The third installment in the inFamous franchise promises to be a real treat and may even be the first, true next generation open world game we've seen.

This game does many things right!

Like TLOU, the SWAG is electrifyingly American.

Its the total package real deal.
The timely character design, the cool style, Troy Baker emotions awesomeness, the mainstream appeal is there.

I hope that the game doesn't take it self too seriously.
An SP needs to smoothen the shooting mechanics and animations awkwardness.

Panthers3792d ago

Im sure it will, but KZSF showed off a lot (graphics wise) Too many jaw-dropping moments in that game.

Still, this was my most anticipated game when they announced the PS4. Cant wait for release.

AndrewLB3791d ago

Those pre-rendered glamor shots don't tell the true story regarding this game. Here is what you should expect to see on your PS4...

http://images.geeknative.co...

http://wethenerdy.com/wp-co...

I wouldn't call those graphics impressive at all.I think some people have problems seeing past the bright colorful lights and actually look at the textures, lighting, etc.

Disagree? Look at those two images first.

krouse933791d ago

@AndrewLB

Those images you shared are direct screen grabs from heavily compressed online video... To have a true representation of the game, you need a static uncompressed image, or watch gameplay in person, because it will obviously lack the compression artifacts illustrated in the 2 images you posted...

Thats why we all disagree with your post.

thekhurg3791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

@trolldrewLB

You probably get a lot of your disagrees because you spend the bulk of your time trolling PS4 games/articles.

mkis0073791d ago

@AndrewLB Those "prerendered glamor shots" are much much closer to the actual game-play than your heavily compressed shots.

what's the link between something being "cool" and "american" ?

The propaganda in this country is powerful and unending. If you heard how your country is the "greatest country on god's green earth" 1000 times a day you would start to believe it too.

And I apologize a head of time for all the Americans out there who will probably take offense to your question.

HammadTheBeast3791d ago

@SoulMikey

Name one relatively successful American JRPG.

Note: Not to circle jerk on America, but different places in the world have different viewpoints on things.

'American RPG'.
Stupidity level: proud murican.

dillhole3791d ago

@SoulMikeY Just because something is in English it does not make it American. The Witcher is Polish, Mass Effect is Canadian and Dark Souls is actually Japanese.

monkeyDzoro3791d ago

@soulmikey

I don't hate USA, no problems with Americans. But I see no link between "cool"/"America ". and BTW, what's the link between "hating America" and "JRPGs" ?

@warczar

Ah, ok. Thanks.

Orange Juice3791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

Believe it or not, America usually sets the tone for what is "cool". Bigger population=more loudmouths spouting their opinions on what is hot or not=lesser populations following our lead. Its simple if you realize that 99 percent of gamers and people are automatons.

FamilyGuy3791d ago

Smoking an staring off in to the distance as if thinking a profound thought.
Okay maybe that was more a 90s thing but american media is heavily focused on style, looking cool is something a lot of americans focus on, even above being responsible enough to afford the things we buy.

GW2123791d ago

When your country needs a helping hand defending itself, guess who gets the first phone call? Food for thought. I know it's fashionable to hate on America but it is still, bar none, the most important country in the world. Sorry I'm not sorry.

monkeyDzoro3791d ago

@GW

You still arent telling me what's the link...

LordHiggens3791d ago

I'm American...and I'm sorry for America.

We are not the greatest country on Earth...we are far from it.

And truth be told we should be ashamed of ourselves.

Hicken3791d ago

Orange Juice probably has the closest thing to an answer, monkey.

It's not that we naturally decide what's cool, but it IS true that, at least partially, a lot of countries follow something American- if not just Western- and consider it to be "cool."

Are we the best country in the world? Doubtful. Particularly right now, we've got a whole heap of problems on pretty much every level. Education, infrastructure, government; we're not really where we need to be in much of anything. Our health is bad, our economy ain't too hot, and our practices are more wasteful than not.

Are we the most important, as GW212 says? Probably, in both good and bad ways. Our economy is too important, so that bad news for us negatively affects others. Our military might is such that we are both hated and relied upon. For too long, we were at the forefront of too many things, which is part of why we have the general attitude we do... though, at the same time, that's magnified and warped by what people see on TV.

We're not quite full of ourselves; we know how influential we are, and don't let anyone forget it. But talk to most of us in a casual setting- and have us be honest- and we're just like anybody else.

monkeyDzoro3791d ago

Some people are answering me, telling how USA is important in the world and how USA helped some countries... Listen, you dont want this to go deeper. Because not only God but us also know the atrocity the USA has been involved in BUT this is not the subject, this isnt an history class. This is about games.

So, my question remains: what's the link between something being "cool" and "american" ?

FamilyGuy3785d ago (Edited 3785d ago )

The link:

Hollywood is in America
Hollywood, actors and actress are "cool" and America has the majority of them. What happens in america sets the trends for what's "cool" because of the media that's created here and how much more wide spread it becomes compared the the media and famous people of other parts of the world.

Was going through my old post an noticed this again.

if the author think that 2nd Son will be the 1st to show the PS4's true potential, he/she clearly hasn't played KZSF! the jump from previous gen is enormous it even makes KZ3 not looking so good and I think KZ3 looks AMAZING!

sure games on high end PCs have been looking gorgeous since couple of years back but it still doesn't take away from KZSF that it looks stunning!

SoulMikeY3791d ago

I own and love ShadowFall, and also have a way better TV than most people you know, like $5,000 better. But in comparison, even being open world, Second Son looks better.

