The Year of Luigi officially concludes tonight at midnight. Another one of Nintendo’s iconic characters must approach the dark stage front, slide a dim-lit foot into the bright shining spotlight, and prepare for a year of due recognition fueled by fun-filled gaming experiences and strategic marketing campaigns. But who will be the chosen one?
The Mandalorian has been out on Disney Plus for while now, and Baby Yoda has captured our hearts with its Force of Cuteness. Here are a few childlike video game characters that are just as cute as he is.
Since I was a kid, I have always seen Chao's as the cutest ficitional creatures, but Baby Yoda is really staking a claim for that title.
When asked to name a key Nintendo franchise, most people's first thoughts would likely turn to Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Metroid. However, over the years Nintendo has consistently made games with Yoshi as the star. These titles have fleshed-out Nintendo's release schedule nicely across various console generations, sometimes taking the form of puzzle games but more often than not coming in the form of 2D platformers.
Yoshi has of course gone on to be a stable in Nintendo games ever since Super Mario World, with appearances in spin-off games such as Mario Kart, Mario Party, Super Smash Bros. and the many Mario sports games over the years. He also played a big role in Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Wii of course, but this cheeky dino has established himself as the star in many games of his own.
With the release of Yoshi's Crafted World coming up soon, what better time to look over the one-time sidekick's rich history as the star of his very own series of games?
To celebrate the Switch release of Yoshi's Crafted World, Greysun from Twinfinite ranks all 8 mainline Yoshi games from worst to best.
Yoshi's Island DS was better than the original imo. But that's subjective. Also: WAHHH WAHHHH WAHHHHH WAAHHHHH WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
That's cool with me. Yoshi's a fun character and he is getting a new console game at some point.
I would prefer for them to not focus on any one character again. The year of Luigi thing kinda annoyed me.
Good article! I can easily see this year being the year of the Yoshi. I hope they do some really cool stuff for Yoshi. Things this year I would like to see for year of the Yoshi.
1. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Virtual console release.
2. An actual release date and new information for Yarn Yoshi Island.
3. Yoshi announced for Smash!
4. Yoshi Island/N64 Virtual console release.
That tongue....
Year of Link please.
