Could South Park: The Stick of Truth be the Best Licensed Game Ever? | IGN Preview

IGN:

How happy does South Park: The Stick of Truth make me? Put it this way: I played it for two-and-a-half hours and didn’t even complete the first main story quest you’re given. Instead, I giddily wandered through the streets of the quirky Colorado mountain town as my custom-created “new kid,” talking to everyone I met, entering every house and building I could, and searching every nook and cranny for loot. And I didn’t even finish exploring. Not even close.

Sounds absolutely awesome. So glad they took their time, put the extra effort in, and hopefully this will be one of the very best games of this past generation... :)

I completely agree. The game's art style alone being identical to the show is just incredible. This game has quickly shot up to being a pre-order for me. Can't wait for March!

ive been counting the days of its release since they announced it , this game will be epic.

This game is basically the next South Park Movie, which is awesome.

It's been my favorite show since I saw the first episode back in 1996/97 so getting to play a game in which I get to actually be in South Park has been something I've wanted since the N64 days.

And yes this could be the best licensed game ever, because they aren't trying to rush it out in time for the "movie", it's all about making a quality South Park experience + it's an RPG which is awesome.

I'm hoping this turns some casuals into Turn based RPG fans.

There are two people at IGN I just don't like: Ryan McCaffrey (because of his undeniable bias towards MS) and Naomi Kyle (because of her goddamn vocal fry)

I'm not really into turn based combat (it is turn based right?), but GOD I want to love this game.

The art direction spot on. (You can't get much better than looking exactly like the show). And it looks to be just as funny. Matt and Trey are obviously passionate gamers, and have made sure this isnt just a licenced cash in, but a game for the fans.

So glad they didn't take the easy route and rush it out, but worked on it till they felt it was ready.

Mark my words. WINTER IS COMING !!

We are going to see a lot of crap South Park products since they sold out to paramount years ago. It's their IP they can sell out, of course; it just means the quality of their show has tanked and other products as well. Nevertheless, they put on excellent musicals, but those haven't been sold to a mega corporation.

They said awhile ago that Ubisoft holds contract rights to the main flagship South Park games. So like stick, fractured and phone destroyer.

Snow Day was handled by THQ and Question and is a random spinoff. Hopefully Ubisoft is cooking something.

That's one reason to be hopeful, but Ubi is trending down too.

Loved the RPGs but never played the others. Have to track them down. Still not sure about Snow Day though.

The 7 Best South Park Games

The South Park series has somehow managed to stay relevant for over 25 years, but which are the best games based on the TV show?

cammers1995151d ago (Edited 151d ago )

The only two worth playing are Stick of truth and fractured but whole. The rest were garbage except snow day which I can't say anything about yet. But with that said, unlike stick and fractured which debuted as AAA full priced titles by ubisoft, snow day is a new developer and publisher and has a budget price at only $30 soooo

I see Deadpool made the list. Also saw it in stock at the local game store. Second hand. Might finally pick up a copy.
