80k is still great for japan, and still second place behind 3ds :)

NatureOfLogic3781d ago

Not really, WiiU numbers are very similar to Gamecube and they are expected to fall even more during January. Those numbers are only good for low standards.

abzdine3781d ago

good numbers for wii u, this is only beginning!
PS4 needs competition and i'm happy for these numbers.

Shok3780d ago

If 80k sales aren't good for Wii U, then that means they're not good for Vita either. The way you guys flip-flop is astounding.

Of course sales are down, before Dec 22nd, most people will have already bought the holiday gifts for Christmas and New Years.

But regardless 80k is still very good numbers, for any platform. People need to realize that Japan is the smallest market out of the US and Europe.

Then nothing is doing well, because the Vita is lower and the pS3 was crap.

The Wii U also outsold the PS3 in its first year in Japan.

gpturbo813780d ago

compared to the 10k a week they were pullin, 80k is a bit.

sinncross3780d ago

@Theyellowflash30

No it didnt. The PS3's first full year in Japan was 1.2 million. The Wiiu was 800k.

So no, the Wiiu didnt outsell the PS3 in its first year.

And if you are talking about the numbers for this year, comparing the WiiU to a device in its 7th year on the market doesn't put the WiiU in good light.

That said, WiiU sales ahve been good for the holiday season as expected of a Nintendo device. Also good considering how heavy handheld/ mobile the Japanese market is.

So 80k this week is good, regardless of the larger implications for long term sales.

WiiU is still No1 spot in japan for the top selling home console for like 8 weeks now and with Donkeykong and WiiFitU ect expect 150,000 a week very soon.....

H4all3781d ago

3DS – 208.893 (245.046)
WIU – 79.174 (119.159)
PSV – 75.207 (49.366)
PS3 – 27.020 (23.493)
PSP – 9.451 (7.697)
WII – 2.719 (2.444)
360 – 770 (607)

that vita sales rise because of Final Fantasy X/X2 HD collection..?
man... that awesome.. can't wait to grab it soon..

starfox0793780d ago

Notice how 3Ds sales were a good % lower as well ?? so whats the problem gone are the days when wiiu sold a few thousand a week ???

Realplaya3781d ago

The Wii U is still putting up good numbers for a system that has no new big name game released in almost 2 months.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - Classic Zelda turns 10

The Nintendo 3DS' The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is now 10 years old, yet remains a remarkable experience.

Calling this classic feels so weird to me. It's still the newest game in the old style... hope they make another one.

FinalFantasyFanatic169d ago

I would love a remake of Link to the Past, one in a similar vain to Link's Awakening.

Neonridr170d ago

it was an awesome game and utilized the 3D very well on the 3DS. A Link to the Past is one of my favorite Zelda games, so this one being a true sequel to that title really hit home with me.

I bought this very long ago, and it’s still in my backlog!
