Saiyan Island: "J-Stars Victory VS made it’s official release in Japan on March 19, 2014 and fans from countries across the globe have been importing Namco Bandai’s Shonen Jump manga crossover to take part in the action"
More and more Japanese games are being localized every year. Especially as anime and manga series develop larger, worldwide audiences. Jump Force is the latest to show up worldwide. While it might not be the best crossover title or have the most diverse character roster, it might be a good introduction into this sort of world. So, let's go a bit deeper and learn more about Weekly Shonen Jump crossover games.
VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "While fully-fledged fighting games on handhelds have achieved varying levels of success in the past, they weren’t really a thing until the PSP. Prior to this there would always be certain concessions to get them running on weaker hardware. Sony’s powerful portable console, however, allowed developers to experiment with new ways of delivering their titles that would sometimes be hugely successful (e.g. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection), which in turn meant new games were forthcoming throughout the console’s life. This mantra continued onto the Vita, which received ports of a number of high-profile fighting games, from launch through to the present day.
The ever-expanding industry of eSports has somewhat put a damper on handheld fighting games, as the fanbase moves increasingly towards arcade sticks, perfect latency, and other measures that always ensure a fair fight. That doesn’t mean the Vita doesn’t have access to its fair share of fighting games, though – whether you like 3D arena brawlers, party-friendly multiplayer titles, or pixel-perfect technical 2D fighters, you’re well served by the selection that’s available here, especially when including backwards-compatible PSP & PS1 games."
Amazon is currently having a sale on digital games for PS4, PS3, PS Vita and Xbox One, and they are offering up to 75% off on selected consoles and handheld games. So if you’re looking to buy some new digital games, you can receive massive discounts on games that you never thought would go below their retail price from this digital sale.
I really dislike these articles. Every day they're pretty much the same. It's just a random assortment of Amazon's usual sales. I don't understand why this is posted every single day with just a different sale name.
Is this really a review of the game or more so a review of the concept of the game?
I only ask because I've been playing J-Stars myself and was curious what the rationale was for the score (I expected some bias stuff given Saiyan Island is obviously more towards the fan side of things). Upon reading it and seeing the author claiming "over 30 hours of play time", it doesn't say much more than you could have figured out / guessed from trailers / screenshots and features few trivial complaints and even then it doesn't read like a 8/10 review. I would say closer to 6 or 7, though again, it's hard to say what the author really thought as most of the remarks are superficial and based more off the concept, than the literal game.
Anyway, it's a decent game, but it has a long way to go before being good. Right now the characters have very obvious tiers and the online is filled with people relying on the best characters and cheapest tactics to win (very common in online games, but some of these tactics are very hard to prevent / deal with). Things only get worse if you play with J-customization on, as that results in even more people relying on the cheapest and more overpowered tactics to win a match (like using Zangief's double lariat to beat the AI in Street Fighter IV bad).
While story mode has 4 different adventures, they're about as different as Ryu when compared to Evil Ryu or making a choice in the first inFAMOUS (regardless of choice, the outcomes were almost, if not always, the same with different paths to get there). The cash / level system seem pretty pointless in the long run (10+ hours). Like, you'll most likely max out on the main level system by the time you finish story and once you do that, about 30% of the items in the shop become worthless. After that all your money can go to Korin's tower vouchers, which give an absurd amount of money and those become largely worthless once you beat the 15 fighters. This just leaves cards, though I'm at about the 20 - 30 hour point and have almost every card, so I figure another 20 hours or grinding Korin's Tower for an hour or two would give me them all (besides the quest based ones) and make the money system for all intent and purpose worthless.
In the end, unless you're a huge fan of Jump or don't mind annoying tactics online, this game probably won't be your cup of tea.
the ranged fighters make online annoying. vegeta just keeps throwing ki blasts
i hope this game do good in japan,so bandainamco can improve the thing what need fix, sadly i need to wait a price drop to import.
