OPM Reviews Race Driver GRID: "Codies leave the competition stalled on the line"

Part desire to step up to the next-gen plate, part fanaticism for driving thrills, above all else, Grid is a clear reaction to all-conquering Gran Turismo. Grid may be a new game, but it has a noble bloodline traceable right back to 1997's TOCA Touring Car Championship. From the start, these games had a dedication to furious racing in large packs of well matched cars. This is no different...except that Grid is far and away the best circuit racer Codemasters has ever produced. That, in turn, makes it one of the best racers, full stop.

a 9/10,that demo was pretty crap, the gameplay was so poor, ...u could not even turn or drift propley,.and the handling of the car felt so lose,the only thing good was the graphics and damage system..if this gets 9/10 when gt5 is relased it should get 10/10!!!!!!...from what i have played this gme is 7.5/10

Demo wasn't crap... Best demo i've played in a while. You just have to learn how the cars handle, once you get that down flying around the tracks are a blast.

The cars have 0 weight and the driving controls are incredibly unrealistic. I eventually got used to it and i was winning races but the whole stopping on a dime at 200mp just doesn't do it for me. I like a better balance between sim and arcade. Just because its not a sim game doesn't mean you should throw all sim elements out the window.

The result though is some will love it and some will hate it. It is in no way superior to prologue and i still haven't played that enough so i will skip it

The only reason this joke of a driving game is still getting any press at all was the pathetically fake screenshots and videos they put out that got 360 fans hopes up that this was somehow some sort of GT killer.

First of all I'm a big fan of simulators so I was a little dissapointed to find similar arcade handling to Dirt. They made this game to appeal to both arcade and sim fans so you just need to tweak a few things and you have an excellent simulator.
If you use either the bonnet or inside view, change the difficulty to the highest and take off assists it feels so real, it's totally amazing racing, especially the street race.
Can't wait for this!

Why do people hate the demo just because they cant drive (yes directed at highdro), the demo is great, online is so fun and adictive, took me a few races to get used to drifting but now i am quite good at it, still cant win but pratcie makes perfect, i am getting this game on day one, gonna trade NFS Pro Street, Burnout and GT5 Prologue.

Yes there is online mode, and online drifting sounds amazing, especially if it is more than one drifter on the track. I heard there will be 12 player online drifting on the same track but dont quote me on it.

I knew this game was going to rock!I just preordered mine yesterday at gamestop when I picked up Haze...I can't wait for the full version.Codemasters knows how to make a racing game and our friends at polyphony digital should take notes on the games physics before they release gt5 next year!I'm not bashing the gt series I'm a huge fan I would just like to see some realistic car physics to go with the photo realistic graphics

Ive been following the news on this game for a while and what really caught my attention was the damage effects and drifting.The people that think the demo sucks clearly suck at it because ive been playing racing games my whole life everything from GT to Forza to NFS so all it takes is skill.If you constantly stay on the gas and never brake youll eventually crash into a wall.Hmm maybe that was when the time you felt the game sucks.

I enjoyed the demo, especially the online mode. Except the idiots who crash on purpose into you at the start of the race.

i tried to get the handlying of the cars, but it just would not work 4 me, .....i prefer racing games that i can jus pick up the pad and play with out trying to get how the handling of the cars work,...i spent a couple of hours on the demo trying to get it right but it was still lose, look at gt5p, pgr4, forza...thoes are lovely racing games that u can easily pick up and play,.....i still say this game is 7.5/10.

The way I see it is Grid is a RACING simulator whereas GT is a DRIVING simulator.
Both are very good in their own right.
A mix of the two would be amazing, one day!

the racing could've been good had the driving been spot on but on the demo, the car seems to float with no weight to it all. so you have no idea when your car is about to spin out. what AI there is, is there to win at all cost, so you car get banged from all sides and. The graphics is good but not as good as the screenshots released earlier in the year. since i can't drive this with my G25, I'd probably let this one go by.

I am using the Logitech G25 wheel on the PS3 demo. It is the only reason I am getting the game (GRID) because it is compatible with the G25 wheel.

I thought graphics where amazing and the game had some of the best replay feature I've ever seen in a game...

I will buy when it comes out.. should be some good racing fun.

Basically the full version GRID would have the same physics as the demo, which was sort of disappointing but also quite enjoyable in some levels I suppose - like the Mustang GTR musclecar from the demo.
Only thing that saves this game for me is the fantastic line-up of racecars and a few tracks they'ved put in that I really want to try and see how good it would be like to race in - like the famous LeMans track and all those LMP1, LMP2 cars plus again those reborn next-gen musclecars like the Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger...
