SteamFirst: Most of us Steamers remember the fun days of trading card games: Buying packs of cards for a few bucks each, the crisp sound of unwrapping your new cards, skillfully combining cards into custom decks that you plan to rub in the face of your friends during lunch… all of which took a back seat when we found out we could smack talk each other on Xbox. But now, the trading card genre has seen new life in the online gaming industry with games like Duel of Champions, Hearthstone, BattleForge and the king of tcg; Magic.
Hearthstone is a great collectible card game, but it isn't for everyone. Plenty of similar games are available if you're looking for something familiar yet different.

Don't sleep on Earthcore. This is a fantastic game as well. Ditto with SolForge. Both of these are worthy rivals to Hearthstone. Different, smaller in scope, but still great card games.
Hearthstone is my shiz, but Magic the gathering with fully customizable decks is tough to beat. I stopped buying the planeswalker games because of the lack of building a from scratch deck.
