I think it's funny that there's all this talk about the PS3 being fazed out or squeezed out a month before one of the biggest games on PS3 comes out. Err. . . You do realise why companies rely on 'independant' sales trackers right? It's so there is no conflict of interest. Like for instance using the NPD (3rd Party).That way a company such as MS or Sony cant just exagerate their sales, someone else who has no part in them is keeping tabs...

GFK is the german equivalent and can provide data for only a handful of countries.

Both are indeed respected tracking companies and are 'NPD equivalents'. Neither of them have made any up to date figures available.

Even if up to date figures were available from these two companies, they cover only half of the territory at best and there are no similarly respected numbers for the other countries not covered by the two noted above.

So you can't use just chart track figures and GFK figures to give you sell-through for Europe. Not only is the current data old, but it misses a large section of the territory under discussion, meaning that his figures (and remember he hasn't actually stated any) are also derived from sources he has not mentioned. I'm not saying they are wrong, but he hasn't stated his full sources.

As for the figures themselves, I don't know what I believe or even if I should care. The sales trends are pretty obvious for any impartial observer, and weather it was last month, or in a couple of months time, it seems pretty clear that Europe will have larger PS3 base soon if it hasn't already. Given the relative time lines of the machines, I can see why this would be seen as bad news for MS, but it still has significant presence and some of the big releases of this year may help bring that situation under control. I rather doubt it though, as the PS3 has so much momentum in this territory.

In the meantime, it's pretty obvious that MS needs little 'damage control' to make sure the Sony PR guys don't remain unchallenged and it perfectly acceptable for them to be disputing and spinning - you'd expect it of any company.

ps3 12.85 - 4 - 2 = 6.85 mil for europe + rest of asia + other regions

That 100+ million ps2 owners doesn't equate to 100+ individual owners, cumon now. This argument is almost pointless as all the people who purchased the 1st xbox have not converted yet even though they were forced to do so. The ps2 guys can wait because the support for their current console hasn't been dropped but they do exist. The 'perfect storm' was not enough and I brought it up last year because it paints a clearer picture than just looking at a month.

Obviously, somebody hasn't played Wario Ware Twisted. This game for the Gameboy Advance features both amazing motion control and rumble features. I think that Twisted was made to help test Wii functionality.

It's pretty obvious that the real reason rumble was taken out of the PS3 controller is due to the lawsuit Immersion filed against them. They didn't want to pay Immersion royalties or a settlement for their Dual Shock, so they won't have it at all. They're taking their ball and going home.

Sony justifies this by saying that the current generation started with the PS2, not the Dreamcast. I beg to differ. I have a lot of my Dreamcast games on other consoles now.
