Watch Dogs lasts 35-40 hours for "a player which does free roam a bit tend to reach the end"

" I would say the average player which does free roam a bit tend to reach the end within 35-40h. But doing everything is close 100h. "

according to Jonathan Morin, creative director of Watch Dogs

Good. Visual downgrades don't effect me since I have a gtx 780 and would get some decent graphics out of it. I really hope they patch in shooting while driving. I just can't wrap my head around not being able to shoot while driving. forcing you only to hack is a bummer.

LOGICWINS3712d ago

Either way, theres no excuse for the downgrade...especially with good looking games like Second Son on the horizon.

US8F3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

You are right, I never commend false advertising.

I was going to buy a ps4 at launch but then couldn't justify buying a system that had no games I'm interested in. The only one is second son, but its like buying a game for $500(ps4+game+tax), something I don't do. I will wait to see the best exclusives for a game console and then buy it. probably this holiday season.

I have been obsessively watching neogaf thread about infamous the past hour and to find out that the share button produces a compressed image and the graphics still looking insanely good from the screens is mindblowing. I can't believe watch dogs are unable produce something similar on the ps4 with so many years working on this game and so many people

LOGICWINS3712d ago

This holiday season would be a great time to buy a PS4 as you'll already have plenty of games to choose from. PS Now should be up and running by that time as well.

osprey193712d ago

Cutscenes are one thing, but gameplay footage wise the graphics quality simply hasn't changed.

wonderfulmonkeyman3712d ago

And there's no excuse for calling this downgrade a dealbreaker unless the person complaining is just a whiny first-world-problems-carrying graphics whore.
This game looks fine despite the downgrade.
People need to quit caring so damned much about the sparkles. This isn't f***ing TWILIGHT.

AliTheSnake13712d ago

Here we go again.
This post is not about visuals nor downgrades, so shut up about it already.

HomerDog3712d ago

still looks better than infamous and it 40hrs of Gameplay.

Hydrolex3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

Visual downgrades are only for consoles... facepalm !

for PC, your hardware will decide what settings are the best to maximize the potential of your PC.

AliTheSnake13712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

There is no visual Downgrade for next-gen from the ps4 footage shown last september . It's just people bitching about a F-ed up gif, and everyone else getting on the bandwagon, with very little to no proof at all. Even though Ubisoft, also made a statement that there is no Downgrade.

Gozer3712d ago

Even with this alledged downgrade 35-40 hours for a singleplayer game is worth a buy, assuming the gameplay doesn't get tedious.

JBSleek3712d ago

You compare Watch Dogs a game that is not only being made for multiple platforms 6 to be exact to one that only is made for the PS4. Such an unfair comparison.

Dravidian3712d ago

Not a good comparison. I'm sure that if Ubi spent all of their dev time on the ps4 version it would look better.

That being said, ubi released more footage of the game a while ago and it's a lot closer to the e3 footage than the story trailer was. I guess whatever they used to capture the video didnt render it well. That or youtube screwed the video up....which is something it's known to do occasionally.

ITPython3712d ago

@Hydrolex - Just look at TF on the PC, which doesn't look that impressive at all even running on max settings.

Downgrades affect all. Playing a game like this on PC is the same as polishing a turd. It may be bit more shiny, but it still looks like a turd.

minimur123711d ago

Its quite rare for a western game to include so much, but 50 hours for a roamer and 100hr complete is pretty impressive, AC IV is another one of these games but all quests/ side quests and 60% of collectibles for me came to 50 hours and it was the funniest game I've played in a long time.

diehardmetallicafan3712d ago

maybe the visuals have dropped due to the platform parity thing from microsoft?

BG115793712d ago

I concur with you.
When I see Second Son's graphics, I surely believe ir.

dcj05243712d ago

There was never a downgrade on PS4 though. People are comparing PC footage to PS4 footage which is just foolish.

heisenberguk3712d ago

No they aren't! Why do people keep saying that? They're comparing the PS4 gameplay from a few months ago to what was just released!

numNuts3712d ago

Go play GTA5. And you wonder why dev's are uneasy about trying anything different.

MicDude3711d ago

Off topic: Yeah! GTX 780 club FTW lol

Unfortunately, next gen consoles are not powerful enough to handle the Watch_Dogs of E3 2012. Is what Ubisoft did misleading? Not necessarily. It depends on whether or not Ubisoft knew what the next gen consoles specs were at the time. Maybe Ubisoft thought these consoles would be more powerful but there is no way to no for sure because they would never admit to anything.

I play games not graphic's. Journey is one of the most highest regarded games last year. The Walking Dead is game of the year. Everyone is a technician on this site. Remember this, playing graphic's you will only miss out on some of the most extravagant game coming out. Indies on the come up.

LOGICWINS3712d ago

????

But without graphics you wouldn't be able to see the game...sooo how would you play it without the graphics? I'm very curious to know.

