Stick of Truth Censored Scenes Removed From Discs To Avoid "'Hot Coffee' Situation", Says Producer

T1 - South Park: The Stick of Truth is one of our most anticipated games of the year, but it’s come in for a bit of pre-release..erm, stick..for censoring a few scenes in EU regions. An Associate Producer working on the game has taken to Reddit to explain the situation, and reveals that the content is removed from the disc in its entirety to avoid a "'Hot Coffee' situation"

Even though we can all watch the show on our TV's which has much worse content on it

I've seen Leanne get screwed a number of times

Paris Hilton being swallowed by Mr Slaves....you know

Mrs Garrison "scissoring" two people

Cartman grinding up Scotts parents into chilli then feeding it to him, not before trying to get a Donkey to bite his penis off.

The one where they were eating fetus

Mr Garrisons penis being grown on a mouse while it moves around town

Lamminwinks being shoved up Mr Slaves...again you know what.

A Blood Orgy

Oh and two Aliens sucking each others "jagons" and playing with their "thrushers"

I could go on...so stop bulls****** us Ubisoft, we are not sutpid. As for the Europe one I don't think they even tried, I don't see how it comes down to "marketing" when you're allowing it in NA and SA, not to mention still releasing the uncut version on PC. Seriously I just don't get it, they are contradicting themselves at times.

I love South Park and I want to support this but I'm sick of us over here being treat like crap with this sort of stuff. Ubisoft realised they would have to do work hard and spend more money separating Germany's version from the rest of Europe's, in the end they decided to leave it.

So please when you see "marketing" from them replace it with the word "money"

It's difficult for a game company to release products in Europe due to widely differentiating censorship laws. Yes, you can watch the show but video games are treated to a different standard than TV or film--for now.

They maybe allow the Europe PC version due to the fact the game will be distributed through Steam with no option for physical copy. Steam requires a bank account or credit card, I believe, two things minors have a tough time acquiring. However, because the console games can be purchased at retail for cash, they may have simply decided to censor to prevent any sort of issue.

This does feel less like marketing and more to do with Ubisoft feeling vulnerable releasing this game and trying to protect themselves from potential backlash.

That shouldn't matter though...whats the point of age ratings if stuff like this keeps on happening

This game is an 18 over here in the UK, if a child goes into the shop and buys a copy it's either the parents fault for letting him buy it or the guy behind the counter who didn't ask the child for ID

Don't see why people who are old enough should have to suffer. If this is the case they may aswell scrap the age ratings for the game since they seem to do nothing.

You have a great point. What is the point of age rating. If a game has mature content and they force devs to censor it, I kinda defeats the point. Ubisoft should of backed them up and said its either original or its just not going to launch in your country. The creators went out of their way and created like was they show and they gonna tell them to change it. That's bs. That's a smack in the face to the south park creators and to game devs in general. The basically saying no matter what your age if we Dont like the content we gonna make you change it

"Ubisoft realised they would have to do work hard and spend more money separating Germany's version from the rest of Europe's, in the end they decided to leave it."

Except they did spend that extra time and "money" to have a different version for Germany than the rest of Europe.

"German one is censored on console for anal probing etc as shown in this screenshot, and censored on both console and PC for swastikas, Heil Hitler arm salutes, etc."

Title of this article says UK and Europe will be censored. However it goes on to say in an update that the UK version wont be censored.

"All other countries, including the UK, will receive the uncensored version."

So we should be good in the UK :D

Let's not forget the Prophet Mohammed, and lovely un-PC lines like "I'm not just positive Kyle, I'm HIV positive"

Smashbro293715d ago

It's "I'm not just sure, I'm HIV positive"

Junior203715d ago

Unnecessary,South Park : Stick of Truth was rated 18(Europe)

AnotherProGamer3715d ago

There is still the mindset in many people that video games are for kids and we have to protect their little minds from mature things

ShaunCameron3715d ago

And once again Australians get shafted. Censored across the board.

Smashbro293715d ago

Get it on PC and mod the bits you want back in yourself.

We are going to see a lot of crap South Park products since they sold out to paramount years ago. It's their IP they can sell out, of course; it just means the quality of their show has tanked and other products as well. Nevertheless, they put on excellent musicals, but those haven't been sold to a mega corporation.

They said awhile ago that Ubisoft holds contract rights to the main flagship South Park games. So like stick, fractured and phone destroyer.

Snow Day was handled by THQ and Question and is a random spinoff. Hopefully Ubisoft is cooking something.

anast36d ago

That's one reason to be hopeful, but Ubi is trending down too.

Loved the RPGs but never played the others. Have to track them down. Still not sure about Snow Day though.

The 7 Best South Park Games

The South Park series has somehow managed to stay relevant for over 25 years, but which are the best games based on the TV show?

cammers1995142d ago (Edited 142d ago )

The only two worth playing are Stick of truth and fractured but whole. The rest were garbage except snow day which I can't say anything about yet. But with that said, unlike stick and fractured which debuted as AAA full priced titles by ubisoft, snow day is a new developer and publisher and has a budget price at only $30 soooo

I see Deadpool made the list. Also saw it in stock at the local game store. Second hand. Might finally pick up a copy.
