inFAMOUS: Second Son: Possible DLC Powers Teased in Game; Time of Day Option News Coming Next Week

inFAMOUS: Second Son seems to have found a special place in the heart of many gamers, and some have been finding themselves yearning for more powers to play with, others want more options to add more variety to the endgame.

Sucker Punch promised news on the option to change the time of day within the week, and a possible tease about DLC powers has been found in the collectible audio logs within the game (spoilers are included in the second part of the post).

We want a Reggie DLC Sucker Punch...that would be awesome :)

No offence but as for the new powers I just feel like it's going to be the same move set but altered a little to fit the style of the chosen power. Like what we have already...shot power, ground attack, hover, your travelling move, a non lethal attack, a special etc

Give us some powers like in inFAMOUS 2

Why is there no Smoke grenade, a Neon light based force push attack or a Video/data shield

GarrusVakarian3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

I remember i collected that audio tape and thought to myself " i reckon that will be what the DLC is about". Those powers that are mentioned in that audio log would be epic.

And i agree with the rumoured reward from the paper trail missions.

-Foxtrot3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

I wouldn't mind the powers as long as they make them seem different and actually usefull.

Off topic - In general

<SPOILERS>

Be honest guys...did someone take my Reggie DLC idea where he comes back as a water conduit, what I posted this morning because I thought to myself "You know I should go on their forum and write this down" and someone beat me to it, they made the post today, just an hour or so after my post on here. I'm not mad, I just find it a little suspicious

He/She even mentioned him managing to survive because being a water conduit he would be free of the concrete and could breath under water without ease....come on basically what I said

http://n4g.com/news/1483842...

The only thing which stops this from happening is you could say the DUP machine at the start of the game let Reggie though....HOWEVER he did use his police clearance to get through which is why he went first. Maybe he wasn't scanned fully or if he was just to confirm who he was.

MRMagoo1233698d ago

In all honesty foxtrot I really dont think suckerpunch give a crap if you like the new powers or not. Your 2 comments make it seem like they should be concerned whether you are happy or not lol.

I say bring on what ever they have planned for us considering its completely fu@king free.

Conzul3698d ago

Uhuh.
And SP got the whole idea for smoke powers and plot from my inFamous 2 UGC Teach Me, Demon.

See, it's a conspiracy.

Shiken3698d ago

Earth (concrete) fire (smoke) wind (paper) water (uhhhh.....water?) Heart (video)

Delsin, "By your power combined, I am captain planet!"

Fetch and Ugene, "Go planet!"

Same moves, yes. Different kinds of powers? Yes. But, could they be used in the same situation? No.

The powers have weakness too: neon is weak in closed combat, smoke is weak in distance. Video is weak againts both. Depends of what approach you like. Im more a closed combat guy, so the power i used the most is smoke.

GarrusVakarian3698d ago

Completely agree, im playing through the game again now with evil karma on expert and there is no chance in hell that i could do it with smoke. I need the long range neon attacks, going up close with smoke would be suicide and it's not efficient enough at a distance.

-Foxtrot3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

Yeah but I don't think thats an excuse to limit power move sets.

In inFAMOUS 2 you could use the D-Pad to switch powers, in Second Son we don't have that. It's kind of boring to keep using your chosen powers set moves over and over

I'd rather have two powers like in inFAMOUS 2 with a lot of different moves then a lot of powers with the roughly the same move sets

Tempest3173698d ago

Honestly video is strong againsy both imo...a 3 second ranged blast kills most enemies, the anti air attack is stupid op, and a single melee combo will eithe kill someone or knock them on their ass for a while...the only mob ive had problems killing melee are the assholes that teleport every 2 seconds...the swing is too slow, they port before the second hit. ..other than that video isnt weak against anything imo

zerog3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

Video actually makes up close combat and boss fights easy imo. Go invisible, attack then right back invisible and you can take down a whole army one at a time especially when you can just turn invisible and go drain more video for your heavy attack which is how I took down the tough enemies and bosses. 4 more odd and end trophies and I got platinum, evil was the right choice to do the 2nd play through on expert. What sucks is only being able to draw concrete from dup enemies, didn't have any left after my 1st play through to really enjoy it.

