HBO GO Coming to PS3 and PS4

EMGN: PlayStation and HBO have jointly announced the HBO streaming service, ‘HBO GO’, will be coming to the PlayStation 3 in the very near future. The PlayStation 4 version will follow soon after.

Netfilx is cheaper than HBO by hundreds of dollars in the long run. Im pretty damn sure u need a cable provider. I could be wrong tho

Your going to need cable for a long time to use HBO GO. I use it on PC and the way it verifies you is making you use the main email and password with your cable provider, aka the way you log into 'my account' with the cable co

You need cable to use it, and to be quite frank it is alot easier to just torrent the shows.

If you have basic cable your cable company might let you get HBO for its cost alone with the basic without the need for the cable box and extra channels.

You need HBO through a cable company to get HBO Go. HBO Go is a value-add for current HBO subscribers. I can't wait for the day when it is a stand alone product.

I have hbo go and netflix.. hbo go is not cheaper, you have to have cable and subscribe to hbo to get go and its more of a hbo on demand, meaning you can watch what they are showing on hbo for the month.

Its not like netflix with a bunch of movies to pick from although go has obviously newer movies to pick from but since hbo plays the same shit all month long most times longer it makes go useless until a new rotation start and your out and about in a boring place then go is worth it for that short lived moment.

I really impressed with how Sony are handling the PS3.

First PS Now, then Sony announced @CES, a new live TV service and now HBO. I'm happy Sony are keeping the PS3 relevant in wake of successor PS4.

Because of PS3 and its media capabilities, I can watch all the catch up TV I want, Netflix, Amazon Video, PSN Video, Internet Radio, MP3/MP4 playlists and 1,000's of music videos.

Strange then, all this talk about Xbox One's all-in-one entertainment, when the Xbox 360 & PS3 have already been doing all this and more, for years!

It just gives added value to owning the console!

I tried HBO Go once and didn't liked the resolution, it wasn't HD as on Netflix. Maybe if they fix that I may use it again.

i doubt if every content provider can afford to stay "exclusive" to one platform anymore specially if the competitor brand is gaining momentum. in this case, Netflix and PS.

Netflix is very popular on PS platform which HBO obviously would want to tap on. it would be foolish to stick to one platform only unless you don't want the market share or you want the competitors to win.

HBO is not a standalone service you have to purchase cable tv and HBO to have access to it. The service was created with the future in mind. Instead of waiting for the chips to fall wear they may with cable tv and the cord cutters, HBO has taken it upon itself to prepare it's business model to be ready for a standalone service. Very very smart on their part.

For those that have never used HBO Go it works much like Netflix, and has every episode of every original series they have ever made. Their movie selection may not be as vast, but it is constantly changing and adds a premium variety of hit movies. {235 movies to chose from atm}

Not to mention, it's wholly irrelevant. The point is that Live was not and is not worth what Microsoft charges you. To begin with, $50 got you multiplayer that was free everywhere else. They added one, maybe two features that were praiseworthy, but then put more features that were free on other platforms behind the Live paywall.

Tell me: why do they make it so you have to have Live to use Skype, when even Sony doesn't? They OWN Skype.

There's no value in that. Or in paying for Netflix again. Or any other such service.

It was a better PRODUCT than PSN for quite some time. But it was not and is not a better value.

The conjecture was when you said "live was "never" worth what ms charges". When you added the word "never" what i got from that was that live was never worth it, ever...
