5 Games In 2014 That Will Probably Get Delayed

While 2014 looks like it's going to be a great year for gaming, it will also bring its fair share of disappointment. Some games will turn out far worse than advertised and some will arrive much later than expected.

Destiny is not getting delayed again. The moon trailer stated that Bungie was aiming for a spring 2014 launch. The end result was that the game was pushed back when they announced a September release date. Bungie's explanation for the date also hints that they asked Activision for a delay. Bungie's pedigree and their deal with the publisher probably grants them any kind of time they need to polish the game.

It's great news that Activision does not own the Destiny IP, though they probably tried to weave that into the contract.

I have a feeling that both Destiny and The Division are getting delayed.

pyramidshead3780d ago

Hasn't the division already been delayed until 2015?

Wait...actual game development for "The Division" only just started? Jesus. So is everything we've seen of it just bullsh*t target renders?

ShinMaster3780d ago

Oh that's a picture of Destiny?

I thought it was Elder Scrolls or Dark Souls 2.

Seems like Bungie ran out of ideas and couldn't come up with one consistent art direction so they threw everything in the game. Talk about generic.

The list:
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Elder Scrolls Online
Fortnite
Tom Clancy's The Division
Destiny

Destiny and The Division (at least) are two of the top upcoming games already announced.

What do you call really good?

PurpHerbison3780d ago

Good has yet to come. But I'll get back to you when it does.

MestreRothN4G3780d ago

In my list, TW3, Dying Light, Destiny, Watch Dogs, The Division all fall into my probably "REALLY GOOD" list.

barb_wire3780d ago

Yeah, I don't see 'Destiny' being delayed (again) Activision will release that in September, come hell or high water.

I can see 'The Division' being delayed though (someone on NeoGAF mentioned it had been delayed until late Sept/Oct 2015), what with 'Watchdogs' coming this fall.

EvilCackle3780d ago

I thought Watch Dogs was a spring release? Or did that get delayed again?

barb_wire3780d ago

Well, when Watch Dogs was delayed I remember quite a few articles at the time, all stating it was being delayed until at least Sept 2014, of course that means nothing, Amazon & Gamestop have a June 30th release date.

OrangePowerz3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

Watchdogs is supposed to come out in the first half not fall.

Wouldnte be surprised by a delay of The Division because we haven't seen anything besides of the E3 demo.

JohnnyTower3780d ago

Stick of Truth doesn't look that graphically demanding of a game. It almost could be a flash game. So Im not sure the delay. Maybe Matt and Trey are waiting until the night before release before finishing the game? They do the same with their TV episodes.

nerdeu3780d ago

Oh my! You forgot the most obvious delay: The Last Guardian. *sigh*

EvilCackle3780d ago

That's a good one. Is anyone actually expecting that game out this year, though?

jb2273780d ago

haha yeah, but you have to have a release window before you can have an actual delay....

My bet and probably the biggest no brainer would be Quantum Break. Coming from a developer w/ a history of delays, a game that not only introduces a time manipulation element that will most definitely be difficult to pin down, but also some type of live action integrated tv show, there is no possible way this game sees a proper release this year. I could see Microsoft pushing out a live action pilot and maybe a demo to go along w/ it towards the end of the year at most, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this game doesn't hit until 2016
