was decent.

glennhkboy1431d ago

I remember that I played the 1st stage. The control was so bad that I couldn't force myself to continue.

morganfell1430d ago

Fun fact...you're actually one of six :) That game was the reason I kept an Xbox 360 running until they released the very last B/C titles and it was among them.

Chronicle7801430d ago

I thought the game was ok, clunky but ok. Every time I go back to play it though it takes 20 minutes for the controls to 'click' again. Pity most of the advanced combos and controls aren't listed anywhere in the game.

Phoenix Down 87.0 – Too Human

Denis Dyack would disapprove.

darthv721679d ago

I liked this game. It has it's flaws but the story and mechanics are pretty good. It still holds up today.

Kribwalker1679d ago

i really enjoyed it when it came out.

It was free recently on xbox through BC. Id love to see this revived but sadly i think the legal issues would stop that
