Seems like Sony is planning their big indie blowout around March.

Dead Nation (rumored to be free for PS Plus)
Awesomenauts Assemble (March 4)
TowerFall Ascension (March 11)
Stealth Inc. Ultimate Edition (confirmed March release)
SteamWorld Dig (confirmed March release)
Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut (confirmed March release)
Mercenary Kings (submitted to Sony in early February)

I sense a strategic purpose. Is it to show that they have some great games, or is it to take some wind out of Titanfall's sails?

Either way, March is gonna be a wallet-killer.

I think you're reading way too much into nothing. Of the games you listed, the only one I believe Sony is actually publishing is Dead Nation, which is also the only one that is nothing more than a rumor (and given these games change out next week... it's looking very unlikely, though still possible I guess).

Even then, Dead Nation / Awesomenauts / Stealth Inc. are already released on the PS3, SteamWorld Dig is on the 3DS/PC already, Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut is also releasing on the Xbox One and PC, TowerFall Ascension is also coming out on the PC, which makes Mercenary Kings the only real "stand out" title (as it's unique and not a multi platform release).

So, unless you think Sony tried to pool together whatever "indie" games (though does Dead Nation even count as an indie game?) they could scrap together and they did this to combat TItanfall (easily has more hype than all these games combined...), it's merely a coincidence and or bad choice of release on the developers part (as so many games are coming out).

mercenary king been on pc for the longest even tho its still in beta(which is F#k up theyre talking about ports and didnt finish up). but everything else i agree with you on. everything listed is on another platform. great games tho.

I don't think they are trying to fight Titanfall with indie games...They have Infamous: Second Son for that.

But yes, March is just insane overall, between indie and mainstream games for all platforms.

crusf3716d ago

Infamous will take out most of that "Wind" after the Titanfall hype slows down.

No1up3716d ago

You obviously never plaid the first two. I'll give you a run down, get to area, clear area, you power up. Search for a shattered spark thing throughout map, kill random useless bad guy on roof, and repeat. Big boss battle and walla your done.

Granted the 3rd one looks great and maybe they learned from the last two and fixed the monotony?

I swear to god, I log in here everyday telling myself I'm not gonna be a fanboy this time then I see comments like yours.

If you can say infamous is repetitive, titanfall must be a bore, every game must be a bore to you with that kind of rundown you gave of infamous.

@No1up

Lol at the thought of taking someone that actually just typed "walla" seriously.

It's voilà...

Do you even lift?

Awesome..lol

Seriously though, played this game for like 3-4 months on xbox 360 when it first released and it was a lot of fun.

I love the look of the game and also it plays a bit different to other MOBA's. It's less " MOBA-y" + it's 2D sprites which is awesome.

* Is it weird that this game I've already played is possibly in my top 5 most wanted to play PS4 games ?

* I think I'm waiting for E3 to pick up a PS4. We might get a new bundle or deal or something, but at least by then we will know more about games releasing for both PS4/Vita.

@Tom I'll be really happy when the big indies like Hotline Miami 2, Rime, Shadow of The Beast, Transistor, and Everybody's Gone into The Rapture start to come out.

Alexious3715d ago

Very interested in all of them except Hotline Miami (not my genre), it will be a while before they are released though.

Sweet since my b-day = March 9th :3

This is a great move by Sony

Indie games offer a certain gameplay experience that can't be found with your usual AAA title.

amnalehu3716d ago

This game is a lot of fun on PS3. I had it for a while before I really gave it a chance. Really looking forward to how it plays in the PS4.

TV has led me to hate the word awesome. It's used far too much. I drew the line when I saw my friends kid watching this show called "Rated A for Awesome."
