Video Gaming Then and Now in images. We’ve come really far

Vyralize: With the exponential growth in computing power, video games are no longer in 2D, in 16-bit or even black and white. Now we have graphic intensive games that consider thousands of variables to bring an experience that is closer and closer to reality. One can argue though that even with such a leap over the last 10-25 years, sometimes the simpler and older games still outclass today’s equivalents in terms of overall ‘fun’.

wow it is amazing seeing the differences. sadly though most of the older games have more replay value with the need for better visuals. how have game companies messed that up?

Being money hungry and wanting to add everything through DLC. That's the huge reason I love Nintendo products cuz they have not forgotten what makes games fun and worth while.

There are still plenty of games that provide both re-playability and decent graphics. For example dark souls, borderlands, Skyrim and XCOM.

This is true for the most part. Sure, you will always find exceptions to the rule but the thing about the more "retro" games on this list is that they innovated, surprised and felt a breath of fresh air...a lot of the newer games feel to be simply going through the motions, the shiny new HD graphics just used as a smoke-screen.
