Biggest Losers: 30 Day Wii Fit Challenge

The decidedly unathletic guys at The Exploding Barrel have both picked up Wii Fit, and in the first installment of this ongoing 'Biggest Losers' series, they are competing with each other to see who can use Wii Fit to decrease their BMIs the most without any other form of exercise over the course of 30 days.

In this first instalment, the rules are spelled out, contestant baselines are provided, and weekly updates will provide a window into the two writers' progress. On a humorous note, at the end of 30 days, the loser has to buy the winner a large pizza as a reward for getting in shape.

Both of the contestants smoke, drink, and generally eat crap, so the '30 Day Challenge' should be interesting test of the Wii Fit's utilitarian value as an exercise device for non-athletes (read: typical gamers), regardless of who wins.

Honestly, we are just using the contest to encourage each other to take Wii Fit seriously, and after a month of trying it out, we'll be able to comment on how effective Wii Fit is as an exercise device.

Lyan5833d ago

So when there is little difference in the end result BMI b/c people didn't bother to control their eating habits/style the negligible results will be attributed in a negative light on something intended to help people. Just my opinion, but I think people are setting the device up for failure. I understand people are trying to gauge specifically the value of the device on it's own, but if they knew even a little bit about effective exercise they would know that you can't gauge the effectiveness of exercise without balance.

It's like thinking that if you walk a mile to McDonalds everyday to eat 3 double quarter pounders you'll be in better shape then the fat bastard who drives there. It doesn't work like that.

Highlife1999d ago

Yeah as a gamer that list sucks. Wouldn't be to prod of that.

Paytaa1999d ago

Oh you're one of those real gamers

Literal_Cringe1999d ago

You're not much of a gamer then.

lxeasy1999d ago

Damn Nintendo Domination!

King_Noctis1999d ago

Kindda surprising actually. All games are from Nintendo.

darthv721999d ago

And the #1 game on this list is also the #1 game (and accessory) to be found at the local goodwill.

Take a look at the 50 best selling games of all time https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

telekineticmantis1999d ago

Nintendo has always had the most mass appeal, my Mother would play Mario.

EddieNX 1999d ago

There's landslides and then there's this. Wouldn't be surprised if the top 50 was mostly Nintendo games.

Paytaa1999d ago

The only other game's that cracked the Top 15 aside from Nintendo were Halo 3, Halo Reach, and Halo 4.

EddieNX 1999d ago (Edited 1999d ago )

Good. I adore Halo!! It's the only online shooting game for me.

The Wii was a beast! The entire top 10 selling more than 10 million units each!

FallenAngel19843122d ago

Just like the DS list, every game on the Wii's list has sold over 10 million. Not even PS1 and PS2 did that. That's very incredible
