Making Games For Xbox One Is Like Assuming All Your Users Have A Powerful Gaming PC: Press Play

GamingBolt recently had a chance to speak Press Play studio director Mikkel Thorsted, who worked on Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for the Xbox One, to find out just how much easier it is to develop for the next gen console as compared to the PC.

Max is a really fun game .Hope for their next game they try out something different though or even better hope ms allows them make a full fledged xbx one aa game.

They are quite talented and it wouldnt be a bad idea if they were allowed to try their hands on something bigger.

"Making Games For Xbox One Is Like Assuming All Your Users Have A Powerful Gaming PC: Press Play"

Must be joke if he's saying the X1 is a powerful machine. The X1 can't even run most multiplatform games (even exclusives) at 1080p/30fps. I'm not trolling, just pointing out facts.

IcicleTrepan3791d ago

Don't you think you're missing the point? He's comparing it to last gen's situation.

ThatCanadianGuy5143791d ago

Last gen..

You mean when games were still being rendered in 720p?

Xbone, GPU wise at least, is a low-tier gaming rig at BEST.Wii U being joke-tier and PS4 being mid-tier.

Sony_Fan3791d ago

@thatcanadianguy Wiiu,Xone and Ps4 are all joker/low/pathetic tier, learn your facts man.

Charybdis3791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

Its a powerfull pc but it definitely does not appears to be a very powerfull pc. The 1080 p argument I do agree however future games probably will be mostly 1080p/30fps.
Meanwhile consoles are struggling with 1080p very powerfull and expensive pc's are already slowly gearing up for 4k gaming.

ThePope3791d ago

@ Come_born Here's a fun fact for you; a PC with the same set up as the Xbox One could run COD 4 (just one example) at 1080p/60 fps. SO the question then is: is the hardware poor or is the SDram an issue for developers? Which once fully understood could be fixed.

You have to understand, people are running games like Crysis 3, and StarCraft 3 at 1080p/60 fps on PC's with similar set ups.

My question to you and the rest of the trolling (yes you are trolling) PS4 sheep is once the developers no longer have issue running things at 1080p on the One, what are you going to cry about then? Cause everyone who owns or has played a PS4 knows its FAR from the savior of the gaming world that you claim it is, and 1080p doesn't give it a pass.

@ThatCanadianguy If the Xbox is at best a low end Gaming PC why is the graphics on its best looking game (Ryse) as good looking (some say better, but that's opinion) as the PS4's best looking game (Killzone) AND it's 900p? Sounds like all this 50% talk is not producing 50% better looking games. And before you say "wait its coming". If its 50% better now, games should look 50% better NOW. As both systems will look better over time.

Mkai283791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

Not only that, if these "gamers" are so concerned with graphics.. Why indeed was Ryse picked for best graphics? Forza 5 looks good aswell.. Most importantly, all this was done on in proper drivers. As far as 50% this counts for resolution and framerate.. You will see this if not already in PS4 titles. True a game like ryse looks better, but you look at KillZone and see sharper images and better frame rates at least for now.. But if Killzone was to play at 900p or 720p and use that to make better textures/lighting or a constant 60fps, would it had been best looking game? Which means 1080p does not mean the best graphics..

christocolus3791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

@come bom

Even at that. The xbx one is still a powerful system. You guys are always so eager to start fanboy wars. There is nothing wrong with what press play has said. Many devs have compared both ps4 and xbx one to powerful pcs. Hideo, shinji, dice, crytek, cdprojekt, ubisoft, ea . The xbx one didnt output some games at 1080p at launch but that didnt stop it from delivering a game as good looking as ryse. That the console isnt as powerful as the ps4 or the most powerful pcs out there doesnt make it weak by any standard. For gaming(which is its priority as a games consoles).it could be regarded as powerful. Plain and simple.

Even though I haven't played Max TCOTB the general consensus seems to be that it's a fun/good game

That being said I'm glad Press Play has multiple games in development for X1

Mikefizzled3791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

Max is lots of fun. And I'm glad to see the partnership with Unity in action which does lead me to wonder now with Unity on WP8 whether it can be ported down to join the previous game.

So, that's that, then? We're fine with people making up fake sales that are Amazon price matching PSN and XBL every single week? I think I'm done with N4G.

Eidolon2182d ago

Been going on for over a year from the first time i've been seeing em, it pisses me off too that admins allow this to keep going on