IRetrouk3791d ago

What size did u get for 5000 dollars? I got a 60" led 3d panasonic for 2500 pounds, the game looks really good on it

Utalkin2me3791d ago

@SoulMikeY

You can get a Sony XBR 65" 4k Ultra Hd TV for $5,000. So basically you had to spend 6-8,000 bucks on a TV in order for it to be $5,000 better then most.

miyamoto3791d ago

I think Second Son will be like the personification of the PS4 as a cool but powerful gaming platform.

A massive open world game at 1080p and a frame rate like Knack and Killzone Shadow Fall of around 40fps? What isn't going to be incredible about this game and its PROPRIETARY game engine that will make it look unique and like nothing else out there just like The Order and so many other PS4 games in development? Greatness truly does Await.

_FantasmA_3791d ago

I'm sorry, did you just say swag? Lucille Ball face *eewwwwwww*

die_fiend3791d ago

This article is complete garbage! A child could have written this!

The game is going to be great so why put out an article that's absolutely riddled with grammatical failings! Is someone being paid for this?

And where is the mention of the second power - neon? Nowhere to be seen. And saying how you can teleport in the air from a couple of screenshots from the trailer. This was shown months ago, this isn't news. Gamingbolt should consider creativity well-written and informed articles instead of this pap.

Please, look at this screenshot and try and honestly say such a thing.

http://farm6.staticflickr.c...

Everything beyond just a few feet is blurred by once again, overuse of depth of field. Great for hiding crap draw distance, or very low LOD settings.

Locknuts3791d ago

C'mon man, that's a cherry picked E3 demo shot. That said, most of what's been released since have been cutscene/bullshots so we'll see in March.

supes_243791d ago

Andrew, you're trying too hard, stop it, you look foolish now. And besides, I don't see anything wrong withy at pic you provided. The games is still months out so anything can be done since that screen shot was captured. Again, you just look silly now.

Old_Boss_3792d ago

Let us not forget Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

gameseveryday3792d ago

That is not an exclusive. In my opinion ONLY exclusives can show what a system is truly capable of. Example Gears of War for Xbox 360 and Uncharted for the PS3.

thehitman3791d ago

If this was the PS3 I wouldve agreed w/ you but its not. The PS4 is much easier to develop for and I believe they will get as much power out of it as they can before its goes gold. I believe the game will be just as draw dropping amazing as infamous when it releases. Just because the game went multiplat is no reason to sleep on it.

JasonRoseEh3791d ago

While generally true, when has a Metal Gear Solid game not been the best looking console game when it's released? It hasn't happened since the PSone days and I don't think that's going to change with Phantom Pain.

Corpser3791d ago

Do they? All these exclusives would look better on pc or other more powerful platforms

jay23792d ago

Of cause it will it's got no last gen and that joke of the xbone over priced and under powered piece of junk it's got everything going for it.

Eonjay3792d ago

I've played the other titles and its true they play very well. One of the best mechanics of Infamous is the feeling that you can travel anywhere, or climb up anything. You never feel overpowered but you feel more than capable of causing a ton of damage. The story telling is always one off but it works. This new one looks like the first truly next-gen only console title. It has graphics AND quick responsive gameplay.

LKHGFDSA3792d ago

Sorry to nitpick, but what exactly makes it next gen graphics? I'm not seeing anything new.

Eonjay3792d ago (Edited 3792d ago )

Look again. Check out the advanced particle effects, character animation, models, and abundance of lighting effects and its effects on different materials and surfaces. This is all magnified by a destructible open world environment beautifully rendered in native 1080p. The list really goes on.

MestreRothN4G3792d ago

Also 'quick responsive gameplay'?
Have we finally spotted a time traveler?

Eonjay3792d ago

@MestreRothN4G

All you have to do is watch how the onscreen character (Delsin) is able to maneuver and respond during combat in the gameplay trailer.

HiddenMission3792d ago

@LKHGFDSA

I'll bite on this. This I can tell just by the statement you made you haven't played a PS3 or XBOX360 ever.

1080p graphics is next gen console requirement which it meets right out the gate.

Higher polygon counts than the top games of the last gen which were in the 20k to 30k range. Now we are talking 75k to 100k.

Particle effects that are self generating light sources. This simply means that they create their own light source that interacts with the weather and surfaces of in game objects in real time.

Higher animation counts allowing more fluid of movement.

These are perfect examples but not all of them...if you want to see what just the basic upgrades are go play AC4 on PS3 then play it on PS4 with it just being an upgraded port and not a title built from the ground up on next gen hardware you can tell that the leap is very large.

The 1st part was just a wise crack so don't take it too seriously okay. By the way you should rethink your comments before posting something like this or people with nitpick your comment apart.

badz1493791d ago

@LKHGFDSA

nothing new? have you seen the Neon power? if you're telling me THAT is nothing new, can you please enlighten us with the game that has done it before?

Locknuts3791d ago

Disregard the other replies. My saying is: "If you have to look again: it's not next gen!" In other words, you're right.

AndrewLB3790d ago

Eonjay- All those things have been on PC games for many years. So to be accurate, these new consoles should be called "Current Gen" because they've almost caught up to PC graphics, and the PS3 and 360 should be called "last-gen"

How Does inFAMOUS Second Son Hold up 10 Years Later?

inFAMOUS Second Son was one of PS4's best exclusives, but does it hold up a decade later?

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM122d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck122d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati122d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos122d ago (Edited 122d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183153d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
