Sequel Showdown: Zone of the Enders vs. Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner

Hardcore Gamer: While Kojima and co. can’t seem to get their hands off Metal Gear Solid, we hope that this debate will encourage you to revisit, if not discover, this special series. Zone of the Enders 3 may be light years away from fruition, but these two games still have an important place in the current gaming landscape. Whether you hunt down the PlayStation 2 originals or pick up the convenient HD Collection, you’ll certainly find yourself experiencing two very polarizing games.

the story in part one was better, and so was the traveling

moujahed3722d ago

... The traveling became repetitive and the story was sentimental at best. 2nd runner had better gameplay, better graphics, better story, higher replay value and a versus mode. I can't believe you said that.

ZOE1 was good but ZOE2 was better in every aspect, it is the sequel that made the fans cry the most for more.

Konami owes us ZOE3.

Inception3722d ago

Damn, that's so f*kin sexy!!! Where the hell i can get that Jehuty figure with a cheap prize?!

And totally agreed with you: KONAMI OWE US ZOE 3!

moujahed3722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

@segamon

In due time. I use to get angry at Kojima focusing on everything but ZOE 3 but it is for the best. Let him get use to the open world concept, and the powerful hardware he has access to. So when it comes time for ZOE 3 we may even have intergalactic traveling, who knows how open it may be. I have faith that ZOE 3 will set the standard for mech games in the not so distant future.

ChaosKnight3723d ago

The Metal Gear Sold demo in 1 was better.

ChipChipperson3722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

The 2nd Runner by far. Don't get me wrong, ZOE 1 was great, especially since it was one of those games that came out early on in the PS2's life cycle and yes, of course, the MGS2 demo that came with it. It had... interesting mech concepts and designs(cock-pits) and the ability to travel to each Zone helping out any remainder survivors, especially flying over the whole colony. It really looked awesome. But, with the 2nd Runner, it was literally like going from 0 to 60. You felt the power and speed of Jehuty and its capabilities, especially with Anubis. Even better weapons like the Vector Cannon. The cel shading over the previous game, gave it a more unique look. Way more replayability by being able to choose different Jehuty frames. It was one of those games where it was such a massive improvement. And you gotta love Beyond the Bounds intro. This series is like Omega Boost(PS1 game similar to ZOE) on the PS2.

I just hope Kojima and Konami can get ZOE 3 going though after the bad news that came out last year regarding its development.

Ozmoses3722d ago

I still remember when I originally got ZOE for the MGS2 Demo and ZOE actually turned out to be a good game..

good ol' days. games/magazines had demos with them

Hicken3722d ago

Now why can't more of your comments be sensible like this, instead of that madman renting you did earlier?

In any case, think 2nd Runner wins this by a mile, with the possible exception of fighting Viola. That's gotta be my favorite battle of either game. Outside of that, though, I prefer ZOE 2.

Kaedro1327d ago

Dammit Agent_00_Revan!! Don't give them ideas you madman!! XD

CDbiggen1328d ago

Can someone just tell me this means nothing and that companies do this all time so that I can not have any hope. Thank you.

SamPao1328d ago

They do this all the time, it means nothing.

They have to take that step. What are they waiting for? It's now or never.

Juancho511327d ago

Man I really feel you on this. I think he should've made ZoE 3 a long time ago. The games were so GOOD!

Chocoburger1327d ago

They're likely just retaining the trademarks so no one can take it from them. Happens all the time.
Would be nice if we actually got a new game though, but that's wishful thinking expecting anything decent from KONAMI at this point.

JayRyu1328d ago

Please bring a new game to this series. I loved Second Runner!

TeamIcoFan1328d ago

No new game for you.
Only pachinko machines.

Juancho511327d ago

Orpheo1328d ago

Maybe we'll get, "Zone of the Enders: Survive..."

rainslacker1327d ago

I wouldn't mind a mech game but I'm hoping for a full on horror game from Kojima. I wanna see some insane monster designs

Fist4achin1537d ago

Yes, horror or Mecha would be welcome right about now!

ravinash1537d ago

A Mecha - Horror game....ohhhhhhhh

RaidenBlack1537d ago (Edited 1537d ago )

I really liked Kojima's original Metal Gear Solid Rising (not MGR:Revengeance) concept. He was not directly involved coz he was busy finishing Peace Walker but the end product didn't pan out. Since we'll be 2 generations ahead by this year, Kojima can try it out again.

Donnie811537d ago

I think he should do a fantasy rpg or something really off the wall
