Take a look at Sega's beautiful, doomed Dreamcast (pictures)

The Dreamcast is perhaps gaming's most glorious failure. The latest episode of Adventures in Tech tells the story of Sega's incredibly innovative yet ultimately doomed console, and to celebrate we've compiled a gallery of gorgeous Dreamcast photos.

Without the dreamcast the ps4 wouldn't be as amazing as it is because the dreamcast set the trend for alot of amazing features available today on modern consoles

I still have my Dreamcast hooked up in the living room along with my PS4. I still play it at least once a week. Can't get enough House of the Dead!

The WiiU to me is like a successor to the Dreamcast. VMU's were great at the time, but the WiiU controller really takes the concept to the next level.

DigitalRaptor3767d ago

I feel the same way about the Wii U's gamepad.

Except Sega led the way with innovative online features. Wii U is getting some really cool games, but nothing on the level of Shenmue. Dreamcast had its crown jewel within one year of the console being on the market.

I still have my launch unit along with a couple NIB ones just in case. Probably my favorite console to date. The games still look and play great.

thereapersson3767d ago

Even as much of a PlayStation fan as I am, I sometimes ponder what gaming would be like currently had it been the DreamCast that won the console battle and not the PS2. Heck, everyone can see that the DreamCast had some great features - the first console to have an online option out of the box, for example.

never came out in Australia so I have no attachment to this thing.

WonderboyIII3767d ago

No it did. I bought it here from Bankstown (Sydney) with Shenmue. I still have the console.

Fishy Fingers3767d ago

One of my favourite consoles of all time.

HappyWithOneBubble3767d ago

I never had a Dreamcast. At the time PS1 was too good to even care for another console. Then the PS2 came lol.

7 Iconic Games That Put The PS1 On The Map

The first PlayStation is home to an array of iconic video games that went on to define the sheer significance of this console.

SimpleSlave11d ago

I think from a historical perspective I would change Spyro for Grand Turismo. It's the franchise that made the PS1 look like an absolute unit. Other than that, I can't argue with the rest when it comes to games that defined the PS1.

And to be honest, there should be space for Tekken 3, Wipepout and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in order to round out the PS1 identity as the machine to own at the time.

With Tomb Raider 2, Silent Hill, Symphony of the Night, Tenchu, and Soul Reaver as backup contenders.
