No unicorns came out of my ass for Gears 2, says Bleszinski

Speaking at the Microsoft Gamer's Day yesterday, Gears of War 2 dev lead Cliff Bleszinski has confirmed that Gears of War 2 will not feature unicorns coming out of his ass.

"A lot of gamers were somehow expecting Gears 2 to suddenly come out and have big bright purple flowers and rainbows and unicorns coming out of my ass or something like that," he said. "It's just not that game. It's not a very saturated colour palette, but we are going for large, beautiful open vistas this time around, much larger scale of battle - so it's not just grey pillars, right?"

He added: "There might be other projects coming out of Epic in which I may have a torrent of unicorn leakage from my ass. The horn's the hardest part, really."

Really though, its sad how many 360 owners complain that graphics aren't "colorful" enough for them. They've obviously been playing too much Halo, who's color scheme is a joke.

But maybe they'll make a Gears tie in w/ Viva Pinata, that should satisfy you guys.

360 owners? On this site PS3 fans are the ones who complain about 360 games =) They are never satisfied but I'm sure the people over at Microsoft are working hard to please them.

Gears of War 1 had various color settings of which one was 'vibrant' and made it look very colorful, so I doubt anyone who actually played the game was complaining about it.

What he meant, is that he was not as impressed as everyone else was. He saw nothing groundbreaking or special in that video, that hes been told by tons of people is the best thing they've ever seen.

I kind of agree, it doesn't look like its going to break any barriers in terms of graphics this time around like it did with the first.

thats not what he means at all, why would the lead Dev for Gears of War 2 say that the video of his game wasn't good, I think he means that they aren't going with a rainbow type colour pallet in the game, you know all teletubby like.

That there are idiots out there that complain that this game is not looking colorful enough. Look, if you want to play colorful and silly alien talk then hit up some Halo but if you want gritty war torn looks and fewer colors to clash with the red blood of locust giblets then play Gears. It's all in what you like and if you can't appreciate the color pallet of any given game then just don't play it. I swear it seems some people get offended when the game doesn't look like something right out of a Rainbow Bright episode.

Just because a game doesn't experience every color of the rainbow doesn't mean it can't be a beautiful or great looking game. I liked the graphics in Gears of War, it made me feel like I was actually in a war zone. The graphics really provided an appropriate atmosphere.

To heck with those who say either one of these games is to "black and white". I say that both games have a great, gritty war like color palette and both look cool to me. If every game looked like Halo then there would be people complaining about there being too little variety. Here is variety and it is good.

war games doesn't need to look colorful, the "complains" about KZ2 looking gray is the same ones about GeoW2 looking gray too, but it's a war environment, it have to look sad and sterile, that's why is dumb someone complain about a war game looks gray.

Not sure about Gears2, but in KZ2 there may be plenty of blue sky by the end of the game (and online).

Cliffy sounds pretty confident there, this should deliver by the sounds of his enthusiasm.The better optimized unreal engine looks like it's allowing more of what they probably wanted first time round - what with the time constraints as well.This Gears could be something extra special

Like I've always said who the f^k expects flowers to be blooming in a War Torn Environment or even Post Apocalypse Games? Especially if it's set in the middle of broken down, crumbling cities.

Quite Apparent KZ2 was criticized for it's color palette because of the Sh^t some of them fans gave Gears Originally.

Something I've never understood for the types of games these games are.

YES then there is HALO 3 a SCI-FI game having too much color, but I won't go there.

Dnt worry friend,my french sucks. Bt,Im actually impressed by GeOW2. i just want much much larger levels. Not white/grey pillars and recycled doors over and over. I just yesterday started a new game of Gears,its a good break from GTA, but it still rocks ! The graphics hold up,but the levels seem alot smaller than it did a few months ago.but I must admit,gameplay has always been the gem of GeOW.and it will be in GeOW2.,just make much much bigger levels and it'l be great.please dont promise huge huge huge areas,like Halo3 ,love it,but alng the way they promised levels would sumtimes be up to 30km in distance,when reality is, it was UP to 30km,and u couldnt travel through 90% of it. Cnt wait for this game.

its funny, how many people jumped all over LAIR for having the colors it had, and now some people here are just fine with GEARS 2 not being so vibrant with colors. films and games are sometimes purposely done this way to add to the games feel, obviously you cant have colorful sh!t in a games like GEARS of it would be a distraction. either way i cant wait for november :)
