Ether One Review [Capsule Computers]

Jamie Laike Tsui of Capsule Computers writes:

"Ether One is an adventure game that looks to bring back traditional puzzle-based adventure games that requires pen and paper to complete. After almost three years in development, the six person team at White Paper Games has completed Ether One, a first person adventure game where players will work as a Restorer on a quest to restore the memories of a patient suffering from dementia. Gamers can opt to explore the town of Pinwheel to uncover the patient’s story or choose to complete the many challenging puzzles to dig even deeper into the patient’s memories."

This game really annoyed me. I enjoyed the story and some of the puzzles were fun - I even completed it. The graphics were okay and the message made a healthy change.

But I wasn't able to fully complete it, since there was a glitch that meant you couldn't get some projector pieces if you did things in a certain order. It was all over the forums and the developers, White Paper Games, didn't bother to fix it, leaving me pissed to the point I won't buy their future games. /end rant

The game had issues and worst of all game breaking bugs, but I could eventually finish it and the ending was really something else, the build up to the ending and the ending per se left a really big impression on me.

Really enjoyed this game and having got it free via ps+ I was very pleased. A proper game that put the story first.
