Final Fantasy Type-0 Fan Localization Has A Release Date

Angie Santiago writes: "Final Fantasy Type-0 has been heralded as one of the best games in the Final Fantasy franchise. It received a near perfect score from Famitsu (39 out of 40) and received high scores from other publications. Fans of the franchise here in the west were looking forward to being able to play this game but received the short end of the stick when a localization never happened."

Looking forward to it...it reminded me of FF8 alot.

nidhogg3712d ago

Take that Square and your WRONG decisions!

Summons753712d ago

Yeah, with PsP phased out in NA having ZERO income and with Vita on life support and extremely low sales. It's clearly wrong of them to cut their losses and SAVE money by not localizing it because it WON'T be profitable.

Honestly they should just port it to the Ps3 then localize it.

Irishguy953712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

Well, when Type 0 came out is when they should have been porting it. I agree with you and nidhogg. Square made the wrong decision not to port it to PSP back then, like 3 years ago. But of course it's too late now. FF games did reasonably well on PSP in the west, let alone the fact that the others were spin offs. Type 0 would have sold more than any of them

At this point they should PS3 port.

The industry shifted to a big business first attitude

But all hope is not lost.
Nippon
Gust
Xseed
Etc all do just fine with their niche stuff

And even Namco Bandai does fine with their Jrpgs

Reasonable budgeting can go a long way

wolokowoh3712d ago

After FFXHD sells well on Vita as it already has been in Japan, Square will reconsider a port and localisation. Also the problem isn't it would not be profitable. It would be. Enough people would buy the localized version to be profitable on day one. The issue is how profitable will it be. If it doesn't make as much of a profit as they think an equal investment in another project will, then why wouldn't they use those resources on the other more profitable project.

It's always funny when the fans have to make up for a companies incompetence... Squenix should have put the dubbed version out ages ago. Great work guys! Looking forward to the release!

tiffac0083711d ago

Its hard to support franchises and games when the companies themselves won't let their fans do so. Smh

zerocrossing3710d ago

Exactly. You would think that given the huge divide caused by FF XIII, Squenix would want to release Type-0 in the west to help lure back those fans who the new games alienated.

Maybe it has something to do with the Vita's poor sales so far? That, or Squenix are morons... Probably both those things actually.

levian3711d ago

So, is this something we're going to have to run off emulator? Not ideal, but I'd gladly play this way. I'd absolutely love to play Type 0 (which I've never played or even seen much of) on my Vita, but I'll take what I can get!

Shadowsteal3712d ago

How would you get this on a PS Vita?

Chrono3712d ago

No legit way, must use CFW.

kingdom183712d ago

Watch now SE will end up porting it to the vita and localizing it.

How Final Fantasy’s First M-Rated Game Laid the Foundation for XVI’s Dark Tone

Final Fantasy XVI demonstrates how the franchise has matured since the release of its first M-rated installment, Final Fantasy Type-0.

90°

Type-0 Is The Darkest Final Fantasy Ever Made

DS: “I hate that Type-0 is forgotten among the Final Fantasy games. While not the strongest entry, its mature story makes it stand out from the others. And even though Final Fantasy now has three rated M games — including Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy XVI, — Type-0 will always have the crown of being the first, and arguably the darkest.”

i agree that it is indeed dark, but it has its issues.

and i feel like the ending is what makes it really a dark final fantasy game.

the rest is more or less war where teenagers fight.

This game was the epitome of the FF dark age pretty much, was hella boring and the gameplay was tedious. I'm glad SE got the series back on track

gold_drake330d ago

well, it was more of a spin off rly.
especially after they dropped the fabula nova crystalis stuff

H9330d ago

I actually really love this game, the main problem however was that the entire story and personality of the characters, was in the lore that you need to dig very deep to find and external materials outside of the game, honestly it has my favorite lore in the franchise, I wish they had made the game more story focused, god it would have been a masterpiece

The Best Final Fantasy Spin-Off Titles Ever Released

Xfire writes "The Final Fantasy franchise is nearly as old as the video game industry itself.

First released way back in 1987, what initially started as a hail mary title has since turned into a media franchise that has spawned more than a dozen mainline titles and been featured in other forms of media, making hundreds of millions of dollars along the way.

But while the mainline titles get all of the attention -- all eyes are currently on Final Fantasy 16 -- the franchise also has a handful of spin-off titles that are just as good as the mainline titles."

I enjoyed World of Final Fantasy and I love Crisis Core

SDuck1168d ago

Do you even know what a spinoff is?

FallenAngel19841168d ago

Do you? if you even have to ask that

FallenAngel19841167d ago (Edited 1167d ago )

@ cool

It’s more than just having characters. KH uses various gameplay mechanics, themes, terminology, & aesthetics from FF.

It just happens to be a spin-off that’s also a crossover, similar to fellow spin-off crossover titles such as Pokémon Conquest, Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle, & Warriors All Stars

coolfool1167d ago

Does including characters from a game make it a spin off? If so, is Smash Bros a spinoff of Metal Gear Solid? 😕

Nerdmaster1168d ago (Edited 1168d ago )

I would put Bravely Default as the best Final Fantasy spin off, even though it doesn't carry the Final Fantasy name (although the japanese version does have the subtitle Flying Fairy so it could carry the FF acronym).

About the games in the list, I like Dissidia 012 a lot, but my favorite is Theatrhythm. I still turn on my old 3DS from time to time to play a few songs.
I wish it had some remixed or orchestrated versions of the old songs, though. NES/SNES songs are nostalgic, but when played by an orchestra they're taken to another level. Strange that some people complained that Theatrhythm Dragon Quest did exactly that... I guess nostalgia does speak loudly.
