I think the original version looks better. I mean they mention the eyes look better but I kinda like when something is somewhat more stylized and not made to look 100% like a perfect human and Tomb Raider really nailed that I think.

I also think the new model makes her look a little older which is odd since she is supposed to be really young but that could just be me seeing something that most will not.

GOTY editions aren't all bad. In a lot of cases it's the only real discount we get on DLC.

Like Injustice: Gods Among Us GOTY still costs less than getting Injustice: Gods Among Us vanilla and buying all the DLC. It's also good for those without an internet connection or interested in wasting space.

Not saying we should see more of these, but I am saying that they feel less tracky than an upscaled version of a game released a year ago.

Speak for yourself, but I personally love GOTY editions, whether the game itself is actually a worthy candidate for GOTY or not, so long as I enjoy it. Why? Because I'm a collector and I love having "definitive" versions of games with all DLC on-disc. If I want to go back and play Borderlands 2 GOTY Edition or Skyrim: Legendary Edition in 10 years with all of their glorious DLC that add so much content, I can. It's a beautiful realization. That option isn't necessarily always there for owners of the vanilla copy of the game + digital DLC purchased separately.

On the other hand, when publishers release GOTY editions with a redemption code voucher for the digital DLC, that pisses me right off. I want my DLC on-disc with no strings attached to a network, account, or DRM of any variety. The only instance of where this is acceptable is for GOTY editions that include MP DLC only (e.g. Uncharted 2/3). Then having the content on-disc obviously doesn't do you much good in the long-run.

The definitive version will never beat the 3D version of the PC, people played TR in 3D, know what I mean, for me it's one of the most impressive 3D game ever release to date, to it was a big down to see that it will not have the 3D option for next gen console, sorry but PC wins this time. There's a difference in facial expression, with her looking more vulnerable in the old look, but that could be just the screenshot.

What can be said for sure is that the skin looks way better and more natural. The mouth looks more natural, the eyes more detailed and the hair seems to have a more saturated texture of higher quality. Overall I'd say the new look makes the old seem like last gen.

I just hope the other people don't look dated in comparison. It would be somewhat jarring.

The original tomb raider is still the best because it put exploration and discovery before shooting things. Cover based shooters need to be given a rest next generation anyway, the developers need to get imaginative with the gameplay, because im sick to death of seeing conveniently placed low walls and thinking oh here comes another wave of bad guys.

Nothing wrong with a bit of shooting but they need to focus on what made tomb raider...tomb raider to begin with.

I'm beginning to think the original version of the game is the more definitive one, with Lara looking more accurate to her character and without the extra costumes. In the 2013 version of the game, she changes character models after each level to show what she's gone through. Her clothes get torn and muddy. If you have the DLC costumes on, they stay the same.
It's not known if the DLC costumes will do this in the 2014 version of the game, but I suspect they will, and they're easily selectable which means people will have Lara wear them and miss out on the detail they have of each costume matching the level.
