Square Enix Europe Confirm next-gen Hitman title Is Not Cancelled

Earlier today videogamer.net announced that Hitman has been cancelled according to senior game designer Richard Knight's LinkedIn profile from Square Enix Montreal. The news was not received well with gamers expressing their disappointment. PS4.sx can now confirm according Square Enix Europe that Hitman on the next-gen platforms has not been cancelled, prior to recent trending news.

Haven't played Absolution yet but I have it downloaded cause of PS+. I'm pretty sure I'll like it since it's Hitman and I loved the originals a lot.

Thank god. Sure Absolution might not have been the best in the series, but it still was a pretty good game. It also sold pretty well, albeit I don't know what the actual sales expectations SE had for the game.

Would love to see a next gen only sequel. Don't make a PS3/360 version so the graphics only get minor improvements on next gen =/.

It's financially riskier for them not to release on ps3/360. We've had next gen for a couple months with less than 5 million install base of each console, business wise is not smart. It's up to the developers to push the next gen consoles, just as we've seen a few games. hether or not they want to similar experience across platfroms, is their call.

I would go as far to say that Absolution is my favorite next to Blood Money. I spent countless hours on both of these games, trying to stealth through every level perfectly. One thing I really liked in Absolution were the challenges in each level; they added a ton of replay value!

Anyway, great series! It's good to hear that it will be making an appearance on the PS4 and Xbox One!

There is still a next gen Hitman game coming from IO Interactive, yeah, but the next gen Hitman from SEM was in fact cancelled. The 2 studios were supposed to alternate Hitman games, but Square Enix moved SEM to mobile games for some reason.

I dont get the logic of these devs, especially ubisoft. The splinter cell series' sales have dwindled since they decided to toss the COD fanboy's salad with their focus on action and downplayed stealth.

I think its in reference to N4G, I mean if you look directly below our comments the related story is about hitman being confirmed as cancelled and its on the top page of the site with hundreds of gamers leaving messages of how glad or sad they are about the game being cancelled. When in fact according to this new report its actually never been cancelled.

"Hitman series isn't cancelled" <- doesn't have to meaning that next-gen hitmam is alive. Don't forget that S-E have two other hitman games in production on Android & iOS systems.

You missed the entire point. UGH! The IO Interactive game was NEVER canceled! EVER! It was announced, and still IS official, that the MONTREAL STUDIO next gen title has been canceled in favor for ONE Hitman on next gen not TWO like Assassin's Creed releasing each year. So Montreal has been relegated to iOS and Android mobile Hitman games instead of a next gen console alternating Hitman game. IO Interactive is still working on the next Hitman game! So next gen Hitman is VERY MUCH ALIVE, it was NEVER canceled!

They need to make it less restricted what you can do like being able to choose your tools for the job, a open world map and less story driven, absolution was good but please make it like older titles I will be happy :-D
