God of War showcased in VR on PS4

VRFocus - Sony has showcased its God of War franchise running in virtual reality (VR) at the its GDC Presentation in San Francisco. The demo was reportedly a first-person showcase that put players in the shoes of series protagonist Kratos. A violent demonstration of what was possible in VR then followed on.

God Of War PS4(EMS activated) Hmm let's rock!

Ezz20133710d ago (Edited 3710d ago )

***Sony’s Shuhei Yoshia, who noted that “When I looked down, I saw my body was that of Kratos. It was an empowering experience.”***

imagine using this while playing The last of us or infamous SS or Batman arkham knight etc

this is sooo awesome
now i want ps4 more than ever
no more wait
next month, i'm getting it

GarrusVakarian3710d ago (Edited 3710d ago )

I suspect many existing games to be enabled for VR, in first person.

Mmmmmmm, VR Batman.

Apparently Thief is compatible already.

“When I looked down, I saw my body was that of Lara Croft. It was an engorging experience.”

diehardmetallicafan3710d ago

Ah man I'm just running all these stealthy typed games through my head like deus ex hr, hitman absolution ect. I'm really excited about this! For 3rd person games though it's all about the recognisable body of the protagonist. Either way the right thumb stick will be free for more inputs!!

Ezz20133710d ago (Edited 3710d ago )

@AgentSmithPS4

lol
**Shuhei Yoshia is playing Tomb Raider with VR**

Kaz: shu,why are you touching yourself like that ?! 0_o

Flutterby3710d ago

Could you imagine a detective game using VR like la noir , I would buy a detective VR game in seconds

LexHazard793710d ago

Ezzz, you trying to start something?

I'm also looking forward to what MS has aswell. Kinect 2.0 and a VR headset would go great together!

Gazondaily3710d ago (Edited 3710d ago )

Well this would only work for FPS games though (my fav genre so Im not complaining lol).

ramiuk13709d ago

imagine 2 move controllers on this player god of war.
be mind blowing!!!

but alot of games would be good on this.
remember the gadget show VR setup on BF4?

Kidmyst3709d ago

I hope they bring GTAV to PS4 and have that supported. I'd re-buy and play the game all over again. Oh wait, almost forgot about the dances...

Blasphemy3709d ago

this is what the evolution of the wii should have been. but of course nintendo is to cheap to create something like this at this time.

Indo3709d ago

Good luck finding a some in stock.

Utalkin2me3709d ago

@Septic

This is would not only work for fps. It would work with all type of games. Sure fps would work better and have more immersion. But using it in any game would automatically add extra immersion.

Sci0n3709d ago (Edited 3709d ago )

We at playstation nation welcome you and any of the other early adopters aboard. The PS4 truly is a amazing console so you won't be disappointed. Got the PS4 at launch waited on getting the cam then just finally landed one a week ago and now im am ready for the morpheus.

SecondSon3709d ago

I remember mentioning that VR was the future 6 years ago and the majority of people slating me! Kudos to Sony for being an early adopter... VR is the future of gaming and movies.

Kryptix3709d ago (Edited 3709d ago )

@Septic

Correction, it will work with anything, but better in games in the "first person view." And genres that don't commonly use the first person view camera can be tweaked for VR use.

Imagine playing a platformer or hack and slash game with this, tweaked to FPV. Even some RTS games would work, actually. Making you feel like the commander viewing the battlefield from a satellite camera while you stand in the command room. Too many good ideas with this.

i can imagine playing this with silent hill, resident evil, siren, outlast, fatal frame, and the list goes on. that would be intense.

or what if you played street fighter and was in back of chunli while she did a kikouken LOL. now thats an experience LOL.

Hozi893709d ago

God I would love to play over Mirror's Edge and Skyrim with this!!!

jackdaniels3709d ago

VR makes you feel sick, and didn't VR die a death about 20 years ago - more gimmick than useful - PASS

I would prefer Sony to focus on new IPs specifically with VR in mind rather than converting 3rd person games into 1st person. however, it is probably the option with less risk and cost if VR isn't successful.

webeblazing3710d ago

Yeah your right. Gow would be the dumbest game for vr. He doesnt move normal, he moves like a animal, all that spinning its just too much. Vr will slow down a lot of the pace that's in games . I kind confuse how you make a article about one sentence someone said. Oh well sound interesting at least they're experimenting.

webeblazing3709d ago (Edited 3709d ago )

people disagree without state why. i a big gow fan how would you do this game in vr. think about it. look at what he does in game, you are aware of everything around thats why you can perform the moves and that why hes a bad@$$. the stuff like jump doing spin combo moves, how is that going to translate to vr. the fast pace nature of everything he do, how are you going to keep up with what he can do and at the same time being aware of the environment. and thats without talking about his power that would mess up the players(hermies boots, power move that dives fast to the ground, chain moves that grab enemy to enemy, etc.) plus the fast pace of his combos that fling him constantly across the the area.

Porcelain_Chicken3709d ago

"people disagree without stat(ING) why"

Because the thought of tying chains around my Move controllers & flailing my hands with reckless abandon gets me all sorts of excited. It would relieve stress, gimme a workout, satisfy my inner gamer, keep murderers off the streets AAAAAAAAND I can have sex orgies with hot greek Cgi women in a god-like hugely proportioned "I'll never look like that" body.

Why not again?

Also It's not like they can't make new and old ip's on the Morpheus. Also It would be cool if the baddie in the first VR GoW game was the God Morpheus. Like a legitimate baddie not like Chains of Olympus. I'd get a few chuckles outta that. I'd be like "Die Morpheus!, he he"

ThatOneGuyThere3709d ago (Edited 3709d ago )

it could be a VR mini game mode. you stand there and defend against hordes of monsters with your swinging move hands. it would be glorious.

beerzombie3709d ago

First person shooters and especially third person games really are probably not the best type of games. If the your look is your head movement your neck might start from hurting from twitch movements. Especially if they build scale into the environment you would be looking up a lot, but it might be cool even in Titanfall.

gamer11383710d ago

How does VR look and feel with anything that isn't first person? I mean god of war is a classic third person hack and slash, does everything with VR have to be in first person? Some one mentions last of us. How would cut scenes look? Would it be weird?

dcj05243710d ago

The Oculus has been used in Real time strategy games and Third person games.

millerj27403710d ago

Fallout, elder scrolls, driving games, mirrors edge, outlast... im all for games that already use 1st person, but I dont think id like playing 3rd person hack n slash with vr...

Grindlefly3709d ago

The elder scrolls would be absolutely mind blowing

Porcelain_Chicken3709d ago

Although i can see how lockpicking would get annoying. Especially if you have sh*tty eye vision (,_, ) or Parkinsons D:

Not complaining so long as carrying 17 wheels of cheese doesn't get tedious. :D

mariopasta53d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts53d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos53d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts53d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa53d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