MasterCornholio3698d ago

Why do you people always forget to warn about spoilers in your comments?

GameSpawn3698d ago

It also has one of the nicer Karma bomb attacks.

Personally I still fall back to Neon for fast traversal and pin-point attacks. The slow-mo while aiming helps too. The only thing I hate about Neon is the damn charge delay on the missile.

@-Foxtrot
You're right. The new powers are going to be the same move set but altered a little to fit the style of the chosen power.

The size of the patch would need to be at least over one gig(not 300mb) to add a completely new sequences animation and power move set.

Visiblemarc3698d ago

I dislike this "palette change" criticism of the power set in SS.

I find that they straddled the balance between having them vary and having them overlap.

If they were too different, it would possibly strand a player in a limbo where no one power feels complete enough.

As it stands, I love the differences between powers and love them all in different ways.

Akuma073698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

The 4 different powers that we currently have, each fit a role more so then unique powers. (Spoilers)

Neon: Long range fighting/best and fastest mode of transport
Smoke: More of a full frontal assault skill set. I use this when I just want to smash everything to pieces.
Video: More of a guerilla skillset. Allows you to get in, cause damage, and get out.
Concrete: Tank. Damage soaking with limited attack.

Each has it's own play styles. I use all of them equally while playing the game. Depending on how I want to achieve my goal.

cyclindk3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

Only problem I see is... the powers are just a tool, but if the thing you use the tool on, i.e. enemies/civilians, objects, environment don't all change too, react in new ways to fit the tool then it would be a very very short-lived boost to the game. Game is fun and great, but there is UNsurprisingly little to do beyond blast and traverse the terrain.

I guess I'm just more into games these days with TONS to do, but of course that wasn't my expectation with this title at all, it did what it intended to and did it very well.

Waiting for Watchdogs now

DanteVFenris6663698d ago

There is both of those powers. Smoke grenade press l1. And neon force push press square while running

Rickgrimes953698d ago

I would love an updated electricity power or maybe wire

Akuma073698d ago

After 2 games of electricity powers, I think that would be a huge cop out.

cyclindk3698d ago

Straight up fire as opposed to smoke, Wind would be awesome, really toss some cars and NPCs around, whirlwind.

Water be awesome too, pop those fire hydrants!

So fire, wind, water and concrete... = Captain Planet! Go Planet!

Mr-Dude3698d ago

New powers would be cool but then also new moves

Shane Kim3698d ago

I don't even think the triangle button is used other than to toggle the subtitles on and off. Make use of triangle sucker punch!

GarrusVakarian3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

One thing i thought to myself is "why isn't triangle used for melee combos?". It's one thing i really wished SP had a bigger focus on. The game needs more variety in the melee attacks.

Have triangle be a heavy attack and if its held down it does a little mini finisher. Mixing square and triangle could result in different combo with different animations.

Quite a missed opportunity on the melee front, imo.

ginsunuva3698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

Someone clearly played as evil

Sevir3698d ago

Paper seems to be the next thing as it's heavily evident by the Paper trail DLC. If he's referring to the mention of glass or Steal they'd have to dedicate a full 5 hour DLC pack complete with Story Cinematics and well thought out side missions.

Abriael3698d ago

AFAIK they explicitly said that Steel was discarded because it wasn't that good.

Akuma073698d ago

Well of course this game will have DLC content.

When the Paper Trail DLC was announced I am fairly certain they said it would include a new power, so obviously Paper.

mkis0073698d ago (Edited 3698d ago )

Very minor paper trail-so far- SPOILERS.

I keep thinking they might be trolling us with paper somehow and give us a different power...maybe from the 2nd poi(if I am interpreting it correctly) in paper trail.

Honestly the paper animation doesn't look as high quality as the other power sets. Look at the paper flying around near the doves "C" drops. The animation seems weird. Either way I'm sure I will like whatever happens.

Tempest3173698d ago

Respectfully, we have different definitions of quality...literally everyone I know IRL (including myself) thinks that paper looks awesome...the animations are totally badass, I really hope we actually get to use it at some point.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM123d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck123d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati123d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos123d ago (Edited 123d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88155d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183154d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie153d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
