IGN - Don't Starve PS4 Review

IGN - Don't Starve is a beautiful take on Minecraft's formula that ultimately left me feeling a bit too empty.

Agree with the score, it's a good game but I think that the concept itself isn't capable of more than just "good". It certainly is a nice addition to PS+ though and better than Contrast.

But I do think it's up to personal preference. I've played both through and I personally enjoy Don't Starve MUCH more than Contrast.

Absolutely agree I'm truly amazed by the amount of people disagreeing. That's crazy!

Don't Starve has absolutely no depth to it at all, It just creates absolutely no interest to coming back to it. It's just a mobile game format released on a console. Contrast is an actual full blown game in every sense the 2 don't compare.

I understand that the ps4 does not have a lot of content to be offered for free yet, but I feel that the ps+ instant games for ps4 have been extremely weak to date.
November: contrast, resogun
December: nothing
Jan: Don't starve (which I already tried through my web browser for free).
It seems since PS+ is being pushed for PS4, they should really work to show what a great value it is. It IS great for ps3 but has been terrible for ps4 thus far.

Only because its so new. Give it a year, maybe even 6 months, and you'll see it pick up.

Remember, the PS4 has only been out for less than 3 months.....

I know and I agree with you. I just hope that they do continue to offer the same great service that the ps3 has. I really hope they don't just get lazy since it is required for ps4 multiplayer. Indie flash style games aren't worth the subscription cost to me. I hope in the future they do offer AAA games.

1) There was no November update. Sony considers the "November" update to actually be December, which we got early because the PlayStation 4 launched earlier in the United States. This lead to many getting confused, but they've stated many times that we simply got the December offerings early.
2) Don't Starve is a very popular niche game, which is a stronger offering than a lot of niche games they offer on the PS3 / V.
3) There are only so many games on the PlayStation 4 and they can't give away Knack or Killzone Shadow Fall on day one.

Drive Club is sort of free. It's a stripped down version of the game, so you can't opt out of buying Drive Club for PlayStation Plus, but you don't exactly need to buy it either. Think of it as a free 2 play version.

You're insane. Sony was offering a free version of Driveclub, a flagship title, at launch. The only reason we don't have it yet is because of the delay. It'll be on ps plus when it's released at retail. Sony ps plus is still, by far, the greatest value in gaming, period.

The good will come soon. We're getting Outlast and a free version of Driveclub soon. And Daylight soon. I think Knack will be the first big Triple A we get.

Yep, I held off on buying Knack because I bet it will be coming to ps+ in the future.
I also agree that the good will come soon, I just think so far it has been kind of lackluster.

PS4 didn't get a November update because when the PS+ update was released PS4 wasn't available to buy.

I agree there is not much to do on the ps4 I only have bf4 but I need a change and I still keep going back to my ps3 because there is nothing on the ps4 what I haven't finished. Resogun was good but it needs a couple more indie games or something. Yes I know its a new console and we should expect it and I do but a couple more games would of been better.

You guys are nuts.I've put hours and hours into this game already.Love these survival type games.The stress and challenge of balancing food reserves, basic supplies, resources and managing your sanity level all while explore a big world and trying to figure out these crazy secrets is so well done.

I would of gladly paid the $15 had they released the game for sale.I'll deff be getting any DLC, that's for sure.

I'm loving Don't Starve, but I agree that the beginning 30 minutes will probably get old pretty quick. Reminds me of old RTSs that start out the same every time. Gathering resources, building the same basic stuff, etc, until you get to the good stuff of advanced combat and impressive inventions/buildings.

I'm really not a fan of any of the PS4 PS+ titles. Resogun is decent for short periods but it isn't something I can play for an hour. But PS+ will get better on PS4 soon when we get Outlast,Daylight,and Driveclub PS+ edition.

Smh this is just there PC review, nothing new. This was made months ago when the Don't Starve PC review came out.

I agree that lots of gamers enjoy don't starve but it wasn't for me, already deleted it in fact. Defo a mobile/web browser game more than a console game
