i got DmC for free on PS+ and man i regret even downloading that piece of trash.

Avengingkinght923737d ago

If you hated it from the start then why did you even bother downloading it in the first place. I swear butt hurt people like you give gamers a bad name.

Ratty3737d ago

How can you tell if you're going to hate it without playing it first?

MrSwankSinatra3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

You're the butthurt gamer crying about what the hell I do. Get over yourself crybaby

XisThatKid3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Prolly another butt-hurt Dante Man-crush fanboy.

Anyway, OF course they are still selling becaus what everyone thinks everyone else is thinking and worried about other peoples opinions than enjoying their damn games. They are both solid and enjoyable games. My only problem with DmC was 30fps THAT in my opinion should have been like its predecessors but didn't ruin it for me.

TheTwelve3737d ago

I didn't buy it either but I'm enjoying it via PS+

darren_poolies3737d ago

You kidding? DmC was one of the best games to come out last year. You may not have liked the direction they took with the reboot but it is nowhere near being a "piece of trash" or a terrible game.

InTheLab3737d ago

Of Ninja Theory's three games, it's probably the worst.

With that said, it's not a bad game, only one no one wanted.

godofboobees3737d ago

DMC is actually really good. Wtf are you talking about?

Highlife3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

No it's not,wtf are you talking about?

Fight fight fight fight

PaleMoonDeath3737d ago

Gameplay was incredible, the characters and plot.. unbelievably forgettable, played through the game just to kick some ass & grab a few trophies.

Devil18703736d ago

i bought it on steam when it was 75% off. i still regret buying it.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3737d ago

But...is RE6 selling? If it's predecessor is selling better, there's something wrong.

Timesplitter143737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Honestly, RE5 may have looked more like a next-gen Contra than a resident evil game, but I had a BLAST playing it in co-op.

And I thoroughly enjoyed the cheesiness of it : http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3737d ago

That scene was amazing. I've never seen someone with a punch stronger than a shove.

DEATHxTHExKIDx3737d ago

sad to see DmC didnt do better.

KonsoruMasuta3737d ago

I'm glad to see that the sales were trash. There was no need for a reboot that completely ruined an established character.

DragonKnight3737d ago

You're sad to see a terrible game was received as a terrible game should be?

MadLad3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Many old school fans hated it. The general public saw it for the solid title that it was.

http://www.metacritic.com/g...

@DragonKnight

And if you check those reviews, the vast majority are said outspoken fans of the original series giving the game between a '0' and a '3' because they didn't like the new take on the brand or what they did in terms of the mechanics. Let's please not treat the user review section of Metacritic as anything more than the outspoken internet idiot platform that it is almost purely used for.
Believe it or not, I trust the opinion of all major review sites involved over the vitriol laden rantings of 'fatal_slash' and 'kennedyballyhoo'.

DragonKnight3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

User score 4.9 and terrible sales tend to debunk your "The general public saw it for the good game that it was" statement.

@above edit: How do you know the vast majority are said outspoken fans? You have no way of proving that. And you blindly trust random review sites that are paid via advertisement dollars instead of actual people?

Disregarding all of that, the sales numbers don't lie. The general public didn't buy the game. Why? Because it's terrible and they knew it, so your point is still debunked.

How many of the older Devil May Cry games could you do this with?

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

darren_poolies3737d ago

@DragonKnight

Yeah because metacritic user scores are a great indicator of what the general public think about games. /s

MadLad3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

@DragonKnight

I know because they state as much in how they compare the game to the originals. That and some simply state so. Not to mention a lot sure seem to be written from a place of bias.
And I never said I blindly trust review sites. I said I still trust their opinion over the drudge that is the metacritic comment section. Also, to claim that I can't trust gaming sites is to say that every review should be expected to be paid for. I guess that is a great way to look at things when you are trying to make a point and need something to back it. With that, I certainly trust sites like Giant Bomb, whose formation literally goes back to the creator being unwilling to write a paid review and being fired from Gamespot because of it.
I'm done arguing non-points though. It's a waste of time.
As for the video, sorry, but finding an exploit in what is essentially still the tutorial, in a very much constricted space in comparison to the majority of the game does not a terrible game make.

DragonKnight3737d ago

For the last time, disregarding the reviews since you don't want to include the ones that prove you wrong, the game's sales tanked. Why is that? Because the game sucks and the majority public that you're so fond of speaking for proved it by not supporting a terrible game.

Fin.

MadLad3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Actually, DragonKnight, the series has always been driven on the previous players themselves. When the oldschool fans didn't appreciate the game, no one did . . . outside of every professional reviewer who reviewed the game, it seems. Nice to see you think so highly of yourself that all of them are wrong and you are right though.
If I am avoiding the reviews that prove me wrong, you are avoiding the ones that prove me right. Then again, I am not hopping on the backs of others to prove me right, as you are. I am just using them as reassurance. If a highly rated game on Metacritic doesn't do well, that's not the fault of the game, despite your lofty attempts at making it seem so. Great games often go unrewarded, but that doesn't make them bad games. You can take your straw man arguments elsewhere, if you wish. They aren't sufficient either way.
Being that that is my last bubble, that is obviously my last public statement on the matter. You can continue to post easily disputed non-sense that I would easily shoot down otherwise.

