10 Reasons to ditch your console and buy a PC

A lot of people were infuriated with our 10 reasons to buy a PS4, Xbox One and Wii U posts so we’ve decided to argue a case for the ‘Master Race’. We haven’t used the term ‘gaming PC’ in the title because this conjures up images of mis-sold, pre-built PCs from ebay which are overpriced and can’t get the job done. A lot of console gamers are unsure where to start when purchasing or building a PC but it could be a wise choice, here’s why.

OR keep your console and build a pc so you can have both! seriously though you should get a pc it's pretty awesome im telling you man if you don't have a pc you're missing out on some pretty cool stuff!

xPhearR3dx3719d ago

Agreed. I built a gaming PC a little over a year ago and it's probably the best gaming decision I've ever made. The mods, the graphics, the cheap games etc are simply amazing. I have my PS4 and PS3 for those console exclusives though. That, and I LOVE the DS4, so I use it for nearly every game on PC. So it feels like I'm playing PS4, just with better graphics and mods :D

thezeldadoth3719d ago

I use 360 controller for my pc games, but serious question. Is the xbox one controller/DS4 more comfortable? no fanboy response please

xPhearR3dx3719d ago

@Zelda

TBH, I've never touched an X1 controller. Before the DS4, the 360 controller was my personal favorite. Probably the best controller ever made, then the DS4 came along.

I mean, from the looks, I think I'd like the 360 controller over the X1, but then again, I have yet to hold it for myself to judge.

Thehyph3719d ago

I prefer the 360 to x1 controller, save the dpad.

As for the ds4, that thing is great. The only bad thing I'll say is that it chews through its battery pretty fast. Other than that, the build quality feels pretty solid, it has a nice heft and size to it, and I personally find the comfort very nice.

I would put both the 360 controller and the ds4 above the x1 controller. I can't definitively say which of the two is the best though. I like them both.

PeaSFor3719d ago

been an omni gamer all my life and dont see why i should change that, consoles and pc are complementary, limiting yourself to only one plateform would be a stupid thing to do as a gaming "enthusiast".

Braid3719d ago

I'll give you guys only ONE reason to keep your consoles and have fun with it: exclusives.

bjmartynhak3719d ago (Edited 3719d ago )

@thezeldadoth

For PC I guess a wired 360 controller is still the best. And I'm a Sony fanboy, or very close to it.

In terms of comfort, if I hold the DS4 in the most comfortably position in a general sense, my thumbs go too far from the sticks, which means that I have to bend them too much, being unable to use the sticks. So what I do is hold the controller with "half grip", so I basically put all the pressure with 3 fingers instead of the whole palm.

Shit... I can't even explain it in my language, let alone English... :p

starchild3719d ago

Yeah, that's what I have too. I've got my PC, PS4, PS3, 360 and PSP. And I'm open to other platforms in the future as well.

If you have the time and money it's definitely best to have multiple gaming systems. Personally, though, if I had to pick one I would choose the PC without hesitation. That's just my personal choice. I understand other people have different things they are looking for in a gaming system.

And not one disagree was given.

Why on earth would I "ditch" my console? lol
Keep them all.

Lior3719d ago

PC = your choice in budget, choice in graphics, resolutions, controls etc.

frostypants3719d ago

"OR keep your console and build a pc so you can have both!"

Done in one.

Umm.. Some valid points (the PC is a convinient investment), but I prefer having the best of both worlds. So, I'll keep both PC and consoles.

I_am_Batman3719d ago

Those are valid points for buying a PC but not for ditching your console (Only one that could count towards that is the online subscription).

LAWSON723719d ago (Edited 3719d ago )

I dont see the point of these kind of articles. Console gamers who are interested in PC gaming already have their reasons and that is because everybody is curious what gaming must be like on PC some draw false conclusions or deny the fact it offers so much, and others just know it is not for them. IMO nobody should ditch their consoles and instead buy all of them because as gamers I see no reason to not attempt to buy all the great systems over the next few years to play all the great games.

Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.

fsfsxii3d ago

Pc gamers will take this as an excuse to pirate things

KyRo3d ago

I'm not sure why you're getting disgrees. Whilst not all PC gamers are petty, an awful lot of them are lol

Crows903d ago

Entirely untrue. Not any more petty than console gamers. The only large difference is console gamers don't have much of a choice.

Michiel19893d ago

Not sure why you're getting agrees. an awful lot of console gamers are overemotional twinks ready to go to war over a plastic box, I'll take being a pc gamer then.

Speaking about overgeneralizing much.

"X" type of gamer conversations are cringe

qalpha3d ago

Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.

Inverno3d ago

Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?

DustMan3d ago

You can refund any game you've purchased as long as it hasn't been longer than two weeks, and you've played less than 2 hours. I wish they would change it to 3 hours because some RPG's have so much exposition that you may only get an hour total of complete gameplay. That's my only knock on it. I've refunded plenty of stuff I was just curious to try. I typically stay away from Early Access titles which are the only ones affected by this policy change.

Inverno3d ago

Apparently early access doesn't count, only complete games with a play early preorder bonus.

Gaming4Life19813d ago

I definitely know if I want a refund in 2 hours.

SegaSaturn6693d ago

I never liked refunding anything. Even if a film is bad, i dont want my money back. Sometimes things just aren't for me, and it's not the creator's fault necessarily.

Gaming4Life19812d ago

I feel you and i have never walked out on a bad movie cause I payed my money. I also don't refund games cause I'm a gamer and I know what to buy lol. I think having a digital refund is great.

Why Are Steam's Recommendations Dogpoop?

Blindfolding myself and clicking a Steam page at random would serve me better recommendations than Steam’s algorithm

UltimateOwnage21d ago

Hmm, not sure I agree with that. The recommendations I get are usually pretty good, but then again I have pretty large library of games on Steam and hundreds of them in my wish list, along with lots of curators I follow for it to build recommendations off of. On occasion it will throw me a random FIFA game or something I've never bought or shown interest in, but mostly its decent IMO.
