Infamous second son Review - Crawleynews

Infamous: Second Son, developed by Sucker Punch and published by Sony, is the third outing for the Infamous franchise and the first for the new generation consoles, and following the death of Cole macgrath in the last one we have a new hero and story, complete with some of the most stunning visuals I have ever seen in a game.

Finished my first playthru 100%, I feel kind of sad now

The game is great, Sucker Punch are now my second favorite Sony studio after ND, they are part of the big league now

Will hold off my second playthru until the paper trail missions are compleat after 5 weeks, and can't wait for expansion

Magnes3703d ago

I'm loving it not rushing it. I go for zero % DUP before I touch the story quest in that section. Good job SP!!!

Christopher3703d ago

While Second Son is definitely an enjoyable and beautiful game, so far this year I've only played one game I'd even think of considering for GotY: South Park.

We definitely have failed to hit a groove as we move into the new generation. Hopefully the end of the year showers us with some great games.

NewMonday3703d ago

Second Son is a contender, the best game of 2014 so far IMOO

didn't play Dark Souls 2 because I'm not a fan but it is in the lead according to those played it.

from the upcoming games the Order is a dark horse but I feel Destiny could grab it.

titanfall is a better game more deserving of being a GOTY contender

Studio-YaMi3703d ago (Edited 3703d ago )

@bleedsoe9mm
"titanfall is better game"

Ahh,no it's not actually.

"more deserving of being a GOTY contender"

Probably deserves an award for innovation on the jump mechanics at least.(but not GAME OF THE YEAR)

Titanfall is fun to play & it has replay value, and that's about it,graphics are average(even the PC version that I have) and it's lacking modes(which will be presented later for free as Respawn said) and almost no story(even the bits of story they present is just lackluster with no immersion at all.

While Infamous:SS delivers a good game all around,good story,good gameplay,good graphics.

The problem with Infamous:SS though is it's just a game that you finish and then leave aside for the next best thing, like many other games,it just doesn't deliver replay value, something that a multiplayer only game(Titanfall!) does.

so all in all,I would give infamous:SS an 8.5/10 while Titanfall receives a solid 7/10 which will jump to an 8/10 when they deliver on their promise of more modes for free.

BTW bleedsoe9mm,I can judge Titanfall because I actually have the game,on the other hand,I bet a hand and a foot that you didn't play Second Son(probably don't even have a PS4) and just basing your opinion on videos from the Internet.

@bleedsoe9mm

You forgot to put "/s" at the end. At least i knew you was being sarcastic.

bleedsoe9mm3703d ago (Edited 3703d ago )

@Studio-YaMi hopefully there better games available before GOTY judging starts . i'd give titanfall a 8 mostly for pushing the FPS genre forward , and SS a 7.5 pretty game with dull missions . i have both games and both systems , just my opinions

I can think of many reasons why this is not a GOTY contender..

And this is coming from a PS4 launch day buyer

This game disappointed me. Great visuals but the core of the game is really cut and dry

iistuii3703d ago

I agree. I played through it being good & finished it. But am I gonna go through it again being bad... Nope, didn't enjoy it enough.

Crawleynews?

Either someone is scouting hard for reviews, or I have a neighbour that posts on N4G lol

Studio-YaMi3703d ago (Edited 3703d ago )

It's not much worse than the multi unknown websites that gave Titanfall a 9/10 or a 10/10.

I'll say these kind of websites are neck to neck with their biased opinions.
(yes, even opinions can be biased, but we all can share them unlike solid facts)

Volkama3703d ago

I wasn't really concerned about the review score or trying to claim bias. It's just weird to me to see my hometown's local Wednesday paper on the world stage.

I think my son is in it this week for his school's sport relief event.

Gore-Content3703d ago

Well deserved. This is gonna be my first Platinum trophy for the PS4!

SpinalRemains1383703d ago

I find Dark Souls 2 so enjoyable, even after 100 hours, that I haven't put more than 2 hours into Second Son. I just can't do it yet until I'm done with Dark Souls 2.

I know it may sound bizarre, but I'm just too committed to DS2 right now.

From what little I did play, Second Son is definitely sweet. I don't think I'll ever like Delsin as much as Cole, but I dig his 138 wooly.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM124d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck124d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati123d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos124d ago (Edited 124d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88155d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183154d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie154d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