^ Yea lemme tell you how terrible the gameplay above is. Yes, let's hate the only hack and slash game of 2013 that had tons of color in EVERY level, wasn't afraid to say NO to quick time events, with the most freedom and skill required to create cool looking combos, yea **** that game, let's stick with the ones that have brown colors, quick time events, and more cutscenes and set pieces than typical gameplay while also having less content.

dredgewalker3737d ago

Being sad at a terrible game selling terribly sounds terrible to me.

darren_poolies3737d ago

The game wasn't even close to being terrible.

Ultimax3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

You can only predict one thing from comments like this = Xbot

That's the only and only reason for a person who never lived the PS2 experience in the old days and wish for a complete trash game to sell better than the original one's How the F could anyone prefer the new "Donte" over the original one , The reason why you can find salty assholes down vote comments that despise this game are the reason why Capcom will never evolve "FOR BETTER"
Desperate much ?

Lord_Sloth3737d ago

I am forever proud to be a member of the DMC1-4 fanbase for sticking to their guns when they said they wouldn't support it.

PaleMoonDeath3737d ago

Great gameplay, terrible everything else, totally worth the free download, not something I'd shed £40 on when it came out.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC16d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos16d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga16d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer17d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey60217d ago (Edited 17d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya16d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde16d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP16d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

5 Years Later, Devil May Cry 5 Still Quenches My Hack-And-Slash Thirst Like No Other

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Devil May Cry 5, the latest iteration in the iconic DMC franchise by Capcom, still holds its own as a fantastic hack-and-slash in 2024."

Resident Evil 5 - 15 Years of Being the Most Misunderstood Resident Evil

Resident Evil 5 launched 15 years ago today - and it continues to stand as a stepping stone from the good to the bad.

TheBrainZ61d ago

One of my favourites because of the co-op. Then Resi 6 arrived and the series nosedived further.

Knightofelemia61d ago

I enjoyed the game co-oping with a friend I know the game in solo the AI can be an idiot but RE5 is way better then RE6. I played RE6 with a friend if it wasn't cheap when I got I would have avoided RE6.

thesoftware73061d ago (Edited 61d ago )

5 was excellent, still play Mercs with my brother.
I would love a fully remastered RE:5, with some added, reworked content. The DLC for 5 was also excellent.

6 was awful.

CrimsonWing6961d ago

I never understood why the game was misunderstood. It was a fantastic game at launch and is still fun today to play. It’s as action packed as Resident Evil 4 was, yet that’s regarded a masterpiece 🤷‍♂️

chobit_A5HL3Y61d ago

it was "misunderstood" because they introduced co-op into the franchise at a time when people loved to have fake rage about co-op. like, you could play the game as a solo experience, but people chose to have their bandwagon rage because it was cool at the time lol

-Foxtrot60d ago (Edited 60d ago )

What the hell are you talking about? Fake Rage? Bandwagon? Come on.

You can play it solo but you are forced to carry around a shitty AI partner you have to micro manage. It wasn't as fun solo.

Co-op sucked all the horror, tension and suspense from the game because having a partner covering you was like a safety net. Enemy trying to sneak up on you? No sweat the AI will just automatically lock on, alert you while they shoot first telling you where they are basically.

It was the start of Capcoms fall with the Resident Evil series where it basically become an over the top generic action game which betrayed it's own survival horror roots. Least RE4 had a good blend of both but Capcom just went the wrong way with RE5, especially going off what they were going to do during the RE4.5 beta phase before co-op was added.

franwex60d ago

At least the game was a ton of fun tho. If the game was bad, the outrage would’ve been justified. They simply pivoted for a couple of games. At this point it’s bad because it’s called Resident evil 5? But if was called something else it would’ve been good? Please.

chobit_A5HL3Y59d ago

like i said: fake baby rage and bandwagon hate. res4 wasn't really that scary, either, and was already taking the series into more of an action-oriented direction at the time. 5 was a good game that people fake-hated because of co-op that you didn't even have to play lol hence the fake rage and bandwagon hate. i mean, it obviously did well enough for capcom to go ahead and make 6 the way they did, right? if 5 was so bad, they would have changed what 6 was during development. the difference is that 6 was actually just bad.

people "hate" 5 because res4 was so good, and 5 was just unfortunate enough to be its successor. like i said, 4 wasn't scary, either, and relied more on tension than horror, but it was already more of an action game. if you don't wanna like 5 because it's not scary or whatever- that's fine, but it wasn't meant to be strictly a horror game anymore at that point anyways. the gameplay was a lot faster-paced than 4, so saying that the ai helping you by potentially shooting someone that was sneaking up behind you is a moot point. there were more enemies that were more aggressive, along with newer threats.

5 isn't as good as 4, but it's not a bad game by any stretch.

Tody_ZA35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

What? I always thought RE5 had fake controversy because it was set in South Africa and you shot a bunch of black zombies. I live in South Africa and thought the game was absolutely awesome, played the whole thing co-op with my brother.

@Foxtrot I think you're confusing the garbage Dead Space 3 with Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil 4 was already a hyper action game and had zero fear factor other than the grotesque appearance of some enemies.
