differentely in west so people could understand him better but what he really meant is that, the american jounalist interpret what he said last time as if he was saying mgs4 sucks and thats not what he was saying at all. so another words, in order for americans to understand that hes proud of his game, he has to be arrogant about it. something he doesnt have to be in japenese culture because they undertand him.

you are an example of someone interpretating something somebody else says wrong. you need to really read deep into what somebodys saying because other wise, you'll be lost again

You need to learn the difference between bragging and pride. There is nothing wrong with taken pride in your hard work and not having that hard work and information you share possibly misinterpreted.

I myself am not a big fan of MGS or Hideo Kojima's efforts but I am a fan of Japanese work ethics.

How can you honestly differentiate between, bragging and pride. With a lot of developers they will simply brag about there game for the media to hype. Of course there is nothing wrong with developers taking pride in there work, because it takes a great deal of effort, but just accept the fact that different cultures having different ways of displaying this pride. Hideo knows that he doesn't have to glorify this game, because as soon as someone plays it, they will appreciate it for what it is. Japanese seem to be very modest people who portray there accomplishments with results and are always seeking improvement.

I'm working on cut off version of MGS on the 360 at EB but although its will take unto 7-10 dvd9 disc to run the demo, however there is always hope for the 360 owners, no wonder they're so desperate for MGS, it's like they gasping for air as it's they can't breathe

Out of so many developers out there one of the only people who never really seems to disappoint me is Hideo Kojima, I have been a Metal Gear fan for longer than I can remember and each entry in the series has only gotten better.

There are so many developers out there who liked to brag about their games but have no real ways to back it up, they talk about how their games will revolutionize this, or destroy that, and then when the game hits you have stop and wonder if they were on some serious drugs when they made those statements.

Kojima has been at the head of Videogame Innovation for a very long time and I say if the man has pride in his work and wants to brag than let him, at the very least he has earned it with his proven skill in his field.

edit: vvvv well, hotshot I'm not a big Banjo fan myself but I'm sure some would disagree with you dismissing it, as I'm sure some would disagree with me dismissing R&C's appeal to only sony folks, they both have their fans. As far as ps3's lineup goes with K2 pushed to 2009, I think 360 lineup is pretty damm good, but hell I thought that even before K2 was delayed, again.

For the lineups, that comes down to personal taste, although i think most will say PS3 seems to have the best lineup this year.

I am a HUGE action adventure platform fan. I own both consoles and I purchase games based on games and not the system they are on. I played Banjo on the N64 and it did nothing for me. I barely have any interest in it for the 360 but I am keeping an eye on it just incase. Then again why get into it when it might be years before we see a sequel?

I am still waiting on a sequel to Kameo. A game I actually enjoyed. Rare isn't what they use to be. It's kind of hard to get into what they work on anymore.

Ninja gaiden is a hack and slash game. I don't purchase hack and slash games I rent them. I rented DMC4, Heavenly Sword and Ninja Sigma. I will do the same with NG2. It's not a system mover. Doubt it will be a big seller. So why bring it up?

The only major release you mentioned worth bringing up is Gears 2. Lets just hope it isn't a glitch ridden mess like the original.

Actually, I suggest you all take a dive into learning the language to understand what he means. Literally, Japan has formal and informal ways of saying something. English converts a lot of things into one. English is definitely the harder language to learn, don't forget that. But being born with English speaking people around, sure we learn it easy. Now trying to translate anything is harder to do than you think.

Articles like this remind me of why its better to not "try" translating what someone else says to prevent misconceptions and possible slander.

A lot of "fanboys" these days take their systems way too far and guys like Kojima get hit hard with bad publicity and garbage like this happends; if we don't ever see any future titles in the US thank the morons who took 10 minutes to rub his name in the ground in a negative way. I was always a fan of his games and I'll stick by what he says, and yes I'm an American as well.

Fanboys yield..........I want to talk to some people with sense. For the budget of MGS4, if the sales don't live up to expectations of Konami, there will be a great disturbance in the force and not only will this game port over to the "darkside" but whatever way the Metal Gear series go after this one, they will go the route GTAIV went and from now on release day and date with other consoles. Now, of course there are the fanboys who will rebuke me for saying these things, but then I remember that I'm an amateur film producer who makes several hundreds of thousands of dollars a year taking photographs and making videos of beautiful, nude, college teens, as well as luck up with quite a few of them and have the best sex with these most beautiful girls and I ask myself, "self, do you give a sh*t what someone thinks about my comments about a video game on N4G.com?" and then when I come to my senses, I look at the replies and laugh.......ha, ha ha, HA!

BUT to use Kojima, and by proxy japanese culture, as some sort of holier-than-thou magical land of happiness is being ignorant.

Kojima is not the definitive representation of an entire culture. stop basing everything on anime and videogames.

and yes i've been to japan. it's a very very nice country. i still met jackasses over there. being a jackass crosses over cultural lines.
