PlayStation Plus: Thomas Was Alone & Unit 13 for Members

By Kristine Steimer: "Thomas Was Alone is a charming puzzle platformer where a group of AI shapes try to find their way through various environments. Who knew that basic shapes could be so adorable? Each new friend brings something unique to the puzzle solving formula, so you’ll need to figure out how to use their talents to your advantage. This title is also Cross-Buy, so Plus members will receive this for both PS3 and PS Vita"

Kingthrash3603695d ago (Edited 3695d ago )

lol this^^^
i'll never understand complaints over free sh!t.
take a look at gwg and see why you should be more appreciative.

stavrami-mk23695d ago

lol i know where your coming from i don't think there nothing wrong with them repeating some ps plus games as some might of missed them and also sony don't need paying out for 5-6 games every month across ps platforms but i think its 3 months in a row for vita games that have had repeats , i mean if you are gonna do it split it up a little i don't think i'm asking the earth to be moved or anything

thorstein3695d ago

Thomas Was Alone is a repeat? Damn, I should have got it last time.

Castle Storm is coming soon (not Plus I don't think)... I can't believe the indie love!

WeAreLegion3695d ago (Edited 3695d ago )

Dead Nation was for PS4 this month. Thomas Was Alone, Tomb Raider, and Lone Survivor are for PS3. Mod Nation and Unit 13 are for Vita.

TheLastGuardian3695d ago

Modnation is from last month. Next week we're getting Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite. Vita owners got 4 games this month counting the two cross-buy titles.

Eonjay3695d ago (Edited 3695d ago )

"You can download Thomas Was Alone and Unit 13 after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow, 3/18."

They were already announced, but they won't hit the free program until the 18th. The activate certain deals at certain points in the month.

MoveTheGlow3695d ago

If you read the article, check out the current PS Plus lineup they have there. Can't argue with that collection!

Delsin_Rowe3695d ago

You know those Plus game never came out free for U.S. It came out in Europe so don't come out saying Repeat games out no where without providing facts. You don't deserve this service that PlayStation offer us, you going to say such thing Sir. PlayStation offer new games each month and remember there different region that might just received the game already but doesn't mean they put it free again. U.S./ Europe are diffent PlayStation store, Plus games, offers.

kingPoS3695d ago

I wouldn't mind a repeat of Mass Effect 3.

any news on whats for ps4 ps+ update for april?

xHeavYx3695d ago

Too soon, normally the announce that on the last week of the month

Neonridr3695d ago

I'm hoping it's Daylight. I am going to assume it will be another indie title because I doubt Sony is going to give away full retail games yet. Knack may be the first one they give away, but I still feel like that will be a ways off yet.

Baka-akaB3695d ago

Who knows ? They game pretty much sold what it could (wich was surprisingly good) and was already offered with launch japanese ps4 . Seems like the quick next step would be it being the first retail free game .

Imo it's either that or NFS rivals

Clover9043695d ago

Polygon has an article saying Secret Ponchos will be April's ps plus game.

psDrake3695d ago

PS plus is great but not sure if its helping Sony financially. Take it from me. The last Vita game I bought was Tearaway ( when it was discounted to $18 during x-mas sale and the last ps3 game of mine that I actually paid was Puppeteer for $7. )

Since then I didn't even spend a penny knowing that ps+ will give me decent 4-5 Vita&PS3 games every month. Not to mention, Vita library isn't that huge so I knew that games like Unit 13, M.N.Racers, Thomas was alone, and other indies will eventually make their way to the ps plus.

PS3 games even more awesome. Seriously, BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Remember Me, Borderlands 2, Grid 2, DMC, Brothers, Lone survivor etc...

My point is as long as I have PS+, I don't think I will ever spend a single penny on ps3/Vita games knowing that sooner or later they will make their way to ps+.

I know supporting developers matter, and I am willing to do that but as a cost-conscious student, I just can't help but love the ps+.

I'm glad to have the instant game collection. I've got about 16 games on my PS3 that I still need to play/complete.

I also find it difficult to justify spending money on some new games when I have so many already that I haven't played. Because you don't know which games will end up in the instant game collection I still buy new games that I really want to play. I bought the recent Thief game and will be buying Infamous Second Son as well as The Witch and the Thousand Knites.

Knushwood Butt3695d ago

I do see your point about being a PS+ member possibly losing sales of other, non-PS+ games.

I too haven't bought a Vita game for a long time because my Vita backlog of PS+ games is already pretty huge.

I skipped on Tearaway for that same reason.

Still, I love PS+

Orionsangel3695d ago

SSX should have been FREE on Plus by now. It's a forgotten bargain bin title that is screaming to be on Plus. Instead we get this shit.

imXify3695d ago

Pleeease Sony stop with all those free games. I can't keep up...

imXify3695d ago

I have 25 games in my list waiting for me haha, I pick them up and I get on vacation I'll play them all :P

Hicken3695d ago

Like you xbox people, we pay for the online. The games are free.

Team_Litt3695d ago

Really? On ps3? I do not pay for PSN on PS3.

Review: Thomas Was Alone - Nintendolife

As it’s a package from 2013 of a game that reportedly sold a million copies, you probably already know if you need to get Thomas Was Alone. If you haven’t played it and you have a Switch then you absolutely must get the demo – right away, no excuses. Its playful elucidation of how games work shouldn't be missed by anyone interested in the medium. The full game gives you a few hours of good platforming with great presentation and a well-told story. And as an artefact of its era of indie games, Thomas Was Alone is a delight. The game can be experienced start-to-finish in a few short sessions and Bithell’s commentary provides a sort of meta-narration to motivate another playthrough if you haven’t heard it before. In short, Thomas Was Alone was pretty great when it came out, it’s held up well and now it’s on your Switch.

Review - Thomas Was Alone (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Leo Faria: "I thought Thomas Was Alone was just going to be yet another pretentious indie darling, but I’m glad to know I was dead wrong. It’s not only a well-designed puzzle platformer with good controls, but also a story-driven treat for the eyes and ears, a game that will make you care about a bunch of moving rectangles, somehow. It might not be very replayable (actually, let’s double down on this: it’s devoid of replayability), but it’s still pretty fun while it lasts. No matter where you decide to play it – and believe me, there are tons of platforms to choose – this game is worth experiencing at least once."

Any game that can make you care about basic shapes is doing something right IMHO.
