True or not the PS4 is capable of a lot of things. If you think emulation on the PS4 is impossible then why was I playing PS2 games on an old 1999 computer? Emulation is the key to this and Sony is going to bring the entire library back again. But Gaikai.... Upscaling to 1080p is nice and all, but this could be a lot bigger than just that. A while back Sony filed 2 patents, one for possibly adding trophies to older games, and another for adding new content to older games through emulation.

1. These PSOne, PS2, and possibly PSP games could have trophy support added, for simply completing each chapter than earning a gold for beating the game, and that's a way to get some gamers to go back replay their favorite games and earn some trophies.

2. Adding more content to these games could be huge, but realistically I could simply be a graphics mod for adding higher quality textures, and effects to go with the 1080p upgrade. So instead of that dull PSOne / PS2 world, you actually get better ground/foliage textures, better lighting, and hopefully better framerates.

This could be a nice addition to the PS4.

I think that patent is going to come to pass. It's a great move by Sony, and it could really push retro digital sales if publishers spend a bit on adding that trophy support to games. If it's added to the retail versions of the games as well I'd be very happy, as I own a ton of PS1/2 RPG's I'd love to go back and play with trophy support.;)

Adding more content though I can't see being a real big thing. That can take a considerable amount of money, and realistically, I believe most companies willing to do such a thing would more than likely just create an HD remake and cash in more.

Either way, just emulating PS1/2 locally would be a great thing for me.

I was looking forward to Elder Scrolls but after watching some vids on it, it kind of fell off for me and now idk what to look forward to lol. I dwindled it down by buying HD collections when I could or by trading in the ones I didn't want when Gamestop still took them. The local emulation has me at odds. I'd love it, I have a huge collection of PS1+2 RPG's that I still enjoy playing so great news in that regard.

Very curious how this plays into the Playstation Now strategy. I mean if this was very easy to do then yeah sure local emulation rocks but why wouldn't they just be adding these titles to the cloud instead so they have 1 coherent solution.

What I wouldn't want to see is confusion in the strategy. Consider the Playstation Live boxes or Bravia TV's with the Playstation Now service. We could possible end up with a confusing chart for support.
