Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD had a big part in it.

staticdash223756d ago

True that. Here's hoping it rides the rest of the month in a solid position.

Concertoine3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

Vitas a portable... in japan, lol. Wii u also hasnt had a big software release in almost 2 months in japan. I imagine if more software keeps coming to vita it will fight the wii u for second place. (Until ps4 comes out that is).

Belking3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

Thats nothing really to celebrate. It just shows how bad they are both doing.3ds is absolutely destroying vita in hardware and software and they are making money.

PeaSFor3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

just look at the global numbers, a brand new hot product like the xbox one(wich have a ridiculous amount of ads behind it) have barely 30 000sales over the "dead" psvita, wich is indeed pretty impressive for the vita, 3ds or not.
XOne 171,885

WiiU 111,325

Wow, you really hate the Vita huh?

And a handheld outselling a next generation console is "nothing to celebrate"? Lol, whatever you say Belking. You keep repeating the same post in every Vita article about it "not selling" or "not making Sony any money". From someone who will never own a Vita.....it's pretty confusing as to why you care so much about it. Unless it's because you feel you have to find something Sony related to bash on because you know you can't do that with the PS4.....yeah it's probably that.

And to prove you wrong about the Vita "not selling" -

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/...

"Vita sales rose by 68 per cent in the week of PS4's launch, and by 65 per cent the week after"

Chrischi19883755d ago

I guess we can safely say, it was a weak week for gaming as a whole in japan. Vita did actually not hold its ground, it too lost around 50% of the sales from the week before.

Dan_scruggs3756d ago

8 out of the top 10 games in sales are Nintendo.

lol

ritsuka6663755d ago

The holidays are over. naturally every console experienced big drops, troll.

This shows you that if you just keep big titles coming then people will actualpy buy the VITA.

worldwidegaming3756d ago

Its weird to compare apples to oranges even if they are classified as a fruit. console to Handheld? o_O
Vita will not catch on until Japanese companies completely abandon the psp (which is still releasing games.) With a great list of games already on the Vita, sales have been lackluster. Maybe when the PS4 releases the Japanese will finally just buy it! The only problem is the 3DS...
Almost every gamer in Japan owns a 3DS.

(Just try using the pass service with the 3DS while at Shinjuku in Tokyo, It filled up from 0 to 90 in less than an hr. Try that in NYC and I assure you that you will be waiting a long long time!)

Hicken3756d ago

You're definitely right about the PSP hindering the Vita. Sony's in a tough spot there: do they kill the PSP to force developers to move on, or do they continue their tradition of keeping support going for their older systems?

The 3DS is gonna do what it does. It's a Nintendo handheld, so the numbers will be massive. I don't think Sony should or is trying to beat the 3DS in sheer numbers, especially with the two devices being catered to rather different markets in general. Rather, I think they're still targeting the PSP's market... the problem is that they're still making the PSP, and developers are still making games for it. A lot of that should change once the PS4 launches in Japan, though.

Vita TV will also do better then, and once they fix the rather baffling issue of not having much of the Vita's library be compatible. Not exactly sure what was going on with that one.

PS Vita: Wow, outselling the Wii U.
PSP: Wow, it's still alive?
Xbox: lol

XabiDaChosenOne3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

Like I said, WiiU sales would not last.

DanielGearSolid3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

Fear Not!

I checked his comment history people...

He did call it
(Not that it wasn't obvious in the first place)

XabiDaChosenOne3756d ago

I called it the week the WiiU sold 100,000, I'm not trying to be a jerk just helping Ninty fans manage their expectations.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3756d ago

Uh when no new software sales will drop. SM3DW already increase the sales for the week it launch til now. And been in Top 10 software since.

Knushwood Butt3756d ago

More like, when Nintendo drop their 24/7 advertising of the Wii U on Japanese TV, sales will drop.

AKR3755d ago

It's the holiday season; when it comes down to most electronics - after Christmas time is up - they usually drop during the January-February, block.

Chrischi19883755d ago

They were christmas sales, you are a true analyst to know something like that^^

No for real now, we all knew that, we are not that ignorant, but you know who is still ignorant? The people, who truly believe, that Xbox1 and PS4 sales will stay the same as the launch sales during christmas time. That too, wont stay the same.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - Classic Zelda turns 10

The Nintendo 3DS' The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is now 10 years old, yet remains a remarkable experience.

kythlyn154d ago

Calling this classic feels so weird to me. It's still the newest game in the old style... hope they make another one.

FinalFantasyFanatic154d ago

I would love a remake of Link to the Past, one in a similar vain to Link's Awakening.

Neonridr154d ago

it was an awesome game and utilized the 3D very well on the 3DS. A Link to the Past is one of my favorite Zelda games, so this one being a true sequel to that title really hit home with me.

franwex154d ago

I bought this very long ago, and it’s still in my backlog!

Making Pokémon 3D Was A Mistake

Pokémon’s shift to 3D was a big mistake, as the series’ roots in 2D design make it difficult to transfer important game mechanics into a 3D overworld.

why do other games pull off 3D monster collecting JRPG games just fine? Look at Jade Cocoon and Shin Megami Tensei for examples.

Answer should be obvious.

No other videogame franchise is as merchandise driven as Pokémon
