PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS Vita) Review by the PS Vita Review Network

The PS Vita Review Network has gotten a new review out, for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

"All in all, PlayStation All-Stars is one of the easiest fighters on the Vita to pick-up-and-play. The load times are disheartening, but with 24 characters, an active online community, and an easy-to-learn fighting system, this is a fighting game that can even get non-fighting fans hooked on using their favorite characters."

I think this a underdeveloped game but fun and I play it regularly still after its Nov 2012 release I wish more people gave it a chance. It was a rough game and with a sequell it coulda been great. I think I'm about to get in a few rounds now

kayoss3788d ago

the only downfall about this game is that you have to use a special move to kill your opponent. Each character should have a life bar that depletes as they take damage.

Killzoner993788d ago

Downfall? LMAO , no that's what makes this a strategic game unlike that other button mashing , mascot brawler. If you actually were apart of the PASBR community you would understand this game is for true fighter fans. For some reason the gaming media bashed this game from the beginning and never gave it a chance.Oh well , I still play it daily.

Really? When using the super move its an instant kill. With life bar it makes the game more strategic. Couple that with the special move and we have a perfect brawler. I would be kicking my opponent butts throughout the game to get my super up, but all of sudden he pulls a special off and kills me instantly.
I dont care how skilled you are at this game, but once you face a noob who just knows how to use the special moves, theres no where to hide. I do agree with you that this is not a button smasher, thats why i prefer this over SSB.
Dont mis-understand me i love this game and still plays it once in a while. but the Super moves kills it for me (literally).

@kayoss

Good luck trying to just get your meteor up and just kill your opponent. Not that simple, all specials can be avoided with high skill lvl. Ive had matches that went on for more than an hour because of combos and timing.

Personally, having no life bar makes the game a bit more, how you say, stressful and heart pumping to play. Timing your defense when the other opponents attacks you, timing when you avoid their supers, when to use your supers, what supers you should use, what attacks are useful, all that jazz.

XisThatKid3788d ago (Edited 3788d ago )

I dunno about what your saying but have you extensively played this game? Because The way it was made is pretty interesting to say the least. The traditional way or the smash way coulda been obvious choices but why when you can at least TRY originate or find your own niche in an already diluted market?

I see what you mean though I hear this alot but I find it more often that most just don't understand it from lack of experience with the title.

EDIT:
@r21 THANK YOU!!!

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69542d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop542d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard542d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi542d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin542d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus550d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer549d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