Ashunderfire863712d ago

Ok LOGICWINS

Your thinking too hard so take a chill pill. He doesn't literally mean gameplay without graphics. He's talking about playing the game for the fun factor, not just the looks. If he wanted to just look he would watch a movie. Man people nowadays just take things literally out of context, and just keep running with it nonstop.

wonderfulmonkeyman3712d ago

You know full well that he was referring to super-high-end graphics specifically, and not all graphics period.

Summons753712d ago

He's saying they aren't as important as gameplay. They reason why Journey and The Walking Dead were highly regarded was because of the gameplay. The had deep gameplay which felt good and natural to play, the levels in Journey were designed very well so you never had a question of where you were going, you had a clear goal in sight you never once had a giant arrow or pop up text telling you where to go or reminding you what to do.

Graphics do not make the game, it's the reason why we have tons of classic games from the Nes/SNES/64/psone that we still play and highly regarded today. Not because they had eye melting graphics but because the gameplay and level design was amazing.

Graphics do matter but they should be the last in the chain of thought for making a game. Just look at the games that do focus on graphics over gameplay, Crysis: great visuals, bland gameplay, GTA: Great visuals, great open world, boring gameplay and bland story.

Ashunderfire863712d ago

Sorry Logic but you didn't win this time.

Read my other post.

yezz3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

@Summons75

While the story was somewhat dull, I think GTAs gameplay is actually quite good, especially for a game that size.. :/

LOGICWINS3712d ago

@Ashunderfire- U sound extremely defensive. Why I don't know. All I did was ask a question...which still hasn't been answered yet mind you.

dcj05243712d ago

Summons Journey's graphics were insanely important and it did get awards for that.

numNuts3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

Oh, thats just stupid!

wsoutlaw873712d ago

I think these are bad examples. Journeys art style is what makes the game and the graphics are good. The walking dead is good because of the story and the fact that its different.

plaZeHD3712d ago

That's called aesthetics not graphics.
Those game's visuals would last longer than Watch Dogs or any other game that tries to look too realistic.

BitbyDeath3712d ago

Both Journey and Walking Dead have great graphics though.
Not being realistic doesn't mean the game has bad graphics. Being a blurry, jaggy mess with low res textures is what makes a bad looking game.

blackout3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

I clarified my comment in the paragraph i wrote. If you can read then you would understand. I just gave you examples of games that don't look as good as others and look at the reception they received. There seems to be this thing going around that a game has to be a graphical powerhouse to be excepted. Don't care how a game looks. If you enjoy what your playing then what matters. Graphics help but gameplay will always rule, that's what keeps everyone going be to there favorite games. GAMEPLAY

Ashunderfire863712d ago

People take things out of context and run with it too often. I gave you an agree, because I understand unlike some people who thinks too hard.

LOGICWINS3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

Woopee! You care about gameplay more than graphics. Thats cute. We're all very happy for you.

But guess what? To me and many others who dropped half a grand on a next gen console and are buying games at $60, gameplay/graphics/sound/storyt elling/value are all EQUALLY important.

When I buy a game, I don't just plan on playing a game. I plan on having an experience. Visuals are an important part of that experience.

Now...if I purchase an indie game for $15 or so, then yes, gameplay reigns supreme as I didn't spend the full $60 for a full next-gen experience. Resogun barely has a story and only has a few levels, but thats okay, because I only spent 15 bucks or got it for free via Plus.

But when I spend $60, EVERY aspect of that game needs to be on point. U seem like one of those people who would have bought Ground Zeroes at $60. If true...then God Bless. As for me...I'm not about that life.

extermin8or3712d ago

Yeah I fond gameplay to be slightly more important bit annoyed at what seemingly is a downgrade however its not bad enough that the game wont be perfectly enjoyable I'm sure. It also just occurred to me whT of the trailers are using ps4 share capture then edited into the trailer... could mean there really is no downgrade and thats just the capture quality... a guy can hope right? :p)

Sniperwithacause3712d ago

Just to give your a taste of your own medicine.
Which one was it, did u buy Resogun? Or did you get it free? Couldn't have done both.

LOGICWINS3712d ago

I got it free off Plus, but my sub expired :/

heisenberguk3712d ago

Will it get downgraded to 15/20hrs before launch though?

Gamesgbkiller3712d ago

I'm exited to play this.

I hope I can find a PS4 by then.

Watch Dogs Deserves A Remake, More Than Ever

With the world of information and technology, privacy and security growing every day, Watch Dogs deserves another chance in the spotlight, now more than ever.

RaidenBlack1020d ago

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.
All 2014+ Ubi titles are just underwhelming. Especially ones from 2016+ are just cancer.

LucasRuinedChildhood1020d ago (Edited 1020d ago )

Seriously, are we so far removed from Ubisoft actually making good games that people now praise Watch_Dogs in retrospect?

