700,000 copies of Age of Conan shipped for launch

Collector's Edition sold out even with an extended run of 110,000 units.

Funcom has announced that it has shipped around 700,000 copies of Age of Conan to retailers for day one, including 110,000 units of the sold-out Collector's Edition. Interest in the game has been so strong that Funcom has been unable to fulfill all orders in several markets due to current server capacity limitations. Extra orders of servers are now in place to ensure more customers can begin playing.

WOW is the Only Game in town thats "Friendly" to masses, only people that are Buying Conan are they people that are ACKING for Anything but WoW ....

so yea its selling.

and why would ANYONE buy this for XBOX when PC version will be Waaaaaayyyyyy beter in gfx and control, and NOT Down graded hard.

im buying. i dont think it will wipe wow , nothing will. but wow has gotten a bit old. Its still a good mmoprg. the most succesfull anyway. but AoC will be more grown up and will give a new alternativ to the old wow.

they didnt do an open beta with so I wont be buying it at least anytime so beside got gta and ng2 in a couple of weeks

Actually they had 3 open betas. One was a general open beta, another was a stress test of the sorts, and the last which was last weekend was a pvp one.

So yes, they had an open beta. :)

You don't measure MMOs by units sold like you do with normal games. In that genre its all about the subs. If they have 500K subs three months from now then Conan is a hit.
