gamrReview's Zach Frimpong: "My advice to developers is to ensure that 60 frames per second is the goal with every game. Put resolution aside and focus on ensuring that your game runs buttery smooth and in a way that ensures reaction time is not hindered, because graphics age faster than gameplay. Games like Devil May Cry and even Ratchet and Clank strived for 60 frames on reasonably dated hardware, and to be honest, the gameplay in those titles feels a lot smoother and more enjoyable than some recently released titles."
Following the Wii U and 3DS servers being taken offline, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are officially dead.
Call of Duty players are jumping into Black Ops 2 for the final time before its Wii U servers go offline for good.
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 leap up due to summer sales
Wow, good games never get old I guess.
CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.
ofcourse both resolutions and frame rates matter, see Tomb Raider/Thief sales and in the future MGS sales
Edit : Whats with the bubble snatchers?
Frame rate is way more important.
Resolution and Frame rates are totally separate things. Of course frame rate is important, much more than resolution. You need a steady framerate, whether its 30 for cinematic game, or 60 for competitive or sports games.
Of course resolution to a certain degree is important, but up converting 720-900p to 1080p isn't nearly as important.
I really don't see how framerate would matter in a puzzle game. I mean, it'd be nice to have, but what would the advantage be?
Obviously, there are genres that benefit more from a higher framerate than others. But's it's not a necessity across the board, which means it's not important for every game.
A game's framerate should always be prioritized over it's resolution. Not only does a higher framerate make a game smoother and more responsive, but it reduces judder and moving images are noticeably less blurry.
60fps/720p > 30fps/1080p