"Watch_Dogs has remained one of my favourite games of the last ten years." Jesus Christ.

HankHill1020d ago

I remember being so disappointed in Watch Dogs when I played it at release. It was alright, but I think I fell for the hype and I needed a game to play on my new PS4.

obidanshinobi1020d ago

This is what happens when mediocrity gets praised as good.
Standards are slipping across the whole entertainment industry.
What was once considering rubbish is now considered as OK, what once was OK is now being praised as good etc etc.

LamerTamer1020d ago

Everyone has their own likes. I liked it a lot myself. I played through it twice and liked the car chases and the open world with fairly decent environments and missions. It suffered from the whole downgrade thing where they showed graphics that weren't actually there. No game will appeal to everyone but it was still ambitious for it's time.

gantarat1020d ago

assassin's creed 1 should get a remake.

ExBee1020d ago

For certain! AC1 was brilliant at the time but with new graphics and gameplay it would be amazing! Do you prefer old combat or new though?

RaidenBlack1020d ago

I'd say a reimagining of AC1.
I direct AC1 remake would be a bad idea. It'll need better story pacing and significant better world building.

BlaqMagiq11020d ago

Old. Let it play like how it did with AC2-Syndicate style gameplay but refine the setting and story.

Profchaos1020d ago

It would need a lot changed for it to be enjoyable again as even back in 2007 on launch we were all complaining about it's repetitive gameplay go here perform one of three side quests repeat then assassination now do it over and over until a big battle with a unforgiving checkpoint system.

BlaqMagiq11020d ago

Absolutely. It needs it. The only AC I truly didn't enjoy.

chicken_in_the_corn1020d ago

I'd prefer it didn't. Ubisoft would make it so bloated, it wouldn't be anywhere near the original

smolinsk1020d ago (Edited 1020d ago )

Absolutely, this watch dogs legion was terrible boring.

Profchaos1020d ago (Edited 1020d ago )

As a fan of the franchise legion was garbage and I regretted my purchase for the first time in the franchise the entire thing felt like an experiment in NPC behaviour and released without the writers input on what makes a good story.

I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though as wrench and Aiden are brought back and the campaign was rewritten to fit them.

I am tempted to buy the season pass to play it again with Aiden but fool me twice shame on me I'm waiting for a deep sale

camel_toad1020d ago

Agreed. Despite the annoying hipness of the characters in part 2 I thought it was a really fun game. I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how many steps back they took with Legion. You'd think it was made by an entirely different team. Or was it?

It was just so devoid of fun.

LamerTamer1020d ago

Honestly one of my biggest annoyances with Legion is that they took out the camera views for the driving. I mean the behind the car view that they stuck us with is near unplayable. I always used a first person driving view. After two releases why did they take OUT features? I don't get it.

TheSinsibleOne1020d ago

The fist watchdog game was the best by far
After that they weren't weird and annoying with that hipster stuff. Aiden was a badass.

LamerTamer1020d ago

I thought so at first too. I got used to it and it ended up being good after some play time. I just had to give it a chance.

TheEnigma3131020d ago

Remake the PoP series from xbox/ps2/gc era

RaidenBlack1020d ago

They are remaking Sands of Time.

TheEnigma3131020d ago

That's good news. Hopefully it's done right.

Inside the Driver game that died so that Watch Dogs could live

From VG247: "When cars slide, they leave tyre marks. In a game like Driver, they’re an aesthetic touch, part of the inherent cool of a handbrake turn. But those dark shadows in the road also tell a story. From tyre marks, you can determine the speed of a vehicle, when it started to skid, and its ultimate direction of travel – long after the car itself has vanished into the distance."

vallencer1085d ago

Different spellings in different parts of the world friend. Tyre is a correct way to spell it.

Pridefall1085d ago

Dunno why you got downvpted when tyre is correct in Australia.

neutralgamer19921085d ago

Give us driver San Francisco remastered

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1085d ago

Why did they stop making some of the best games ever? Driver was one of them.

Gameseeker_Frampt1084d ago

Assassins Creed 2 showed Ubisoft how to make money and Far Cry 2 showed them that gamers don't like complex ideas. Now Ubisoft just turns out games that are just variations of the same thing.

WeAreLegion1085d ago

Best driving mechanics ever made. Nothing has come close.

Gardenia1085d ago

A story driven game with pure driving gameplay. I'd love to see a new Driver game or a remake of the first one.

ApocalypseShadow1085d ago

Yes. This one. A definite remake of the first without adding any ridiculous fluff. The first game had great physics and sound for its time. The start of the car in the beginning cinema I watched constantly. My father and uncles were big muscle and classic car freaks. Only thing crazy about the game was the relentless cops in the last level. Insane the way those police cars were and launched at you.

Bleemcast made it look better just like PC emulators. But would definitely take a remake.
