Internal Team for Killer Instinct Still at Microsoft Says, Phil Spencer

It seems that Microsoft has planned ahead for the acquisition of developer Double Helix by Amazon.

Neoninja3757d ago (Edited 3757d ago )

Glad Phil responded to things quickly! From him saying they had a "plan" for this, it makes me think Microsoft already knew Amazon was going to acquire Double Helix.

Great news!!! Killer Instinct was a pleasant surprise, I look forward to season 2.

nigelp5203757d ago

Why not give it back to Rare? After season 2 release it on a disc also. I want fnishers, storries, cg movies, team battle modes, etc

christocolus3757d ago

Why? Rare guys are already part of the team.

REDBEARD3757d ago

I agree. Its RARE's game. Despite the company is now a shell of their former selves, it is still their IP. At least give the company credit when I start playing the game, Microsoft. Jeez!

mhunterjr3757d ago

Rare is only 'Rare' in name. Most of the folks who delivered classic games are gone. It really doesn't matter who develops it, as long as the game is good.

That said, the MS internal team is comprised of folks from the original KI and folks with tons of fighter experience. All will be ok, Some of the things you've mentioned are already planned.

REDBEARD3757d ago

In a spiritual sense, its still their IP. It makes me sad that a great company like RARE are forced to make kinect games and not their own IPs. Microsoft could bring those guys back to RARE, and return their former glory. Of course, not everybody would come back because they just flat out hate MS for obvious reasons.

armogangsta3757d ago

Heh. I had a feeling that it might go to PS4 and there it is being shut down. *sad face*

theWB273757d ago

Rare owns the IP...Micro owns Rare. It's not going anywhere for awhile.

armogangsta3757d ago

Seems like it. Damn. I don't wanna buy a console for one game. I've been a huge Killer Instinct fan ever since I was a kid.

BigShotSmoov0073757d ago

I'm glad to hear KI will still be supported, I"m loving the game and looking forward to hopefully more characters and improvements.

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH179d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
