AR - Overlive casts the player as one of the few survivors of an almost total zombie apocalypse. Hiding out in a ruined apartment Overlive is all about striking out randomly, finding better weapons and supplies and ultimately finding a way out of the ruined city, while maybe discovering what’s really happening on the way.

I'm not big on phone games, but Lone Wolf and Atom RPG are great games and work well on a phone.
That said, it blows my mind they didn't include at least one Dragon Quest/Warrior or Final Fantasy game.
They have a great port for FF Tactics: War of the Lions damn it. Show it some love.
GameZebo - Overlive is a promising mix of things. On one hand the game is a tap-and-shoot zombie shooter, and on the other hand it's a choice-driven narrative full of decision making. Unfortunately, neither one of these elements stands out memorably. The combat scenarios involve simply tapping at static images to shoot, or swiping a finger across the screen for a melee attack, and while the writing was grammatically sound, by the end of my playthrough I was left with more dead-end subplots than I cared to remember.

The dead horse that is the zombie apocalypse genre gets the boot so often that just mentioning its ubiquity in a game review reads like something of a cliché in itself. I’ll admit to being as bored with the theme as the next embittered reviewer, but I also like to think of Hardcore Droid as the sort of publication that gives every game a fair and thorough shake regardless of the reviewer’s bias. Still, with so many garbage zombie games passing through our hands, is it even possible for a game like Overlive to get anywhere near a coveted hardcore rating despite a natural tendency to dismiss such a product outright? The answer, of course, is, “Yeah sure!”
