Gilray: PS4 A Dream To Work With, Targeting 1080P@60 For Oddworld New N'Tasty

Stewart Gilray says that PS4 has been a dream machine to work with, and they're aiming to get 1080P@60 for Oddworld New N'Tasty, with 720P@30 for the other releases.

Meanwhile, no work has been done on the Xbox One version yet.

Maybe so since the game isn't that graphically intensive, but from what they've said there is no guarantee it will come out anytime soon on Xbox One.

This game is not that graphically demanding. nothing exciting.

I'd be more impressed if the Order 1886 or Uncharted 4 can run at 1080@60. I do believe it's possible with PS4 hardware, maybe not now.

Oddworld was the bomb back in the day. Stranger's Wrath was absolutely amazing, and Fangus looked to be their next big hit before everything was shutdown. I'm so glad this world is being revitalized...

Oddworld did used to be a hit. I think a lot of gamers forget just how big it was. It was one of the most memorable games on PS1, and I remember how pissed all PlayStation fans were when it became exclusive to Xbox. At the time it was a steal for Microsoft, glad to see it coming back out on Playstation 4.

I was one of those super pissed fans. That moneyhat by MS began my hatred towards the company. I was a little kid and couldn't afford another console, and I wasn't going to just for one game.

Since then I've tried to be as tolerable as I can, but they just keep doing anti-consumer BS. Don't even get me started on their draconian DRM.

Now that Mr. Spencer is at the helm, I think those anti gamer policies might stop and I could finally pick up a MS console and stop missing out on some great exclusives.

Strangers wrath was actually a sabotage attempt by Microsoft because of oddworld previously being a Sony exclusive. The game was horrible it's rrp in the UK was £10 on release!! The orginal games oddesy and exoddus are what 99% of fans loved, a unique and addictive platform game.

Well PS4 is ok to own. Mid to High End gaming PC is the real dream to own. Imagine one platform where running games at 1080p and 60FPS is the norm rather than the exception. A platform that allows you to run Reaper of Souls and Titanfall and Civ 5 and Company of Heroes 2 and Persona 4 through PCSX2 at a full 1080p and Super Metroid just for old times sake. That is the dream system to own, indeed.

Actually if you look at the tags, it clearly says PC. Also this is a gaming site, so I don't think that me mentioning PC as a capable gaming platform is out of place.

I agree. For now the PS4 is, to me, only okay to own, still very limited in terms of content for it. I also have a good gaming PC, it's not quite a dream to own either, but it's by far the most powerful and versatile of the machines, and it has huge amounts of content. Everything runs at 1080p+ at 60fps+, even old games. My PS3 games do not run on PS4 and hence they do not get any graphical boost on my PS4. I think this is a great advantage on the PC, all my games follow me through my different upgrades. I have tons of content for my PS3 that I cannot use on my PS4. I have ALL the content on my PC I have accumulated through the years.

No. Pirating PS2 games is not a joy. The joy is in ripping your old PS2 games collection (the ones that you legally bought and own and you don't want to loose)and playing them in a better form. Say you own a Super Audio CD and Sony demands you may only listen to this CD on Sony SACD systems but you have a system that plays them better, would you follow Sony because of what they say or would you choose what's best for you after paying your hard earned money for it?

For anyone who has seen the actual game, Star Citizen it is not. Now developers are doing the coy "hopefully it'll run at so and so" when it's clear that it will. This is not exactly a powerhouse of a title. I'll be a lot more interesting if they could render the game at 1440p and then downscale it to 1080p. That alone would blast away aliasing and give the whole game a very crisp looking aesthetic.

The game is still exclusive to sony, though Apparently the game might also come to the xb1, since adding another platform with unity engine is relative easy. However depending on talks on microsoft parity clause it might not happen.

Dude, it is a side scrolling arcade title. If Rayman, Strider, and many other similar arcade indies titles can run 60fps and 1080p on both consoles, what makes you think Oddworld will be any difference?

Do we know the tech used in the game? Do we know the amount of action and quality of effects (including particle effects) in any given frame?

I guess we could just lump many games into the same pit and not worry about those things, just call them side scrolling arcade titles and not think for a second it may do just as much as many "AAA" titles, if not more technically.

PS4 gets all the praise. X1 might be getting firmware updates, but it's hardware is still more difficult to fully utilize due esram being a huge bottleneck.

120 fps is actually better for the eyes, even simple things like Word Processing, just easier on the eyes, Games that use motion blur effect benefit too
