Damn hopefully Strider can "Stride" to our expections

Chuk53750d ago

It's painfully how much your tried to stretch this pun.

moujahed3750d ago

Damn XiSasuke you stay taking L's. Can't wait for this game tho

Agent_hitman3750d ago

Simple action game, side-scrolling with simple mechanics and details.. This game could also run on last gen machines..

Death3750d ago (Edited 3750d ago )

Bad attitude to have if you want to see either console do well. Software is needed to push hardware. Developers need to sell games in order to create new ones. If everyone passes on a game because it's "not next gen enough", we won't see many next gen games.

The game is releasing on all platforms. The next gen versions do have graphic updates. It may not be true next gen, but it's enough incentive to buy the Xbox One or PS4 version over the 360 and PS3 versions if you own both consoles.

mediate-this3750d ago

People can pass any game they want for any reason they want to.

Death3750d ago

Yes, they can. If you pass on enough of them for all the wrong reasons and tell others to do the same, it's probably less helpful then you think. Big difference between constructive critisism and passing along misinformation. Agent's statement is ironic since the game is also being released on last gen machines. He put no effort into understanding the features and benefits of the game on next gen consoles and instead is telling people it's not worth buying. I don't care which side of the console war anyone has picked, you need to buy software if you want your team to "win". If this game isn't for you, it's probably ill advised to tell others to pass for no reason.

So this is supposed to be good news? Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) is low precision and doesn't add much graphically. I'd be impressed if they actually used HDAO (high definition ambient occulsion) because the gains in image quality are much more pronounced. Unfortunately these next-gen consoles don't have the processing power to use HDAO...

Here are the differences...

Those pics aren't a very good example in my opinion, i dunno if it's just the game but i can only really see the difference on the concrete posts and under the chair. While HDAO is obviously the preferred option, the difference isnt large enough to warrant the extra hit in performance on consoles. I'd much rather have devs use SSAO on consoles, so then at least we have SOME kind of AO and it doesn't take as big a chunk of performance.

"So this is supposed to be good news?"

For console gamers who haven't had any kind of AO for years, yes.

fossilfern3750d ago

I dont really like Ambient Occlusion its almost like painting fake shadows onto things, I normally turn it off just to get the extra frames.

GarrusVakarian3750d ago (Edited 3750d ago )

@fossil

I like it personally, without it things just seem to look artificial and not really in the game world....if you know what i mean. AO just adds a little realism and the shadows make it look like objects have some depth and dimension to them.

The image on the right is much better in my opinion, his face is dark in all the right places (around his eyes , side of face and under chin). Just helps to make his face look more realistic and without AO it just looks like his face has been copy+ pasted into the helmet lol.

Melankolis3750d ago (Edited 3750d ago )

Ugh...i can't tell the differences, even if they're marked...

Skate-AK3749d ago (Edited 3749d ago )

It's called HBAO. Not HDAO. Need for Speed Rivals uses it on PS4 while Xbone is SSAO.

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.

LoveSpuds553d ago (Edited 553d ago )

I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.

I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.

Inverno552d ago

Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.

Yui_Suzumiya552d ago

Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.

Ahh the memories of playing Heavenly Sword
Such a amazing experience

LoveSpuds552d ago

Yup, I remember being blown away with Heavenly Sword. I remember holding out hope that they would go back and add trophy support as a incentive to go back and replay the game, but I don't think they ever did?

Yui_Suzumiya552d ago

I couldn't beat the final boss though! Spent several days trying but eventually gave up, lol. Still enjoyed it though.

refocusedman552d ago

heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.

YoungKingDoran552d ago

I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.

Love the newest Strider! Definitely underrated.

Love these lists as i now want to check out Momodora (on PS extra) and Ender Lillies.

INMATEofARKHAM581d ago

It's a very solid list and the best part is that I think all of them are on other platforms so more people can play them.
