what about the 2 9/10's the 34/40 the 4/5? those are most accurate....i have the game and it dosent deserve anything below a 9.

guardian gamers are the most trusted and they gave it an honest 9.

the games either a 4.0 or a 9.0? somethings not right here. in my eyes people are jealous or somthing cause this games fantastic . some raw ass sh*T ubisoft made.

A review is just one person's opinion, and this game made me realise that. I'm looking forward to Fable II and even if it gets a 2/10 from every magazines/website I'd buy it anyway. So if you think this game is worth trying, just go rent/buy it and see for yourself, give it your own personal review.

there is some texture problem like "skin coat" collar will sometime blinks, and when u drink the tea that skin coat offers u can clear see the bad texture. but the gameplay is tight and is really fun, if ur a PS3 owner def rent this game first be4 judging it

Really, the game isn't as bad as some would like to say it is. Some who never even touched it are ready to say its awful cuz their most trusted awesomest bestest pal in the world review site gave it a bad score. The mismatch of reviews is evident enough that some wuold love it, some would hate it. If you dont want to risk losing out on a game you think you might really enjoy, give it a try, if you dont want to even bother, don't. Nuff said.

ANOTHER MEGA SURPRISE :- Crysis is coming to PS3. The graphics are on par with a semi-high mid ranged PC

It's hard to make a good FPS.
Look at the Medal of Honor Series and the Call of Duty Series, specifically no. 4. Same genre right?
But where MoH stayed the same and got boring, CoD didn't play it safe and tried something different and hit pay dirt.
HAZE tried something different, the drug use, and it failed.

That's the score I give it except 8 for sound. Played co op night had a blast felt like Timespliters, Golden eye 64. Im sick of gaming critics bashing a game because it's a ps3 exclusive. Shame on them if you like fun gameplay then I highly recommend this. Bioshock MSG4 NG2 Fable2 it's great time to be a gamer have fun people.

You know what, screw IGN. I think that I might just pick up HAZE after all. Lately my mind had been set on not getting HAZE at all after seeing some of the low reviews, but the reviews for HAZE aren't consistent at all. Some are very low, some are average and some are above average.

I've looked on Amazon.com and I've read a few Customer Reviews of the game, and so far everyone that had reviewed the game gave it 4 or 5 Stars and they thought that HAZE was not a 4.5/10 game that IGN gave it.

I think that IGN and other game websites that reviewed HAZE were comparing the game to Call of Duty 4 or something and that's not really fair. You have to judge HAZE by what it is and not by what another game is and making comparisions between the 2 games.

All I really care about is Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 owning every other shooter that's been released.

I gave this game a chance and it was good not as good as COD4 but definitely better than Halo 3 hands down graphics and game play wise.

my thoughts so far?

Graphics: Good. not great. not phenomenal, but not god awful. there are infinitely worse games out there (ie, Turok, Conflict, etc). something i noticed: the entire game is anti-aliased. no jaggies anywhere. the jungles and beach levels are really nice looking. not Uncharted levels, but certainly not too shabby on my 40" 720p Samsung.

Controls: Great. smooth as silk. Free Radical is respected for quite a few things; two of which are rock solid framerates and smooth controls. Haze has both. the fact that the buttons are completely customizable is really nice also (i tweaked a few buttons for comfort). no complaints here.

Presentation/Story: Good. the over the top voice acting seems entirely intentional (especially when i look back at the talent Free Radical has worked with in other games), and the exaggerated behavior of your Mantel squad is simply thus so breaking away from them (and blowing their brains out), isn't as difficult a move as we think. the story isn't perfect, or really pushing any boundaries so far, but it's certainly intriguing, and the only real complaint i have is that Shane Carpenter is just so...GREEN. he's one of the most naive protagonists i've seen since Neo in The Matrix. granted, his whole character arc is that of discovery, primarily the discovery that Mantel is evil and full of it, but still. he comes off as this doe eyed farm boy (ie, Clark Kent type), who is suddenly exposed to the harsh realities of war. it begs the question, "then WHY the hell did you join the MILITARY of all careers??"

anyway, the story as a whole is fine, and i don't see how the dialogue in Haze is any more groan worthy than the dialogue in a Halo, Gears of War, or even Call of Duty.

Gameplay: Good. not great. not revolutionary. it's not redefining FPSes for generations to come. it's just solid, if not standard, FPS action. personally, i really, REALLY enjoyed the level where Shane and company are working their way through the Copper factory, and the swamp escape, and beach levels are also impressive. the vehicle segment i played went on for too long, and the vehicles are annoying to control (i have this same complaint for the vehicles in Halo also). the Nectar mechanic was actually a lot of fun, but unfortunately, it's over too soon. it would have been nice to be on the Mantel side for, say, HALF of the game, then play the latter half as the Rebel. Nectar seems like it was a mechanic put into the game for MULTIPLAYER, then shoehorned into the single player to give gamers a test drive with it before diving into the online.

speaking of online, i didn't get to play it online (my internet was acting quite stupid yesterday), so i'll hold off on impressions pertaining to that until i do.

so far, my view of Haze is this:

Single Player: 7.5/8 out of 10. definitely worth at least a rental, and a purchase if it sticks with you. i took the chance and bought it. i don't regret it.

nice review man. yeah i went out and bought haze on day one and am loving it! i don't think i can ever trust reviewers again, this game is really good. Nothing revolutionary but really good and worth the time. Hell Free Radical put alot of time into Haze so i'm sure the least you can do is rent it. As for me i'm going to enjoy it and laugh at anybody who bashes the game before they play it because its a great game.

Finally, got my preview copy in yesterday and while reticent I was simply curious to see if the game deserved to be lambasted like it did.

I didn't think too highly of the Demo but was curious nevertheless how the later level would play out.

My verdict? Not that anybody cares because by now HAZE has been forgotten by the community as they are eagerly awaiting MGS! And I can't BLAME any of you!

I have played games like Turok and a handful of other games than are not even worth a rent! But somehow these games got a higher score by the same websites that reviewed and decry HAZE. HAZE is a very decent game marred by some very uninspiring storytelling, dialogue and subpar visuals. There are sections in the game that really had me so confused as to how bland everything looked.

In my honest opinion a 7 is well deserved for a game that has a pretty solid multiplayer and a decent singleplayer.

It seems nowadays that Review Centers give an extra penalty for games with the triple A status. It is like saying: The Devs should have known better than to produce a game with this level of mediocrity.

But in the end we don't know what went on during the production phase of the development of any game. A game should be viewed and reviewed with the same yardstick that others are measured with.

I do wonder that if IGN gave the game a 7 how many would have followed in its lead.
