Rumor: Killzone 2 Levels Are To Take 50 Minutes

Unknown NeoGaf Member: saw Playr this morning too. It's basically the new version of Gamer TV. Made by the same people with the same format but with a different, less nasally, presenter. Airs in the UK on Bravo at the weekend (a satellite/cable channel).

Well I hope this game is atleast 12 hours long on normal difficulty settings. The action looks really intense. Just imagine, all this intense action spanning across 12-15 hours of gameplay. :D

Well this isn't really news. 45/50 mins is irrelevant without knowing how many levels will be in the game. I hope they also go for a more story oriented shooter. I want a really nice story in it. If the game is only 8hrs long i wouldn't mind as long as the story is very well done. Plus there is always multiplayer to get into.

With all the COD4 copying i hope they have some original stuff left to show. And whats the deal on the beta

The running imo is straight out of COD4 and i didn't play the first KZ because i heard it was crap.

Personally i'm not a big fan of COD4. Once again my comparisons aren't based on visuals. Imo the shooting is just highly reminiscent of COD4. Cover based shooting is original but in almost 90% of the vids, no one is doing this. They need to increase the difficulty to make it more tactical and force more ppl to take cover.

My point basically is i expect a little bit more sci fi form a sci fi game and i am hoping for more original weapons and gameplay. Shooter market is quite crowded and from what i can tell minus the lean and peak gameplay, it plays exactly like COD4. Whether or not they copied isn't my problem all i know is most of the stuff in this game you can do in COD4.

But with all the hi-def things, I'm thinking it'd be around 13-16 levels. I thought Crysis was fairly decent in its length of gameplay. KZ2 should be, if not longer, around the length of Crysis.

Im just throwing this out there, if KZ2 uses all 50GB, then that would amount to rougly 25 levels since I see someone saying each level is suppose to be 2GB so 2x25=50GB and 25 levels x 45/50 min is a little over 1100min whic give or take is 18-20+hrs.

there is no problem to use the same maps for multiplayer by simply blocking the area by "rumble" or other artificial code blocks. Still the gamecode and the music has to be somewhere so i wouldn't expect more than 40GB for the levels at max.

That's really not surprising to hear because in the first Killzone game, every Level would take you at least an 40 minutes to 1 hour to complete and every level is broken down into different parts.

The first Killzone game had 11 levels, so if every level takes around 45 min- 50 min to complete in Killzone 2 and if they are aiming for about the same amount of levels, it will be at least a 11-12 hour game, and that's pretty long for a First Person Shooter.

The first Killzone game had a good story, and I already know that Killzone 2 will be even better. Ha ha! Oh man, Killzone 2 just looks so awesome. There isn't any game that's been released that has the visuals that Killzone 2 has, not even Call of Duty 4 has the visuals that matches Killzone 2 and the final Killzone 2 version hasn't even been released.

Sony did the right thing by delaying Killzone 2 because there doesn't need to be 2 high calibur shooters on the PS3 (Resistance 2 and Killzone 2) within a few months of each other this Fall. Killzone 2 will blow us all away and has already blow little ol' Halo 3 away in the DUST.

Call of Duty 4, Gears of War 2, and Halo 3, REST... IN.... PEACE.

Killzone 2 really be one of the best games of early 09 for sure. If the gameplay can keep up with the graphics then we are all in for a really good treat. Will it beat Resistance 2? I highly doubt it because the first Resistance proved it was worthy of being one of the best shooters on the PS3 thus far. The orginal killzone was good on its own right but after playing Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 in the same year, it did not compare on any level.

Will Killzone 2 be able to hold up to Gears, COD4, and Halo 3? Maybe. But don't get lost in the hype of the "halo killer" again!

Delaying killzone 2 was one of the worst thing's sony could have done this gen. It was an amazing looking game at launch. It was a pretty great looking game when Bioshock came out. It's going to be a pretty good looking game next year.

I've said it once, and I will say it again. Delays are going to kill killzone 2 in the long run. If it released last fall, killzone 2 would probably be the only game people played online until now, or even MGS4. And then still, it would be one of the only fps's till xmas, so people would still come back to it.

That is a huge wasted opportunity.

See I remember the problem in the first game was that I kept on playing and playing but the game kept on going and going. Its not bad having a long game but it falls into the trap of being monotnous which is what made it boring. Also you never got to participate in any big battles just you and your squad running around mowing down Helghast.

If in Killzone 2 they have some variety like a vehicle driving level or a sniping level I could see it really helping out the campaing and I hope they dont have too many levels where you go it alone or just with one other guy. Having co-op in the game would be cool too. It makes sense if they do cause the feature to revive fellow soldiers already in place.

The first KZ had well into 10 to 12 hours worth of gameplay. I am looking forward to hitting up another 12 hours in KZ2 when it hits store shelves. I am glad they delayed it too, It would be a shame to have such heavy hitters all vying for GOTY when in fact they can delay a couple to compete for next year.

A minimum of 10 hours SP gameplay would be respectable. The rest of gameplay coming from online MP & Coop.

But I wish some developer would find a way to make shooters more sandbox than the traditional linear.

The obvious way to do this is make the level map large, allowing multiple avenues to get to achieve the objective and of course, allow the use of vehicles. Mercenaries has this down to a tee.

C'mon GG. Learn for that great game and bring in sandbox or a combination of sandbox & linear.

Looking forward to this game but I'm gonna doubt them on the 50 minutes for each level. People who play FPS's every now and then or alot of the time will do it in a shorter amount of time. Anyways, Feb 2009 is ages away.

For one, its a good marketing strategy. Most people that have a ps3 havent played Killzone 1, but most have played Resistance and loved that game. So even though KZ2 is the better game, most people would buy RFOM2, therefore drawfing whatever sales KZ2 could have possibly earned.

I think that Resistance 1 sorta sucked. So I honestly dont even care about part 2, but everything works out in the end cause KZ2 not only has more time to add new features and put even more polish to the game, but it also comes out on my bday, which to me seems like its fate. KZ2, the best FPS ever created!

SHORTNESS seems to being an ongoing trend with ps3 games. Lair, uncharted, Heavenly sword, and even MGS4 now, all games being under 8 hours. LAME, and your LAME for supporting them.

Just hope you can choose what sublevel you want to play in each one if they kept the level system from Killzone 1 (4 sublevels pr level). That way, it seems like they have more levels too ;)

I don`t care how many levels they`ll end up having though. Quality over quantity any day.

If the multiplayer`s a blast, it can provide a longer life for the game, even though i`m hoping for a great story driven singleplayer campaign from Killzone 2, short or not, it dosn`t matter as long as it`s good ;)

if I remember correctly there's only about 3 million people on PSN. ( last heard that a while ago.. I think )

so a decent length campaign is actually quite necessary. I don't want this to be another COD4 with it's riciulously short campaign. I think I speak for a lot of other people aswell when I say that a decent length campaign with a good online would make it even more successful than a short campaign with good online. COD4 may aswell had just be online only.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of online play, but I think that it's sometimes prioritised too much over campaigns. I love fighting AI. Sometimes people just P me off.. like camping snipers or people who go explosive mad and TEAM KILLING *angry face*
