Metro: inFamous Second Son Review

Considering they’ve both come out within a week of each other, and are both the highest profile post-launch exclusives for their respective consoles, it’s very hard not to compared Titanfall with inFamous: Second Son. And yet the two titles couldn’t be more different. Titanfall is a multiplayer-only shooter with unremarkable graphics but superb gameplay, while Second Son has some of the best graphics ever and is purely single-player only.

Bundi3708d ago

So not the best game its genre?

tuglu_pati3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

Wow a 6... This one will make the featured section for sure. A bit too low i think.

ZodTheRipper3708d ago

The fact that this review starts with a Titanfall comparison is enough for me to give this site a pass.

LexHazard793708d ago

Have you played it? Seriously since your saying its low. How would you ratr it.

There some significant differences in these reviews 6 to 9.5! Regardless 6 is not a number I wanted to see in any review for this game! Wth!!

GarrusVakarian3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

Pre order cancelled. /s

Edit: He compares this to TF? Ultimate facepalm.

" it’s very hard not to compared Titanfall with inFamous: Second Son"

No, it's easy. They are *nothing* alike. The only thing they have in common is their month of release. Please stop comparing the too, they both cater to completely different tastes.

Patrick_pk443708d ago

"In terms of gameplay and story this hasn’t moved on at all from the previous generation." Didn't they give Titanfall a 9/10? Second Son has better AI, graphics, story, characters, gameplay and receives a 7/10. Gameplay will never change from generation to generation, I can tell easily from Titanfall, which felt identical to COD.

Shadonic3708d ago

and these are the people that gamers are looking too when it comes to making a decision on purchasing a game. I'm going to go work on my writing skills and try to get a job reviewing games. I mean come the hell on, next thing you know well have that guy from the watch dogs article giving watchdogs a 5/10 because it doesnt have flyable jets and airplanes like GTA. You gotta review the game for what it is not what its not.

-Foxtrot3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

Most of these low reviews compare it to Titanfall....is something going on where they've been told to not give it a better score then Titanfall and try to drive people reading the review away to go buy Titanfall instead.

Sorry about my cute tin foil hat but why would most of these sites compare the games when they are TOTALLY different.

Marquis_de_Sade3708d ago

I take it you didn't bother to read past the first sentence then?

How does that quote include a comparison of the two games, it's actually the opposite of that. The reviewer says that the games naturally would be compared against eachother because they are exclusive and high profile but then goes on to say "they couldn't be more different."

The reviewer obviously hates infamous and playstation and lives titanfall... oh no, that's not the case but of course, the people that actually take reviews too seriously are scared and clutching at straws to prove the reviewer wrong. calm down, the review is fair, style over innovation would get a 5 or 6 from the people that want both so 6 is generous for a reviewer expecting both.

I'll score it myself when I finish it and you all should too.

Volkama3708d ago

This review comes from The Metro, it's pretty mainstream and the comparison is relevant to people considering buying one of the consoles right now. The genres aren't so far apart that there will be no overlap in their target audiences (fact: I want both).

People following multiple reviews and gaming news need not face palm here, just recognise that parts of the review are not really applicable to you.

Ok first of all TF and second son are two different types of games this is a flame bate article !!!!

Review of a game should be nothing more than a review of said game, not a comparison to a game within a different genre on a different platform.

* Only comparison is that both are exclusives.

I never played the infamous games, so I'm not really into the series.

This game does look at least decent though, so whenever I get a PS4, I'll probably grab this at a reduced price. Maybe $20-30.

It's getting solid review scores though.

Any game in the 80/100 range is almost always worth trying out.

Volkama3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

Reviews typically exist to aid people in their purchasing choices. Direct comparisons against what else is available are quite a big factor in any purchase, so a review should include comparisons.

I was in the market for a new TV a couple of days ago. I studied reviews extensively, and I tell you if they did not include direct comparisons between TVs then I would be traveling to showrooms for my own meticulous side by side studies right now.

PSnation43708d ago

has near 1m preorders worldwide... infamous preorders already outselling titanfall total sales..

PokemonIsForKings3708d ago

I never understood why people compare inFamous and Titanfall. One is a single player third person action adventure and the other is a multiplayer only FPS. The only thing in common is they are both great games and the month they released. As for this score,I don't agree with it. I've been playing the game and it's a 8.5 to 9 for me.

PraxxtorCruel3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

They're comparing them because both are supposed to do wonders for the next generation platforms. Kickstart next-gen etc. I on the other hand could care less as long as they're fun to play.

Alsybub3708d ago

Exchange inFamous for PS4 and Titanfall for Xbox One and you'll have your answer.

I get how these are the flagship launch period titles, but they're nothing alike. Hell, one is SP only the other is MP only. And in different genres. Either way, got both, I'm happy.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM123d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck123d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati123d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos123d ago (Edited 123d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88155d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183154d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie153d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
