More Info on Recording Function in PS3

The developper of Mainichi Issho posted a new entry on his blog explaining the recording function in Playstation 3.

Here is a rough translation:

"The highlight of the update was definitely the video camera (recording) function.

"This isn't a function we developped ourselves. We merely implemented what came with PS3 as a standard feature. Although it requires one SPE, it provides the ability to record on HDD without modifying the existing code too much. Wonderful! Not only that, although it depends on the recording format, the maximum resolution you can record (with one SPE) is 640*360.
For this monthly update, unfortunately, because the feature to upload movies to youtube was more important, we had limitation on resolution and bit rate."

a little more can be found after the link.

I wish all PS3 games had this feature

isn't this guy basically saying its already there?...that devs can utilize a record function if they want to?...

I think this sounds really awesome...the auto-upload thing is a cool idea, but I would rather just be able to send game videos to friends though the xmb and stuff...hopefully some shooters take advantage of this...Halo 3 implementing something like this was by far the best thing that game had...

but lots of stuff would need adjusted, which makes it seem unlikely that many games will use this...for one, the file size cap is retardedly low on the PSN right now...I can't even send a decent res picture to friends through the xmb, let alone an SD video (yet you can upload it easily to a remote storage site, and they can access it)...be pretty pointless to not be able to fire stuff back and forth off your list...

cool idea though, this is stuff I can wait for...the in game messaging?...I've wanted that since 2006...

Not for Fun: A look into the emotional, the provocative, and the controversial.

Games are an evolving medium. Every year we see innovations
on how these technologies are used and the types of stories
being told through them. Sometimes those stories arn't happy
ones, but games are the best language to hear them in.

just kidding, i don't care. :|
maybe no one was using this costly game anymore or perhaps it has to do with the release of the blu-ray "Toro to Morimori"...

Mainichi Issho is a great app from the Japanese store. :( Sure, I cannot read Japanese and all I can see are cute cats, but it had very robust features and mini-games. I always hoped they'd release this over in the NA territories translated, but I guess this is one dream culled.

1UP: Mainichi Issho Hands-On Preview

Mainichi Issho (literally, "together every day") isn't about any one thing in particular. It seems more like a concept that arose out of an idea like, "hey, let's make these two cute cats and have them host lots of entertaining activities!" We've seen some pretty Japanese stuff at Tokyo Game Show, and this is about as Japanese as it gets.
