Infamous: Second Son Hands On Preview

Gareth at Skewed and Reviewed has posted a hands on preview of his time playing Infamous: Second Son at the 2014 C.E.S. in Las Vegas. He cites the great graphics and fast paced action as strong points of the game.

Can't wait for this game.

Does anyone know if the neon power will have melee? The ash/fire has the Ghost Rider chain (as i call it), what will neon have?

Garethvk3768d ago

I am not sure as I only got to use the chain, the power blasts and the dive bomb. We had video but Sony made us take it down. It was a pain as the guy on site knew we were filming and then marketing said there were to many direct shots of the screen as they want off screen shots with people in the screen. To me this seems odd as you would think they would prefer nice and sharp video centered on the screen but oh well.

Patrick_pk443768d ago

In terms of visuals, was there a big difference from footage shown from their first promoted gameplay, or does it look identical to hands on gameplay?

Omar913768d ago

@ Garethvk: Seems like you played the game so this question is direct towards you if you don't mind, How did you feel the enemy AI played? Based off the videos I've seen the AI doesn't seem very intelligent. I know the past Infamous games never had amazing AI, but I was hoping for a smarter group of enemies to strengthened the gameplay in Infamous.

What did you think?

Garethvk3768d ago

For me it was more of a swarming approach. There were tons of guards and they tended to fire at me from all angles. While they did not go out of their way to dive for cover and such like the ones in F.E.A.R. did they had some challenge. I remember ducking behind a shield to recharge and they flanked me and continued the attack. They also drove me to towers and elevated firing positions. So while at times challenging I would not say they were any better or any worse than most game enemies.

"I remember ducking behind a shield to recharge and they flanked me and continued the attack."

Good to know they will keep us on our toes and that we will have to choose our hiding places/recharge places wisely.

Nice preview. Sucker Punch said their favorite powers include one that haven't been announced yet. Have you received any indication as to what those powers may be?

Garethvk3768d ago

Not yet. It was tricky as they did not tell us what any of the controls were as I had to figure it out in game. I was able to get the pulse, the chain, and the glide down but for the power dive and leach they had to tell me. I believe they are saving that until later. what I saw when playing was amazing though.

Awesome! thanks bubbles up!

^^^ Buy or no buy shouldn't even be a question. With Sucker Punch's track record, new hardware, and the footage we've seen Infamous: Second Son screams buy to me!

Edit: I can't believe I replied to the other comment when I could have obviously replied to his. Please ignore that. Lol.

Looks like this game is going to be awesome

webeblazing3768d ago

i doubt ai will be any different from last gen and other games. i love infamous tho, the ai is always more aggressive than other games tho. cant wait to try it. i liked the 1st infamous the most, the second imfamous missions didnt have you into it(cant think of perfect word for it) like the 1st one did

Conzul3768d ago

Yeah infamous ai is usually pretty aggressive and street smart but not TOO bright, especially when on rooftops.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM123d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck123d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati122d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos123d ago (Edited 123d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88154d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183153d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie153d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
